Six-cylinder
My latest car purchase yesterday was 1986 230TE estate W123 shape and as my model collection is every car I own in 1:43 I need a model. Has anybody got a 1:43 scale Mercedes Estate W123 shape they can sell me? RichardK

Links to Polistil and Kees but probably sold as Golden Wheels. Think Polistil made them for Kees but the moulds later went to Golden Wheels. Base of my MK3 Escort is clearly from the same series and you can just about make out where KEES has been removed Very nice Golf! junkyarddog

Like the seats sliding forward. But I do question why. It must have added some cost to the product yet added little to the play worthiness of the car. Opening doors, bonnet etc I can understand. The addition of jacks to this and other cars was a innovative. I had one of these as a kid , around 1970? There was a Rover 3500 ( or was it a 2000) as well with the removable wheels but I can’t remember any others.
eddyramrod
The Golden Jacks Rover was supposed to be a 2000TC, I think. Should get myself another one of those, the one I had from new didn't survive. Other models issued with the Jacks were the Chevrolet Camaro, Oldsmobile Toronado, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow coupe, Chevrolet Corvette, Hillman Hunter Rally car and I'm sure there were, or should have been, others. ETCHY
The golden jacks cars were cool. It was a Rover 2000TC if i recall correctly i had one as a kid. I liked the clear glazed triplex type roof it had and boot mount spare. You could buy packs of replacement wheels with tyres for golden jacks models. Cool idea, toy vehicles were great then so innovative. Remspoor and eddyramrod

I restored one (in a Code 3 yellow) last year, so I really shouldn't have let it slip past, should I? I was aware that Whizzwheels had ousted the Golden Jacks but even at the time, didn't think much of that as a marketing choice. Not Corgi's last mistake, for sure... RichardK
I had those Sierras! My parents offered to get me a toy in... probably Coles or similar, would have been a Sheffield sort of place. Anyway, I wanted a Transformer - Hot Rod? Was one of the really plasticky ones. They refused, and pointed out they could get a 'slot racing set' for the same price as the 'overpriced plastic tat'. The Sierras. They have working lights, and the kit runs off a bunch of D or C cells. Thing about slot racing sets, is it's only racing if someone else comes over to play, and my parents were weird about that. And the batteries lasted all of two seconds. Whereas a Transformer could have been taken to school and played with WITH people. Still amusing to see some of them again - and they did at least get that I really liked XR4is. andrew e

Beatties I think you went down a few steps to a lower retail area, it’s changed so vastly in those row of shops it’s impossible to tell. Cole’s is getting turned into an entertainment venue supposedly with rooftop football pitches.
