Shite in Miniature II

Efsi seem to have spent most of their time pumping out vintage cars, but occasionally turned their hand to other things, like this Fiat 242. I'm sure the ill fitting sliding door was faithful copied from the original

another unusual choice to recreate comes from Majorette in the shape of a Toyota Tercel

A break from the box to have a look at some more Johnny Lightning models.

1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance. Same as the previously shown Ghostbuster castings, but this time in a coroner's car livery.

1971 Pontiac GTO.

1966 Cadillac Hearse.

In other miniature shite news, I'm working toward building a diorama or two (or several thousand until they consume my house). Below is just a test bed. I've been trying different techniques, materials etc., to get the hang of it.

Back to the Johnny Lightning stuff. They look too small when compared with other 1:64. Here's a Greenlight Crown Vic for comparison. They're about the same size, yet a caddy hearse should be noticeably bigger.

IMG_0573.JPG.1c7b0576d384539e0999ae73e3374456.JPG

Think I'm going to be very selective about buying any more Johnny Lightning stuff as they don't look right when displayed alongside other manufacturers.

Pleasantly crisp and leafy morning today. Wet at home, but dry by the time I arrived in Belfast, which was nice.

No sign of the Adidas Avenger today, but it's good to know that he's still around. I guess Batman would feel at a bit of a loose end if the Joker packed up and moved out of Gotham...

Not a lot on the stall this morning, in terms of diecast:

281573223_IMG_20211105_0901162.thumb.jpg.3b4c987430356e446dbaebfa832cd029.jpg

Matchbox Superfast track pack was nice to see, though also filthy and likely incomplete.

But behold, at the bottom of a box...

Mmm, some early 70s Super Kings and Speed Kings goodness.

1913825938_IMG_20211105_0904072.thumb.jpg.e183ef3638eae420db684d9a5d1b0fda.jpg

Nissan pretty borked, Mercedes C111 a bit the worse for wear too, but the Camping Cruiser and Marauder weren't too bad.

Battleship in front is a Hong Kong item, not Minic.

Scammell log hauler had a surprisingly complete tractor unit, with grille and horns still intact, though trailer missing its tow loop and with a snapped log holder-onner.

722529774_IMG_20211105_0905202.thumb.jpg.5fefd70ff9b1f2980ddecd5a25339f7f.jpg

Muir-Hill missing tyres and such, but the Super Bulldozer was quite nice with the tracks still intact.

1498908332_IMG_20211105_0905022.thumb.jpg.bce0d6b8d4582dc4b5a394d3d32c7356.jpg

Galanite Ford D-Series ladder truck also appealing, if quite toy-like (not apparently a fire engine - just a truck with a ladder turntable?)

1481963356_IMG_20211105_0906542.thumb.jpg.15c42bd414fa7926387024450e85e2ae.jpg

Tonka double-axle tipper was in reasonable nick, and I think that trailer might belong with the Super Kings Muir-Hill...

1647071655_IMG_20211105_0905572.thumb.jpg.3c1babd8f84c7eeb9d12b11d8ee3ef13.jpg

Other debris included some Britains farm stuff, some Corgi and Matchbox odds and ends, plus the inevitable MoY.

Not sure how much he's looking for these, but probably not much more than a pound or two.

The weird bits of plastic all over the bottom of the box had fallen out of this:

1829236304_IMG_20211105_0907452.thumb.jpg.2798701c52b97ffc77420ff09b89b39c.jpg

Seemingly some sort of German take on Lego from the 1970s, calling itself Baks by a company called Herbart. Or maybe it's the other way round.

1811118623_IMG_20211105_0907522.thumb.jpg.61b11505541c391318e3cda1180b77db.jpg

Because I'm strange, I picked all the loose bits out of the tat box and put them back in their torn blister pack. Market Blokey thanked me while closing the packaging up with a few elastic bands, no doubt wondering why he attracts all the weirdos.

There was also quite a lot of authentic Lego there too, some of it very early-looking stuff.

A wander round the other stalls revealed very little; the Charity Stall remains focused on realising £5 a pop on the Bburago 1/43 and 1/24 stuff, and no-one seems awfully keen to pay that...

1599301411_IMG_20211105_0919212.thumb.jpg.3e4ffd500458a8572d5cfa5680b1186d.jpg

He's sold a few more racing Jags, though.

445780783_IMG_20211105_0919142.thumb.jpg.827d3cd38a73115f6eab20000466f77c.jpg

Some local-interest Corgis up above, though - a Belfast trolleybus by OOC and a Belfast tram by Corgi Classics.

Doubtless pricey.

The boxed Buddy L 'Pump and Go' Firebird from last week was still there too.

Nothing of note anywhere else at the market, but I'm currently mooching around the city centre waiting for a pair of boots to be re-soled, so if there's anything here you're mad keen for, I could probably slip back and see if it's still around...

A grand Friday to you all, gentle tat-fondlers.

I had a load of those warships, came with harbour pieces never seen another in the Flesh.....till now!!

and how much was the Bull Shit corner sign....as I have a fantastic place for that LOL

Any will do including damaged, as long as the hatchback area has survived (usually the weak point of course!).  Ditto the 800/Sterling.  As previously mentioned, what I want to do is make a mk2 800 fastback to resemble the one I had in 2017/18.

Saw. glue and file will be my friends here.  You can see why I don't want to pay very much!

Lledo 'Days Gone' HP Sauce van. Not sure on the make/model. The front wheels sit too low and far forward. Possibly crush damage. I might have a go at drilling out the base and see what I can do repair wise.

Next, a wind-up Smart City Coupe by Maisto. Purchased from Asda around '99/'00. 1:33 scale, so doesn't look right with anything.

@Justwatching That is an Austin/Morris LD van, 1960s if i remember correctly.

I have one of those Lledo LDs with Enfield Pageant decals from attending there back in the '90s (1996 apparently). As I recall they did similar for at least a couple of years instead of plaques (the plaque board people must have been furious). A quick look suggests I'm not going to get rich if I sold it, and I quite like it as it's not a generic Model A.

Ah you poor nieve fool. There's always another B1600 to find - in this case the darker gold Hulk version

20211109_124354.thumb.jpg.1544cc33ba86ac0304a95d81579e4c1b.jpg20211109_124401.thumb.jpg.ecb9731377d41602e6a70319db290efc.jpg

Talking of gold, and things I can't seem to resist buying - I noticed another Giftware Sand Cat ashtray that looked in even better condition than the one(s) I'd found before. Somehow it survived being posted in a ziplock bag and brown paper with not an ounce of padding

Finally another variation I've been chasing - Matchbox AMX Javelin in red, with clear glass and white interior

Like those old Lesney Giftware tat things. They were the typical gift you’d buy for a bloke at Xmas, whenever I used to pick them up they without exception always were dusty as fuck and stank of fags. I had a few years ago but just have an ashtray at the side of the bed still to put my change in. And I don’t even smoke.

I only like the Sand Cat ashtray and Street Rod calendar/pen holder thing, the Yesteryear stuff doesn't float my boat.

I don't think they used those two cars for anything else, so no Sand Cat trinket boxes or Street Rod ashtrays. I've seen a picture of a red Sand Cat ashtray but I'm starting to believe it was made after the fact using the red upper body from the version that came on a transporter.

Argghh I've just bought a LLEDO DAYS GONE MORRIS LD VAN

I had one of those, with HMP Wormwood Scrubs decals on it.

Days_Gone_Vanguards_Morris_LD150.jpg.25c8b010c9b6242442bceb5fa8933e3c.jpg

(Not my pic)

I remember being pretty excited when the new casting was released in the early 1990s as part of Lledo's new Vanguards range - not only did it have glazing, it was nearer the era of stuff I really liked, rather than the pre-war stuff that most DGs represented.

A few years later though, I acquired a Vitesse model of a Morris LD150, which seemed like a big step up (and so it should, given the price difference).

Vitesse_Morris_LD150.jpg.ed5dce48ca8d36e99667fdb525672579.jpg

(Not my pic either)

Around that time, Days Gone just stopped appealing to me - I started to prefer the consistency of 1/43 stuff, and models by the likes of Corgi Classics just seemed so much better with their rubber tyres and detail, plus they were modelling unusual things like the Saab 95.

But I guess it was the Lledo stuff that bridged the gap between being a kid collecting toy cars to play with, and serious model-collecting as a hobby. They were affordable to my pre-teen self - and who knows, one day I might get all dewy-eyed and nostalgic over them... (I flogged them all on years ago).
