Jumajo haul?

Heh, nope - sadly not. With the new house and rather constrained finances, there'll be no splurges on euro-diecast for the foreseeable, if ever again...

This is my one semi-illicit concession to model collecting these days, other than the occasional Hot Wheels or Matchbox which may slip into the shopping basket.

The aim of the game is to get to the parcels box out the front before MrsDC does...

That's all that the Poundlands round here have had for yonks - nothing in the way of Hot Wheels mainlines or specials, either new or older. They used to be really good for that.

Home Bargains can be decent, if there's any of those near you - it's where I found the drift 240 a few weeks ago (which is still available, if anyone fancies it).

Poundstretcher recently had a load of Matchbox releases from 2019 or thereabouts in cardboard boxes, but I haven't been back there for a while to see if there's any more...

I will have the 240 if I can't find one in the next week or so. How much are you after.

Do you have any MK7 transits / Nissan Sunny estates or K10 Micras?

Sure thing - the Volvo cost me £1.49 out of HB, so just looking to cover the purchase price plus post (£2.85 for 2nd class small parcel).

Nope, not at present - but our local Tesco's been dry of diecast for weeks, so there's BOUND to be a delivery coming soon.

I'll keep an eye out for those too - obviously a parcel with more than one diecast in it makes more sense!

Sure let me know if/ when you want me to post it, no rush!

Don't know if I have posted these before but these are some old pics of my collection. I have quite a few more now.

I pretty much mainly collect Hot wheels and I have quite a few more now. Japanese are my favourites to collect but I like the older stuff as well. Mad Manga being my favourite model.

I am always open to trades and swaps.

Ok, enough teasing:

I've been REALLY looking forward to receiving this one from Corgi Model Club.

I was practically twitching trying to get it out of the box.

Oh yes.

621750396_IMG_20220922_1047072.thumb.jpg.3aa1d264932393ef763cb067acd31ba8.jpg

Oh, very yes.

This is tremendous.

Rhinestones and rhinos. What a combination.

So yes, a remanufactured version of the Corgi #256 VW 1200 in East African Safari trim.

And it's just lovely.

Whereas Dinky had a no-frills Beetle in their line-up from 1956, rather incredibly Corgi didn't model one until this came along in December 1965.

But it was worth the wait - featuring an opening bonnet and boot, plus steerable wheels, delicately cast bumpers and rally decals.

It all looks really good, including the unpainted base.

Quite a bit of info printed on the back of the box insert, too:

And Blue DTC's own blurb too:

Verdict: an absolute belter.

Truly bowled over to have this in the collection.

That looks brilliant Datsun, especially with the working play feature. Got to be honest though, if I was getting charged at by a rhinoceros I'd hope I was in something a bit quicker and more substantial than a 1200cc Beetle.

O/T I went with my dad and the kids to the safari park a few weeks ago, and my dad mentioned a trip he'd done in the 70s with some kids from the children's home he used to work at. Apparently they took a Land Rover which was (and still is) a commonly used safari park vehicle. They spent the whole circuit being trailed by hungry African beasts expecting food. Pretty much the last place I'd want to be when surrounded by lions or hippos is in a 20mph aluminium shed with dodgy door locks and a reputation for suddenly breaking down.

That's the one I'm most looking forward to too, I was wondering whether they'd use the RHD or LHD interior - for some reason Corgi made both

20201115_121103

I would guess that the later German police one is LHD but every one I've found has the steering wheel rattling around inside, so I can't be sure...

Just noticed they've added a VW roundel to the base that the original doesn't have

Didn't know that about the steering wheel variation - and reassuring to know that its spontaneous detachment is a bit of a known thing...

Yup, this is the first Corgi Model Club release that overlaps with one of my own long-termers. The steering wheel has been rattling round the inside for as long as I've owned it (~30 years), and going by the hole in the dash this would be a left-hooker version, like the repro.

707462272_IMG_20220923_1202252.thumb.jpg.5162ba37674ab214b1d766e8af78e323.jpg

Interesting to compare the two side by side - I dunno if my original's just faded a bit, but the paintwork looks a lot more orangey than the reproduction's pillar-box red.

This was another car boot sale find from the mid-1990s, I believe - at one point I did have a selection of mismatched tyres on it, but I must have borrowed them for another project.

I really, really like this casting - and the diorama box insert and plastic rhino figurine really make it.

I think I saw the model and its packaging depicted in some book on diecast collecting, and I've coveted one ever since.

Course, an original is well outside my meagre budget, so I'm well pleased to have the repro for a fairly reasonable £25.

And yes - the VW roundel is a new addition to the base, probably insisted on by the licensing wonks. Lettering is slightly different too, but overall it's a pretty faithful recreation.

I'm just kinda worried everything else will feel like an anticlimax now...

I always wondered about the relevance of the big mudflaps and wellington boots in the luggage compartment of my Polizei version, now I know.  I also have a later incarnation of this casting, much simplified as the blue driving school car. No opening features, jewelled headlights or mudflaps. I'm fairly sure that the final release was a plain casting with whizzwheels.

Another bargain Mira from ebay. I think its been repainted but for £6.34 posted I think that's OK.

Screenshot_20220923-202706_eBay.thumb.jpg.e2c221008d082a7a6535d3976b70875f.jpgScreenshot_20220923-202720_eBay.thumb.jpg.8051e2e4accf68c14aa47a899a8dd6f4.jpg

I think I have one of these from just about every manufacturer now.

Smaller scale I have this one, Majorette and Norev Mini-Jet.

1/43 Scale I have a Solido, Joel and a Norev Solara.

I think I'm only missing the original Norev and the Spanish Dinky? Does anyone know ofnthe latter was re-issued by Pilen?

Corgi got a LOT of mileage out of that casting

A couple of new arrivals - Matchbox Brut Corvette in better shape than my current one

And this Zylmex Renault 17, a bit expensive but not common, I really like the 17 having only found out they existed a few years ago

20220924_082630.thumb.jpg.8026c8993e1789163b257b409836d40e.jpg20220924_082624.thumb.jpg.b6159d72c0343f883568bfd1eda92073.jpg20220924_082634.thumb.jpg.ac6a240a2b1e93baee700662407af805.jpg

At some point I'll dig out the other makes for comparison

There should have also been the 1303 shape Beetle and Citroen DS from Galanite (that I don't collect) but despite showing as delivered are AWOL
