I've had many of those Onyx Jags. That one is from 1989, and post the cigarette labelling on "toys" ban. The decals go a bit crispy and lift, but yours looks quite good.

Also 1989 was the last year of the soft box with the polystyrene insert. In 1990 the sleeved hard case box came out for the Onyx models.

Went to a toy fair at Bolton Wanderers stadium today, and some shopping around between vendors landed me the below:

Picked up a couple of French Dinky repros (the 4 is pale blue), and a load of HWs I've been struggling to find.
The 850 T5-R in yellow was only £retail from a very fairly priced stall, which is a big win as a lot of the Real Riders had quite a lot of markup. It was the only one I saw at the fair, and I'm bloody glad I found one as I never found one in the wild - my local Sainsbury's stocked the wagon range at one point but the 850 never showed. The green one is good, because it's the spit of a car I used to have.
The Civic EGs, I've not been able to find anywhere as people have been hoovering them up. I bought those at a slight markup, but I don't mind - that teal model is lush.
Yellow EB110 too, because GTI Club, and because they're just cool. Only found that in silver up to now.

Had a rare trip to an Asda today, managed to get myself the Majorette Toyota 2000 GT. HW selection was pretty poor there however and I didn't bother with any of them.

Also paid a visit to the Hannants model kits wholesale/mail order warehouse, which makes the stash I have out on the garage look rather miniscule (although the majority of theirs is military/aircraft). Got a 1988 Starlet by Haseagawa which was on special offer plus a load of Tamiya TS spray paint cans which were mostly down to £1.99 each and none any more than £3.99 (they're normally more like £6-7).

That Kangoo is one of the more disappointing Matchbox models I have bought. I can't understand why they didn't leave out the front windows and fit an interior?

Wouldn’t surprise me if it had an interior underneath the opaque glazing, seen a few Matchbox with hidden features. I like it but only because it looks like the sort of vehicle you’d see milling  round an oil refinery.

The Majorette DHL Kangoo EV is a nicer model.

I shone my phone torch inside as the glass is just very slightly translucent and there is sadly nothing. Some detailing and weathering would certainly get it looking like an oil refinery hack though.

Because then we wouldn’t have had the joy of fitting the Majorette windows and interior into our Matchbox ones

Majorette did both panel van and MPV bodies in mk1, but just panel van for mk2

https://majorette-model-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Renault_Kangoo

https://majorette-model-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Renault_Kangoo_Express

However, Matchbox did mk2 facelift in both panel van and MPV

https://matchbox.fandom.com/wiki/2018_Renault_Kangoo_Express

So, for that Shell oil refinery model, adapt the Majorette MPV interior along with their mk2 van screen.  Then deck the rear windows out in clear plastic sheet, as the windows are upright and flat.  Hours* of fun could be had when the photos are posted on FB and old men in Connecticut scramble to buy all the examples you have for their attic collection.

Last time I went to hannants I walked through the door, it looked like I’d walked into someone’s office. Some bloke eventually spotted us looking confused and said, “just go through those doors back there into the warehouse, pick what you want then bring it back in here and we will sort it”. No prices on anything. Think I bought something but can’t remember what or how much it was. The mail order side of things used to be good though.

Yup, still much the same although having been a few times before I knew what to do. I'd looked through their site beforehand so I knew exactly what I was going in for, also their card machine had packed-up so I was limited to what I could rustle up in cash (otherwise I'd probably have spent the month's wages).

My selection:

Halfords primer and clearcoat obviously not from there, but while we were out and about I took the opportunity of getting some with a shopping card I'd got for Christmas. I find they work well with the TS spray paints.

I got one of those Onyx Jaguars straight from the parts counter of Grange motors in about 1990! I’m not sure which livery it is, I will have to investigate. Grange motors is still a Jaguar dealer in the same place in Brentwood.

They had an XJ220 in their showroom for aaaages.

My dad and his mate decommissioned the Texaco forecourt pumps from Grange in the late 90’s when it swapped its VAG franchise for Aston Martin.
Casually mooching round the cars, the salesman pointing to the unsalable XJ220 jokingly said “hop in see if suits you” to which my dads mate did fuel stinking overalls and all 😂

@AndyW201

I dug that 1/18 Welly Astra H out of the loft as the picture I had of it was from 2011 when I was unpacking my cars after a house move.

I bought it back in 2007, before Welly quality and finish improved markedly with their Nex brand. As such it's a little crude in some areas but the CDTi engine detail is good.
