And here's a round up of my year in miniature shite!

All this year?

I like your little diorama. I should try and knock-up something similar up for my 1:24/1:25 kits - now I don't have the flat roof and expansive views for a photo location, I need to try something different.

I'm trying to get all my copies and originals in one place for a group picture - a harder task than I first thought!

I did lead me to realise that what I thought was another Gruesome Twosome copy by Lucky is actually different. Did they change it due to copyright infringements or just because they could?

20211229_09511220200806_171704

Then you get into what constitutes a copy? Is this

20210828_132020

a big-ass version of this?

Anyway - looks like I have my work cut out

A surprise delivery yesterday was this Corgi Junior Ironside van20220101_095159.thumb.jpg.c356a1dd9e62ca412b77add6f2b1d73b.jpg

I saw it on FB Marketplace on Thursday,it was fairly local, but I'd just tested positive for Covid so couldn't go to collect.I paid him to post it,& thought I'd get it next week.

I got a knock on the door yesterday morning, old chap had bought it round for me 😁20220101_095210.thumb.jpg.27f0cf57d04a7314626e751a1232e41b.jpg

Looking back,I think I saw this at a car boot back in the autumn, but didn't have enough left to buy it.

Really please with this one,it's not mint, but still very nice, and complete20220101_095551.thumb.jpg.8a22b314b338cafbce7acb00370aa4c1.jpg

Anyway - thought I'd look back at how many cars got tinkered with in 2021 - about half what I achieved in 2020 but considering six months were spent dealing with an extremely difficult family situation that occupied most of our waking hours, I think I did OK

Where did you get the dinky Lupo from?

It's a Welly. Lupos in miniature seem to command a premium so I grab them whenever I see them. There's a larger version with opening doors I'd like to find

Yep just looked on eBay there. Can confirm they're well out of my price bracket. I'll stick to trying to find dinky Fabias in the meantime. Haha.

One of the eBay ones is mine - bought for 50p and currently at £22. Got to pay for my habit somehow...

Yep that's the one!

As consolation, I bought a £20ish red Fabia wagon in 1/43. I'll post photographs once it's here.

The Golf is the new Matchbox casting with a coat of paint plus old Superfast wheels

The Escort is a Dinky police car that I'd tried several times to repaint but the casting is just awful and full of casting flaws - so I thought this treatment would work better

They're great! That Dinky Escort is a terrible casting.

Not sure what scale you're interested in, but in 1/76:
Scania 94D - done by Oxford Diecast but not very well as it's a bodge to fit the Volvo FH chassis

DAF 1900 - sadly not

Roadrunner - resin cab by Road Transport Images

Magnum - done nicely by Corgi, long out of production but still pops up on ebay etc. fairly often

Kudos on proposing to hack Stobart tat as there's too much of it about. I'm single-handedly responsible for the desecration/improvement of many, half a dozen in the last month alone.

This not buying diecast until well after New Year is going well.

So today's arrival was this,

IMG_20220101_203653.thumb.jpg.bdb2c381ce3634828f93c3e2069ef9c8.jpg

After years (and probably a sizeable amount of £, I haven't dared to add it up) of collecting Vanguards, I've never gone for an MGB. However just before Christmas, I saw this example on a well-known auction site stalled on its £6 starting bid... Which I got it for.

IMG_20220101_204828.thumb.jpg.00b3e6627bd8c52e331f2ef5e0cc4bfd.jpg

Missing it's cardboard outer cover, but complete with display case, collectors card and soft top still taped to the plinth.

IMG_20220101_210855.thumb.jpg.b8c848f35ffe9679ef443ec458a965fe.jpg

This one dates from that weird short lived 'Drive Time' phase of Vanguards which was divided into many sub-sections like classic, modern, racing and emergency.

IMG_20220101_203732.thumb.jpg.ead99e363c17398deb5db612c4523fe0.jpg

Weird really how ubiquitous the MGB is and there still really aren't that many proper collector-quality models of it in this scale. This one, in chrome-bumper soft top with chrome wires spec is a bit 'MGB by numbers'. I would have preferred one of the more '70s style variants like the aconite purple or saffron one with Rostyles, or one of the rubber bumper variants, (better still a BGT!), but they tend to go for strong money still.

IMG_20220101_205117.thumb.jpg.90c35bd41e479a4b8fdd55ad4a6ec525.jpg

Anyway,  they seem to have done a good job on the MGB, the shape is well captured. I did have a scary moment when I thought the screen was cracked but it turned out to be the support that goes up the screen for the rear view mirror...🤭

Not a bad attempt at wires. At least there are actual spokes , albeit with a solid black wheel behind them.

IMG_20220101_205018.thumb.jpg.27350eeec5d9d56e54b4ba5bcec0bc47.jpg

The interior, such as it is, isn't too bad. Decent detail on the steering wheel at least.

IMG_20220101_205352.thumb.jpg.5e8d88e107d24900d9d86915ef8cb6ad.jpg

The convertible roof is a pretty good representation.

With the roof up, I realised that with very little work at all, I will have another pretty good character car from the '70s BBC haulage company drama 'The Brothers'.

To go with the Daytona yellow base Consul with sports wheels owned in the show by elder brother Ted,

IMG_20200510_112251.thumb.jpg.7ebe556969f7a153a5afa8aecb94cecc.jpg

I now have the MGB owned by younger brother Dave,

IMG_20220101_205407.thumb.jpg.8bc24490b8a011326539657fe05a7c7e.jpg

Change of number plate and we're good, I think.

The base model Arrow series Minx owned by middle brother Brian may be more tricky without much modification of the Corgi rally Hunter...

IMG_20220101_201732.jpg

IMG_20220101_201721.jpg

A quick trip to Tesco netted me these. No Sierra though, natch. I can see me having to get that bastard online....

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers The Brothers! :)

Incidentally: Leyland Roadrunner?  Done by Matchbox in their Superkings range, as a rigid with either four or six wheels; also IIRC as an artic unit.  I have half a dozen or so, so it can't be exactly rare or expensive!

@eddyramrod I remember The Brothers as well!    Some of it was shot locally to me in Hammonds Transport yard at Sittingbourne, they were a clearing house as well as transport operators and i done a few local jobs for them. They ran mainly AEC lorries from memory.

Yep, I remember that, Paul Barber and Philip Whitchurch.  The brothers were dodgy as hell, but PW later turned up as a senior officer in The Bill!

An Autobianchi A112 by Majorette that was yellow when I bought it. I did a shite respray with some "Chilli Red" spray paint without sanding the yellow off. So now it's bubbled up like shite rust. I didn't pay much for it either, so not all is lost. Haha.
