Shite in Miniature II

It appears to be VW day today, this Auto-Pilen Buggi Playero is missing a few bits like the seat backs, windscreen and hood - but isn't something that pops up for sale very often so I had to grab it. It's quite a heavyweight and is held together with a machine screw, which should make repairs easier. I've already fixed the broken rear suspension (although I cheated in the pics and propped it up)

Along with it arrived this Lucky Toys MK1 Golf, only a small section of bumper AWOL on this one

There's one on eBay now complete with caravan, place bets now on how much that will fetch...

Having a Google of what the Auto Pilen buggy buggi should look like

The style, especially the roof and running board treatment, plus the base locating tab sticking through the front look very familiar

It's mind boggling how much some of these crude plastic toys fetch now.

A few are nice enough to put on the shelf like the large Fiat 127 I bought from Datsuncog a couple of years ago but I'm not sure I'd display something like the Golf.

It's not a badly proportioned thing really, Lucky did quite a good job unlike many others. It's very likely modelled on the Matchbox Superfast or Superkings version, as Lucky have a bit of a history of making large plastic versions of other company's castings.

You saw the Lucky Gruesome Twosome copies the other day, then there's this

Now anyone could have made an L&M Porsche/Audi CanAm racer, but you have to wonder...

I got it from here a while ago thinking I could use it for 1/36 Corgi & Matchbox cars, but they look lost on it.The trailer is a larger scale copy of the one found in the ones given away at Esso stations in the nineties, although the cab is totally different20211006_204418.thumb.jpg.7d40d9b293250acd2b8c495b2603966f.jpg

Lucky Toys No.3190 Made in Hong Kong.

Clearly a Volkswagen Golf Mk1, pleasing to see in 5-door guise for a change.  Sold either alone in various guises, or in this stickered 'Rallye Racing' livery from a set labelled 'Weekend'.  The Caravan style may look familiar to 1:36 Corgi afficionados.

32865767_s-l1600(3).jpg.ff0f601d2af4dc7473d95661db70eada.jpg

What we have here is a white example still with its (typically faded) stickers intact.

Spotted in a Hitchin 'antique bric-a-brac' shop cabinet, two summer's back.  Being in Hitchin, in a shop of that type, and not only in a locked glazed cabinet with a load of Dinky, it was bound to be at an inflated and non-negotiable price.  Being 40+ years old, things did not look good.

The  dreaded PRICE TAG ON STRING said £8.  But then, my french niece said over my shoulder 'that's you, that is' in her broken English.  It was fated.  £8 was paid up.  The parking was £4 anyway.

IMG_2603.thumb.JPG.27316d7439357d069e4d5f39c43a6ad4.JPG

The friction motor frictions and the opening bonnet opens, revealing perhaps an authentic modelling of the engine.  It measures to 1:29 scale and being a Lucky, the base is screwed home, not glued; so is perfect for what I had in mind (eventually).

But what Ken and Dolly did do was take it away dogging camping for the weekend, complete with their matching Lucky Toys tent and dinghy on trailer.  The weekend went well, although Ken got a bit sore.

Good to see some Lucky Toys Golf Action on Tat Wednesday

This one has a bit of a story, quote above

I did say 'a bit'

I was told that Ken is still sore.

Called into Tesco last night to find that the diecast dump bins on this side of the water have been replenished too - well, sort of.

The orange Matchbox rummage bin seems to have gone, and instead there were two factory cardboard boxes containing Matchbox. They'd been fairly well rifled through, but still a fair amount of the new stuff remaining. A further case of Matchbox had been thrown into the Hot Wheels bin, although there appeared to be some newer HWs in there too, at the bottom.

Matchbox priced at £1.25, Hot Wheels at £1.50.

There was also the latest MB gift set containing the elusive Mk1 Capri, which sorely tempted me at £8.

I did chuck a lot of the new stuff into my basket in my usual over-excited manner, but then gave my head a bit of a wobble and put most of them back again.

Came away with these two, though:

Both nicely rendered, well detailed wee things. Matchbox have such a decent range right now - while I appreciate the recent dearth has been down to global logistics issues of getting stuff shipped from the Far East to the rest of the world, these really do deserve better distribution than the Tesco toy aisle.

I may be back...

Deliveries, most significantly from @Datsuncog

First up, a Corgi I didn't recognise at all when it popped up on Tat Friday, Fiat 2100 with at least 50% of its pink paint missing. Possible repaint if I get around to it

20211007_150339.thumb.jpg.7e834546c87dcf3f45659210a54232ca.jpg20211007_150343.thumb.jpg.117e0c10b7636072ff1fdb54ccfb4597.jpg

Most definitely not getting painted as it's near mint is this Corgi Golden Jacks Camaro SS. Other than the windscreen and a 25% wheel shortage, this thing is amazing. Never having got my grubby mitts on one before I was awesomified by the sliding headlight covers

20211007_150143.thumb.jpg.481d4664ca3d3463f2e25ce0beecd232.jpg20211007_150208.thumb.jpg.743249eb2daad0a3a791067732dfc03f.jpg20211007_150305.thumb.jpg.b7370a48e901950abadaa2a4afc1c542.jpg20211007_150256.thumb.jpg.ad946e6b5619640d6a222e4e266b2e17.jpg

Included as a "packing piece" was this Road Champs Corvette, shame one of the fire exits has gone missing as the opening hatch is a nice touch

20211007_150646.thumb.jpg.02b30a56888b16e425ad9f1a2c97413d.jpg20211007_150700.thumb.jpg.dbad62e99c312cccf8f55f605af4a13a.jpg

Which leads me on nicely to these packaged Road Champs and Play Makers I found

Lastly, who knows the story behind Corgi  Super Sonics? Looks to me like a far Eastern pullback rebranded
