I also noticed that my 1/43 Norev Jet Car Peugeot 305 is made in Portugal however it's stated in French 'Fabrique en Portugal'. I have a few other Norevs and they're made in France. I'll need to see if I can find out anything more about that.

My Norev bible does list the Portugese variant, but doesn't give any more details on year etc. I think it says they were all white?

My 2 year old has finally acquired his first modern hot wheels car. He chose the beetle with wood paneling, which also kept him quiet long enough for me to finish the shopping!

I had a rummage in my old childhood car box and found 2 of my well play worn hot wheels, which I have gifted toy sons collection.

Also found this lesney VW camper in the box. Very badly painted in humbrol so I had a crack at restoring it.IMG_20220919_142720.thumb.jpg.90dd77bed7639a7b05ab7cc8ecbff48b.jpgIMG_20220919_142730.thumb.jpg.f89580b30e33e0ef6b7adf974869e154.jpg

3 days in brake fluid had most of the paint off. Quiet alot of polishing sort of salvaged the glass.

Ah, the joys of parenthood. Some formative memories you're creating there, which will include a Cadillac Seville.....

Most of my old toy cars ended up Master SL's toybox, I've since reclaimed a few 😊

Nice work on the VW camper.

A variation on the theme... I kept my childhood toys away from my son and daughter but decided that compulsory free purchase was the morally correct thing to do when some of their toys (that I fancied) became disused. As a result, I've got a nice Matchbox Taxi which was my daughter's, and from my son an obscure friction drive plastic car which I thought was a Mercedes but apparently isn't (but it still has its box!) and a plastic double decker which required some repairs after he had driven* it for a few months when aged about 3. I have also 'claimed' a couple of Citroen Light 15s of his - they're Burago brand or similar.  I'll find them tomorrow and provide photographs.

Can I be cheeky and take the 2 Kadettes? They are proving to be difficult to find for me

Didn't actually buy the Kadetts when I was in, but I'll call back and see if they're still there.

I buried them at the bottom of the tub just in case...

I might have a spare already, as someone asked for me to set one aside a few months back but hasn't been seen since...

So I scuttled back to the market just after 12, with the rain still bucketing down. My hope was that the inclement weather would have discouraged many further diecast fondlers from rocking up to trawl the stall in the intervening hours.

Were there any bananas left or the rare Costa Rican spider monkey jumping around?

As mentioned above.  The photos.

First one is my son in 1980 aged about 2.  The plastic double decker is on the floor of his prison cell play pen.  Unfortunately, the orange and red taxi lying on its side did not make it to present times. The second group of photos show the bus today in its repaired form.  The third group show the two Burago Citroens, one in its battered box, the other played with. The fourth group show the friction drive Mercedes clone, made in China, probably in the late 1980s or 90s. The fourth group show one I did not mention yesterday, a toy made in the USA which dates from 1997. It is not doing a Norev but the plastic is deteriorating.  My daughter's Matchbox taxi will have to wait because it is in a different place.

Was on a mission to Stratford upon Avon today, didn't find much of interest anywhere until I popped into the Asda Home store

Especially pleased to find that R5 as I'd only seen it in the set of 5 previously. In fact it's far too cool to keep imprisoned

Nice one - if the roof wasn't saveable you can get replacements off eBay -all orange though which may clash with your two-tone paint

Roof should be savable, I'm currently trying to paint it bright white.  Originally it would have been blue and orange which does seem an odd combination .

Nice work on the VW camper.

A Cadillac Seville bustle back, the ultimate shite Cadillac.

I'm sure I will be acquiring more hot wheels on future daddy son shopping trips. Now that I have an excuse to buy them!

It looks pretty good with the orange interior2022-10-03_08-45-28.thumb.jpg.81d50cc93e0906bceec7cf0df6d5cb0c.jpg

Although the later orange version is a bit more realistic I suppose

2022-10-03_08-47-11.jpg

Also just realised your resto is the pretty rare version with the fuel door cast in like my two blue ones - they got rid of that quitw early on so they could put a decal on the side

Whaddup. Check this tiny mutha out! It's Pilen No. 509 Bertone Stratos Zero from 1973.

20221003_201751.thumb.jpg.b0413e733b9deeff3b4652b618e2818a.jpg

Whilst I'm more a fan of '60s and earlier cars, you can't deny the impact this Gandini design had back in 1970. It's the wedgiest of all the wedges and was the template for the Countach and every copycat supercar ever since.

20221003_201955.thumb.jpg.14dccd5408dd7ea78c56e84a0747ae10.jpg

It's also another 'original' Pilen model, and perhaps one of the best, although it's quite simple in exectution it just feels 'right'

Sadly missing its windscreen and steering wheel, but this is rare to find in any condition and particularly with such good paint. Missing parts can, in theory, be replaced some day.

20221003_202014.thumb.jpg.8caf106cf33e835dd9c79f7481341468.jpg

There's not much to it, really, but it's got a beautiful Lancia narrow-angle V4 from the Fulvia HF, couple of a transaxle.

20221003_201854.thumb.jpg.1a0772faffa450518587fb6ccbcec356.jpg

Sadly impossible to photograph (by me) but the rear panel includes a tiny and accurate Stratos HF badge.

20221003_202032.thumb.jpg.bfc2730a8c98fdc3e0bb46e2e48475df.jpg

Little bit of base detail. The accurate wheels are different sizes front and back and the whole thing is TINY - just like the real car. I love it!

That yellow and blue Dinky double-decker is an interesting conversion. Someone's filled in the rear platform and cut out a front entrance instead. It was probably done a long time ago as that sort of work was common back in the sixties when these were pretty much all that was available.

New stuff! This Dinky caravan...

20221005_183751.thumb.jpg.03e279385983f507a5c83cb2fbd995f2.jpg20221005_183759.thumb.jpg.d4a0aeab1926f4d169446251dd7dfef9.jpg

Came along with this Dinky Beetle that may become a resto. Or not as it's just nicely playworn

20221005_182650.thumb.jpg.dea730622bee88654d3e914fdd246cfb.jpg20221005_182656.thumb.jpg.0133a99eed5f016fab659ca8a35b8e47.jpg

As a consequence of placing multiple bids, I also ended up with this one...

20221005_182716.thumb.jpg.c24ae58e4d01c4e9618f948d6d7617e7.jpg20221005_182722.thumb.jpg.06f877a4b0e96ac7cb49c776cb08fd71.jpg

Which looks better but is a fairly obvious repaint so may be the better resto candidate. There's a base variation too, with/out the 181 stamping

20221005_182727.thumb.jpg.a632a1b67c79500550b9295180c7f62a.jpg20221005_182701.thumb.jpg.6a6115baa7f7cb40caf1d04269539beb.jpg

Staying with the Volkswagen theme, found this Dragon Wheels with a less common wheel pairing

20221005_182458.thumb.jpg.c782c00ac92f9a5c11828de7f57a6b34.jpg

And some of the Mebetoys/Hot Wheels creations

20221005_182915.thumb.jpg.0d12d319010d232f05e6e4583250e2ad.jpg20221005_182840.thumb.jpg.e31caa377dd0304aff309abd2eeec948.jpg20221005_182748.thumb.jpg.a4f00573960510b1398c37314f8b160b.jpg

Lastly I spotted a job lot of Matchbox with a couple of interesting ones
