Shite in Miniature II

Someone put up some post office/national mail service vehicles earlier, so I thought I’d include this recent find:

Vitesse Mercedes 170D, from an antique place in Weobley Herefordshire. For a antique place, quite affordable at £4!

Made in Portugal so I am assuming 80s/early 90s.

Interestingly (to me anyway!) the swastika in the Deutschmark Reichpost logo is actually an ‘X’ - looking on Wikipedia,  reproduction of this symbol is illegal in several countries, not least Germany and Austria.

Talking of models with swastikas, I once sold one of these RIO Mercedes models on ebay, and was amazed at what it made.

A few months later I had found another, so listed it, hoping to get a similar result, but it was removed by Ebay for cause offence.

Another model that I have a few of over the years is this Mercedes W125 race car.

When listing either of these models now I retouch the pictures to cover the black part of the insignia and just put a note in the description that says it has insignia that might offend. Not had any removed since.

That's an early Vitesse from around the mid 1980's. They did quite a few Mercedes 170V models in various liveries.

I had this 1/32 Majorette Chevrolet Bel Air:

Passed it on a few years ago - despite being used only very gently, one of the wheels cracked and fell off...

Think there were a few others in the 'Legends' range too.

There's a 1963? Corvette,an early Mustang,& a 1930s Ford Hot Rod

Is that heir flick's staff car?

I had the yellow Willys - I'd like to find some of these

Had the set, some as doubles.  Sold all away in a fit of slippery slope remorse but kept back one Willys and motorised the '57 Chev.

All were put in this thread somewhere.

1:32 limo that one of you lot bought off me

I have a suspicion the orange Blazer and the Range Rover came from over this way...

But I do know the Limo came to here via Pandamonium ...and is still here!  Will dust off in the morning.  Can't say it's the nicest model, to be fair.  Had ideas for it but they came to nothing as ...the grille and bumper look so comedy

"Rocky III" by Ertl, with no mention of it being a Maserati Quattroporte.

That ERTL Quattroporte III seems to be very scarce this side of the Atlantic.  Well done on that one!  Hai quattro porte, non ho quattro porte, sono geloso!

I can't think I have ever seen one and a quick swoop on eBay UK confirms the unavailability...  needs more investigation I think!  So they cast a Quattroporte but the base just states Rocky III, is that right?  They didn't use the casting anywhere else?

Went over to IMCDB and saw it actually was a thing in the film (not seen it for many years) and not just some marketing ploy:

And why?  Because the actual car has always intrigued me, along with the similar period Biturbo.  Through 11 years production, Quattroporte III amounted to 2155 units in total.

Not a car that was modelled very much!  Even in this (pretty thorough) thread there seems to be no mention until now?

There have been 1:43 Neo Models, Leo Models and Kess which are £100+ pricing and recent.  But none in-period by Polistil, Bburago or Mebetoys, which is surprising.  Probably leave that expertise to someone else like @barrettI think though.  So will just leave the current ~£60 Minichamps example here:

Cheaper alternative to the Kess, NEO and Minichamps offerings is this Edicola. Part of a Maserati partwork.

If there was any doubt about the SS-909 being related to the Dinky, I think this confirms it. The guy on Planet Diecast was also adamant it's a Summer, but I thought SS numbers were Superior or Sunnyside

Only differences are mods to fit the pull-back motor, glass colour, dash/steering wheel and a crap plastic spring for the doors on the copy (not even sure it's a copy, more like a modified version from Dinky's moulds)

I thought the wheelbases looked quite different but then realised the Dinky base is elevated!

Got my new replacement tow pin for the Corgi Carrimore transporter.

Its a very good fit! Very very tight into the trailer, had to knock it fully home with a small hammer but it should be tight so it doesn’t fall out or stay in the tractor.

Now the ‘bitsa’ transporter is one again!

I may try giving the green a rub with some spirits to see if it’ll come off and leave the original blue behind. If not it’s repaint time.

Playtime!!😁
