I've picked up a few, this Corvette was the last

20211208_130920

Then there's the @Datsuncogsourced Camaro

20211007_150305

The above-mentioned Rover 2000TC, still need a spare wheel cover for this

20210526_161939

And a battered Marcos that went off to one of you lot IIRC?

20190805_161117

I have the rover 2000, corvette and Hillman hunter.

I actually prefer the whizzwheels because I was hatched in the early 70's - I have the whizzwheels camaro and rover 2000. The rover is a bit battered - boxed they command a small fortune.

For fifty pee, I wasn't going to leave this little honey at the charity shop, was I?

Lesney / England Jeep CJ8 in agonisingly close to mint condition. So pleased was I that I actually rounded it up to a quid.

Yeah, I know, get Mr Moneybags here, but it's for charidee, innit.

I bought my brother this while at Chester zoo  in 1981. It was the green version. I wrongly assumed he would be over the moon - he was pissed off when he saw I had bought for myself the superfast trans am - the gold one.

Found an actual model shop yesterday, closed because Sunday but had a Vanessa's Lunchbox on display

I went into Model Junction in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday, it was really busy! It's not a big shop but they have a good range of kits, R/C, Scalextrix, planes and trains. No diecasts of any appreciable amount however. I was good and only bought paint and blades.

Sadly the Langleys model shop in Norwich isn't as good as it used to be, but at least they're still going.

Beatties I think you went down a few steps to a lower retail area, it’s changed so vastly in those row of shops it’s impossible to tell. Cole’s is getting turned into an entertainment venue supposedly with rooftop football pitches.

Red gates was to the left at top of moor. Games etc down stairs ,diescasts/slot cars etc ground floor , babies/toddlers 1st floor.

Langleys model shop in Norwich

I probably caught Langleys in something of a golden age, circa 2005/6. I used to visit Norwich pretty regularly because I had a fuel card and was determined to use it. Whenever I visited they seemed to have certain 1:18 AUTOart models at knock-down prices. My 007 Esprit Turbo and P38 Range Rover came from there.

They've moved the main toyshop to elsewhere in town, and merged the model shop that was upstairs with a second place they had selling secondhand/collectible stuff in a different shop. The diecasts were something I recall from my visits there in the past.

Recent chatter about Golden Jacks reminded me I had one more Corgi album left to scan, the oldest I have - 1970. Seems Corgi saw the "Take Off Wheels" as a bigger gimmick than the jacks, although we seem to refer to the series as "Golden Jacks" these days

I like that 'Project X' model which is "available later" (what a strange phrase. Did people not say "coming soon" in 1970?) as it is so utterly vague that it could literally be anything. Why even bother advertising it? You might as well just write "another toy car". I've googled it, and no.313 was the Ford Cortina Mk3, which doesn't seem remotely exciting enough to warrant the subterfuge.

You have to put it into context. There could have ben an embargo on any news about a third incarnation of the Cortina when Corgi published this. The real car was on sale from October 1970.

The Mk3 was a huge thing for Fords at the time. It replaced the old MK2 (obviously ) and the Corsair. Unlike the Mk1 and Mk2 there was very little carried over to the Mk3. I think the Kent engines and maybe gearboxes only.

Rather strangely I have just found a Corgi catalogue from 1981 (in with some old photos) and was trying to search this topic to see if I had posted any pics of it when I did several others. Anyway I found the same one as Bunglebus (but mine are crappy phone pics rather than scans like his) along with some others on pages 433/434 but can't find the 1981 one. However it made me wonder if there's an easy way of searching for this sort of thing or could there be a thread with an index for them? I'm sure there must be a lot I didn't see and would like to.

Edit; I've just found the same 1981 catalogue, posted by Bunglebus on page 464...

I actually have two of them, so if you'd like one let me know...

Yes corgi had been given access to the MK3 so that they could launch the toy simultaneously with the real thing in October 70, the maize yellow ones with red int where given to purchasers of a real MK3 at the time.

Hermes person just knocked and legged it, leaving a parcel on my step. Contained a very mixed bag from at least 7 different brands, mainly I was after this Hot Wheels Minitrek

Majorette Morgan is actually a pretty good effort, I just find the cars a bit too string-backed gloves for my liking

Anyone recognise this Honk Kong Spiderman Corvette with a key-car type launch mechanism?

On a trip to London, my wife bought back a double decker London bus model for our young son. Typical tourist tat shop, Chinese made , they’d even spelt London wrong , it said LODON on the side.

Next trip to London , I spot a TX1 black taxi cab. I said to my wife, remember the toy bus?, look they’ve done something like it on a real taxi. It wasn’t until we’d seen some TX2,3 etc that she caught on.

@Datsuncogtat box arrived today, always feels like opening a box of sweeties.

Tailgate for this Transit added to my list of stuff I need from Steve Flowers, this is as close as I've found to the red late MK1 I remember having as a kid but disappeared mysteriously

I known it's overpainted etc but it still feels like a goodun, the side door fits absolutely perfectly. There were also some boxed Matchbox, quite surprised that the Chevy van was up for grabs - and I'd love to know how an Australian issue ended up in NI!

Funny enough one of the few other boxed MB I have from this era is that green IROC Camaro, obtained from @andrew e! It must be fate...
