Cookiesouwest
So, my Dealer, as Mrs Cookie calls him, has sent a package for my latest fix. And what a fix it is A very large box, superbly packed to protect the precious contents. Huge thanks to @Datsuncog for taking the time and no doubt hassle of getting these bought, packed and shipped. Thank you. Remspoor, MiniMinorMk3, eddyramrod and 6 others
Datsuncog
Alright! Glad it all touched down safely - the box doesn't look like it got too bashed in transit! Hopefully that's a few more ticked off the list, or the basis for future trades - enjoy! Cookiesouwest, andrew e and RoadworkUK 2

Quite a few of the castings ended up in the 'A Century Of Cars' partwork series from yonks ago, with Solido on the base. I'm pretty sure that the first DetailCars releases from the early/ mid 1990s were developed in-house: they were mostly modern Ferrari and Lamborghini supercars, and I don't think they had any link to Solido - in those days, anyway. The place I worked at stocked a good range of Solido 1/43 diecast alongside DetailCars, and I'd like to think I'd have noticed! It's quite possible there was a later tie-in, though: I wasn't aware that DetailCars had produced a Mk1 Fiesta, but looking at pics online it does bear a strong - though not identical - resemblance to my Solido example (bought in 2004). I was going to boldly state that they were the same casting, but the fuel cap looks quite different between them - Solido's seems much larger. Hmmm. Yep, I was fairly sure that the Solido Fiesta was the same as the Detail Cars casting, albeit with the wider arches of the rally version and the fuel cap crudely tacked on to the usual Fiesta location, But like you, I'm not sure now. Its due to the Century of Cars partwork I think I've got confused between Solido and Detail Cars. I subscribed to it at first (then got bored with it, like most partworks!) and I was certain that, for example, the MG Midget and bathtub Taunus, badged as Solido for the partwork were Detail Cars castings, Dunno, I'm confused now! I've still not got over finding out that the 'Corgi' Mercedes CLK was one of many Chinese 'High Speed' castings that were sold over here with Corgi packaging. Another odd tie in... RoadworkUK
Seems like fair winds must be blowing in from Norn Iron; a fresh consignment from mr D.Cog arrived far more quickly than sundry mainland-sourced eBay winnings from much longer back.Usual exemplary packing, all traces of which have now been vanished to prevent unwelcome interest from my other half.Cheers, Tim! andrew e, AndyW201, MiniMinorMk3 and 1 other

WillCarter
Been slowly moving into and renovating a new house over the past couple of weeks, which means bags and boxes which have been sealed for a while are gradually being opened. Thought this scruffy, but appealing little oddity which unexpectedly fell out of a bag might appeal to a few of you. 1/64-ish Seat 1200 by Mira. I think this is the only Mira model I own, and I'm honestly not sure where I found it, but once I've got a bit of a display set up again I'll make sure it gets a good spot. Spottedlaurel
Little haul from a visit to Bury St Edmunds today, most of these came from a real toy shop and the Thunderbird was from a nearby Tesco the other evening: These were from the recently relocated Starlings Toymaster. They had most of the anniversary range in stock, but sadly missing the Skyline. Quite a few from the Moving Parts range and a couple of freshly opened boxes of the boxed Matchbox. Despite it being really busy a chap came and pointed out some others which he was pleased to have available - HW Premium, Jurassic Park and others. Poundland had more of the Moving Parts range, but none that appealed to me and I'd already spent a bit on materials in a real model shop. That's quite unusual, I had to resort to ordering online to get that second wave of the 54th anniversary series - and it was the Skyline that turned up on its own without the others initially! I know it's a Toyota somatorother, but I'm wondering if anyone knows who'd have made such a casting around this time? Ta.

MiniMinorMk3
Just now, bunglebus said: I reckon you must have as many models as I have toy cars. Where/how do you store them? A lot of what I am posting up are models that have come and gone. I have a 10x10 foot spare room which is about 4 foot deep in boxes, you can just open the door and get into the room and shift the odd box around. I probably have about 2,500-3,000 1/43rds, and about 500-600 Mini models. I've been collecting for almost 40 years, starting with VW models, then Porsche, then Ferrari, then anything Italian, then BMW etc etc. I have changed my collection and what I collect over the years. One of the biggest collections I sold off were the 200+ F1 Ferraris I collected during the Schumacher era. I was trying to get at least one from each year, even resorting to building 1/43rd kits to fill the gaps. I stopped buying a couple of years ago and am slowly selling them off. Most have spent their time with me in cardboard boxes not seeing the light of day. I have very few on display as trying to clean them is very hazardous to the small parts, and it doesn't matter what sort of cabinet they are in, they still get dusty.
