why the Oldsmobile Sheriff and HQ Staff Car when the main market of interest for those would be the USA?

I'm not sure if you can get a subscription, but there is a USA website now that sells the cars and gumph like T-shirts. I think prior to that you could flog the UK supplied cars at a fair markup

Well that's good news.  I wondered if it was a separate distributor, but it isn't.  Same UK firm BLUE 14 (D2C) LTD operating it out of Southampton:

Corgi Model Club USA, Unit C, Empress Park, Empress Road, Southampton, SO14 0HH. UK.

Therefore my observation is null and void! 😊

I'm not a fan of these repro collections. At first they seam to be quite good, and people chase the latest issues. But after the initial excitement has died down, and the remaining stock get pushed out from all sorts of places, the values drop like a stone, especially when it turns out they made 10,000 of each one.

I got stitched up with the Dinky reissue Mini Traveller in Green. At first it seamed had to find and was gaining value. About a year later they kept turning up at pretty much every toy auction up and down the land. Those were done by Atlas if i remember correctly.

If you do want them then my advice is wait.

I’ve spent the day so far sorting through boxes and boxes of diecasts, I’ve got back and leg ache from sitting on the floor doing it but I’m almost there now!

here’s a few pics of some stuff from my ‘keep’ pile!

Assorted Matchbox Lesney’s. I spent about an hour with warm water and a toothpick cleaning fu**ing plastercine out of the Lincoln Continental. Sodding stuff was absolutely everywhere. Really nice car now though.

Older generation Lesney’s.

Sorting is done, for now!

Brace yourselves for a 4 Sale thread tomorrow…

Its not going to be everything as I’ve still not found the second half of my own toys up in the loft, there probably will be some stuff I’ll sell in there. And, I’m waiting on another bulk box to arrive… which will need a sort through but does contain lots of 60’s and 70’s models.

Where do you lot want me to put the stuff I’m selling? On here or in a separate thread in the ‘for sale’ section of the forum? Up to you.

I had a couple of deliveries today. This one is a bit of an oddball...

But there is a problem

20230107_130023.thumb.jpg.7d0437bbfd003d690f90fc37323fd230.jpg

I knew about the missing tailgate, maybe I recreate something, probably more chance of that than finding another one - however a thread I found on Planet Diecast suggests it's a Dinky copy by Summer, so I may try and cannibalise one of those.

I have a spare Dinky SD1, tailgate is intact as I recall but it's missing a wheel and isn't especially tidy so will be an ideal donor.

Remind me before the 14th, still hoping to make it to Brentwood (but it'll be early-ish).

Shopping day today. Found the last few of a new-ish case of Hot Wheels in Asda.

Nice Camino. Still looking out for the Corvette and Cadillac Seville from the '80s collection.

This seems to be a slightly different casting from the Tranny Connects I already have. Seems to have a plastic lower half now, and has lost its roof fins and gained a spoiler.

This was my favourite find though. Its a flipping great little thing.

I had some of the dragsters when they were new, including the Quartmaster, the Radio Luxemburg and the Glow Worm Capri.

Most of teh models were based on real cars that tore up the strip at Santa Pod.

Great page hear showing the Corgis and the cars they were based on.

Is that blue Police Mini a repaint? I've only ever seen the Dinky Cooper S in white, be it the original version with wheels and tyres, or the later Speedwheel version with cast boot lid surround and light box without aerial.

I’m not sure to be honest. I guess it must be as I’ve just checked a website I’ve been using to find colour variations etc and it doesn’t list that model in any other colour than white.
The later Clubman police car was available in blue, but obviously my one isn’t the Clubman. I’ll dig it out later and have a closer look. If it has been painted it’s been done reasonably well by the look of it. And they bothered to get some stickers for the doors too!

Yep I've been fascinated with hot rods, customs and dragsters since I was a kid, this year will be 29 years since my first visit to the Pod aged 16. These have their own shelf in my display cabinet

I started reading Hot Car and Custom Car in 1977. Then Street Machine and Hot Rod and Custom.

My last visit to the Pod was 33 years ago for the 1990 Bug Jam. I took my Ruby Red '63 Bug.
