Yes for a whistle stop Tat Friday, though proper pics may have to wait - no new stuff is probably the main takeaway, but some previous stuff of declared shiter interest has been procured at target price, although with a caveat...

More to come maybe about midday; gotta dash.

Whatever happened to the 50p box? 🤣

I did a bad thing.  I broke the beyond £5 barrier and got this.

Dinky Ford Mercury Cougar

Well they seem to be sought-after and are bid-away, usually.  Some scuffs and small crack in rear glazing, but very pleased as it has the NUMBER PLATES still.

Tiny Tom likes it

IMG_1029.thumb.JPG.c91bcf28c6b1a06b1ccb874c0852662e.JPG

It has OPENING THINGS and also a SLIDEY THING -  the rear deck aerial can retract into the body

Tom also found that it has also had the STEERING WHEEL DELETE anti-theft option

POST LADY braved the rain and delivered a box of old plastic toy cars, all of them Hong Kong's finest, no less.

One of them was this no-name GT for a penny under £2, as part of a bulk lot from same seller.  It seems to want to be a Ferrari P3/P4, so it's from 1968-70 I suspect

IMG_1014.thumb.JPG.d566d640ff28b3c57c33a3cc19a168e4.JPG

Nice to see a toy of this age still with its stickers and painted stripes.  Sadly missing a wheel, it does however take a pair of HP7 cells (showing my age) to drive a motor and contrate gear - which was the point of the exercise as that part is all-intact.  So, easy to wire it up for a new slot track life.  Or just all it needs is a guide pin for the track, pop two cells in and it could be a jam car to dodge around.

IMG_1013.thumb.JPG.f2c1d1105582aa01f40b7af484c05066.JPG

Either way, the squirty can 3-in-1 helped free-up the seized motor and after a tickle from the soldering stick, it lives on.  It's approx 1:28 scale.

No, I don't know what this attraction to old gawky plastic HK chod is about either.  But there does seems to be some value in them once fixed-up and got back up and running...   (I keep telling myself the wife this)

So yes - tat was present this morning, though only a very small amount of new stuff.

The Lesneys and such are only going one way - diminishing.

1155170171_IMG_20210730_0810492.thumb.jpg.f1e29bedef4133e8e1cb5c580c32e6fc.jpg

Although there had been an influx of assorted plastic rubbish too:

790348637_IMG_20210730_0810352.thumb.jpg.1c7bcd3071639810c20b7c204fe6d2b2.jpg

Mostly Western-type figures and horses, it turned out: I had a brief rummage in case any diecast-related figures might have been hiding, but nothing of any great interest lurked therein - unless you're mad into Disney ephemera, as there seemed to be some old-looking plastic 101 Dalmatians figurines.

£10 Corgis etc remaining mostly static today.

1972429055_IMG_20210730_0810412.thumb.jpg.8847eafe9d1fc0d4bb7d04a15641fa8b.jpg

I say mostly, as the £10 tray was at the back of the stall, while a separate, unpriced tray was at the front:

1645503233_IMG_20210730_0810252.thumb.jpg.8e778cd1b02d334dc9165eecf3ee9831.jpg

No price shown on these, but it contained some of the new-arrival taxis and stuff from last week, which he wanted a fiver for.

Hmm.

Also another tray containing assorted bits and bobs:

2009556110_IMG_20210730_0810302.thumb.jpg.e71efa70cbd43f4b2c1cac8f50c3b0e5.jpg

As I was taking pics, Blokey started moving stuff from this tray into the unpriced tray at the front.

I'm fairly sure this is the lion shelter from the Corgi Longleat gift set.

1373349124_IMG_20210730_0827472.thumb.jpg.0258dab97a890e2f080b2037a1a3c956.jpg

Small diecast garages were quite nice: this one had no maker, just 'Made in England' stamped on the base.

1323303780_IMG_20210730_0828002.thumb.jpg.61e5e16490852d4f43f3e98951034a56.jpg

The yellow garage with the red roof is a Lesney, but both swing doors were missing from it.

This Corgi 'Commuter' dragster was quite clean, though the stickers were a little bit mildewed.

1992490853_IMG_20210730_0814252.thumb.jpg.9ef50cc660b5b2be2b200c86a7948145.jpg

However, before I could take any further action, The Nemesis swiped this one.

He already had quite a few models stashed behind the stall; I could make out what appeared to be quite a clean but unfamiliar Corgi Mk 10 Jaguar amidst some of the early 60s Lesneys, so there does seem to be some newer stuff trickling down from somewhere.

It seems that The Nemesis  trades more generally in collectables; while I was browsing the tat, he was deep in some heated and protracted negotiations with a lad who runs a vinyl stall behind, as The Nemesis was apparently trying to sell him some sort of framed signed photograph of a rock star (I didn't see who), which wasn't going his way.

While he was otherwise engaged, I asked Market Blokey if all the unpriced stuff in the front tray was a fiver.

"Errr... yeah, I could do them for that - but for Gawd's sake, don't tell him that..."

With a covert nod to Nemesis behind, busy trying to negotiate the £30 offer from Andy Vinyl up towards the £120 he believed his photo merited, despite having no certificate of authenticity which, it seemed, was the sticking point.

So I came away with these.

759493276_IMG_20210730_1030222.thumb.jpg.1421be952a7c83e9c8733ac875f35598.jpg

The Corgi Ford H-Type wrecker was in the glass cabinet off to the side, where the (now gone) Spot On AEC flatbed was last week.

I had £30 in notes on my hip, plus some loose change - ultimately, he accepted £33 for the above, which I'd say works out at £5 each for the Corgi cars and Dinky fire appliances, and £8 for the wrecker.

@andrew e had previously asked for the Corgi Plymouth Sport Suburban if it could be achieved for £5, so that's yours if you fancy it, dude.

1899759076_IMG_20210730_1030252.thumb.jpg.618a0d8ffd156086bc2b43da17f15a30.jpg

It's a bit chipped, paint-wise, but is still orders of magnitude better than the one I paid the same price for in 1993 or so.

I haven't yet posted your box from earlier in the week, as I had a funny feeling something like this might happen...

The others are available to anyone who wants them:

912533459_IMG_20210730_1030292.thumb.jpg.1c9cd783779a79b3af3ae14ccaea80ca.jpg

Holmes Wrecker is reasonably intact - not as good as the one I paid £15 for last year, but way better than the one I bought and passed on for a fiver. Yours for the £8 paid.

**EDIT: NOW TAKEN!!!***

Confusingly, there were now two Golden Jacks Chevrolet Camaro SSs on the stall - both in approximately the same condition and both missing a wheel, but one was in the £10 tray while this one was procured for £5.

1511936660_IMG_20210730_1031082.thumb.jpg.f1f1df1d5026df19924b24860a099493.jpg

As discussed last week, a repro windscreen and a hood, and this could display nicely.

Little slidey headlight covers still present, too.

1661911981_IMG_20210730_1031452.thumb.jpg.f2da6aa998073ac4f7b9919b8aec461f.jpg

Yours for £5.

**EDIT: SOLD!!!***

Corgi Chrysler Imperial floppytop also needs a windscreen, and probably could do with its non-original racing numbers removed and all.

1818967883_IMG_20210730_1032022.thumb.jpg.462a0a94938d2fbd6e679e3f35f21c49.jpg

Don't think I'd much fancy driving one of these competitively...

The 'everything opens' features are nice, though.

682348794_IMG_20210730_1032292.thumb.jpg.60f0ba4463b6eae01f6205a11cd9890a.jpg

Bonnet pops open when you press down on the front axle, and originally these came with a plastic golf bag and clubs in the boot. Nice.

Also available at £5.

**EDIT: NOW TAKEN!!!***

The two '70s Dinky fire appliances were probably the best condition items on the stall; I'm surprised no-one previously snapped these up, even at £10. They're really very lovely.

1643036586_IMG_20210730_1030472.thumb.jpg.936a2f7f0953da879cb877159642b56d.jpg

UV discolouration to the Range Rover's blue interior suggests these have been on display on a shelf somewhere for many years.

There are a couple of chips to the paint on each, annoyingly, which appear to have been inflicted distressingly recently.

Also, there's the faint outline of ladder rungs in the dust on the roof of the Land Rover, suggesting it was complete until a few weeks ago... daaaah.

Available at £5 each.

**EDIT: ALSO NOW TAKEN!!!***

But that's not all.

After stashing the Corgi and Dinky in my bag and toddling off before The Nemesis could take notice, I took a speedy spin past the other stalls.

And it turned out that the Charity Stall still had the Tonka stuff from last week, two of which @bunglebus had expressed an interest in:

859340453_IMG_20210723_0809332.thumb.jpg.e348d4fe80ec809c05a61025c4258ba6.jpg

Now, the Hot Wheels Honda F1 car was gone this week, as was the Tonka fire engine. But everything else was there.

However, the catch was that Charity Blokey only wanted to sell them all as a job lot, to clear them off his stall.

So I broke out my emergency fiver and came away with a bagful of rusty rubbish.

1815930576_IMG_20210730_0838072.thumb.jpg.0c95ee5acebd576f3c29ab7047dd1263.jpg

I'm not sure if this represents a bargain or a liability...

1662872637_IMG_20210730_1033302.thumb.jpg.36cb0f99ac78b88e2b1d163cd645ff58.jpg

The pink buggy and Porsche-esque racer probably represent the best of the bunch, and @bunglebus has first dibs here:

1352041082_IMG_20210730_1033452.thumb.jpg.4fddbed4d09a86c7785d1ba7945a9964.jpg

Say £1 each on these, fella?

**EDIT: SALE AGREED!!!***

The rest are available for £3 the lot, or 50p each:

I'd thought this was a Tonka release, but it's marked Tootsietoy, and also '1968'.

817539763_IMG_20210730_1033332.thumb.jpg.ce081f75da37b45404e39240c57abd74.jpg

Tonka custom van has a bit of surface rust, but is otherwise ok - including the opening diecast tailgate.

795276344_IMG_20210730_1033362.thumb.jpg.119a6cb590100790f68110ee53257de0.jpg

**EDIT: NOW SPOKEN FOR!!!***

Corgi Sixties Collection Minor is in a bad way, paint-wise...

2029717028_IMG_20210730_1033392.thumb.jpg.1f295fb4f42874413f8d1a996baac935.jpg

Mmm, lumpy. But should repaint well, if anyone fancies it.

Big Tonka low-loader with bulldozer also up for grabs at 50p a throw.

89988908_IMG_20210730_1034122.thumb.jpg.52187df625d5c2e92197db33fab29f04.jpg

Looks like it's put in a lengthy stint down the quarry, anyway. Patina FTW.

Larger scale Tonka horse box appears to be missing some bits - any interest at 50p?

812741775_IMG_20210730_1034212.thumb.jpg.f3f5af428c5d3c6f828fcd22503d9baa.jpg

Other modernish Tonka might be good for kiddies, if not your good selves?

1066175767_IMG_20210730_1035062.thumb.jpg.ed4ac3c4e30d51a70a926b6d8eb20e81.jpg

I've no particular interest in any of this, so take it away!

Corgi Rice horse box in police colours has a busted towhitch, but the rear loading door's still there.

1167963575_IMG_20210730_1034372.thumb.jpg.7b8ed1fc0ccec82e2081325c0a7c1601.jpg

Unexpectedly detailed manufacturer logo, anyway.

1112620263_IMG_20210730_1034552.thumb.jpg.f9380cdcd1facbe2e44a1a0d13ec49e7.jpg

I don't have a police Land Rover, so... available at 50p too, or as part of the bigger job lot for £3.

So there we go... another week, another load of tat...

Presumably still in his lock-up somewhere - I expect we'll see it again sometime soon. I'm guessing there's better margins on the recent Lesney and Corgi stuff he's picked up, so once they sell though there may be a return to the tat box of yore.

Need to look at fabricating/adapting a screen as they all seem to be missing on these Lone Star Clouds.  Non-opaque plastic is probably a bit hard to achieve by @bunglebus's FB friend too

Oh yes please - I'll take the Tonka van too as it's cheap (as well as the other two I'd asked for). Not sure what to suggest about the other bits, if no-one else is keen I can take them and try to make a few pennies on eBay, but they might make my tat box overweight

No worries - will have a go with the scales later and see how much they'll all weigh alongside the rest of your items - might or might not come in under the magic 2kg limit, so that'll probably influence how we proceed here!

Yes, the Matchbox King Size popped over to greet the Dinky.  Some deft camera angle effort above to try and make them look similar size, but in reality the Dinky '68 Cougar is approx 1:41 while the Matchbox '67 Cougar is a not-so-much 'King Size' after all, at approx 1:47

I'd love to take this off your hands if the wheels & tyres are decent.

(I've got a grey one with a bit of sentimental value on a shelf in the garage that is mint apart from cracked tyres and then I'd also have enough Minor left over to do something daft with including some other random wheels)

Well! That's a nrew addition to the Ritmo/Strada toy selection... Looks like it's made by 'Fundiplastic' (I wonder if they ever made an Ogle Sotheby Special, or was that just 'an car' rendered for thr box art? Weird!

119699810_1525284271.jpg

Looks like there was ANOTHER big plastic Spanish Ritmo at the same time, by Plasticos de Albacete, which I'm pretty sure is taken from the 1:25 Polistil

Is the Ritmo the-most-modelled-but-weirdest car of all time?

Some plastic came home with me from the boot sale this morning. Don't think I've had any Norevs before, but curiosity triumphed in the end, the bloke wasn't asking too much for them. The 16 has a bit of warpage to the top of the o/s front wing but isn't too bad otherwise. Lovely swirly marbled  interiors too. How old are they?
