sierraman
Curiously although the first ones made in ‘82 were built in the UK, they never updated the base to reflect the late 80’s being made in Macau until the last ‘Marine Rescue’ was released in the 90’s when the base finally said ‘Made in China’ bunglebus, andrew e, AndyW201 and 1 other

cms206
Having not really bought anything of late, does anyone know any more about Lone Star? Bit old for me but it was cheap* and looked a bit of alright. Undecided about keeping it yet as I really need a clearout. bunglebus
The Matchbox Rancho I got the other day is the first 1:64 I've found, got a few of the small Corgis - as you say quite cheap feeling as with a lot of the 80s releases. I have both the larger versions, hard to chose a favourite as the Matchbox is pretty tatty and presumably missing the upper tailgate as it doesn't have one

bunglebus
I bought a Yatming Ford station wagon the other week, just so I could line it up with the Matchbox Mercury and Playart versions Also noticed a little oddity while sorting through the Matchbox cars - both these Binz ambulances are early Superfasts, but have the writing up opposite ways andrew e, Datsuncog and hennabm

RoadworkUK
That was fun. Every year our village does a "sale trail", and we participated for the first time today — in between downpours. I did have it in mind to downsize my model collection pending house move. Thing is, the stuff in my collection is either not worth selling, or I want to keep it. So I sold a Bburago 1:18 New Beetle and a 1:18 Maisto Jeep Concept for £18 the pair. Suited me, 'cos while they're worth a little more on eBay, the hassle of packaging etc. really doesn't appeal. Of course, if I had owt I wanted to sell (and was worth having) I'd stick it up on here pronto. We made another £18 or so flogging tat that was otherwise charity shop bound. What I found absolutely hilarious, though, was the army of treasure-seekers who descended at 09:30, just before the event actually opened. Had people asking if we had any perfume, costume jewellery etc. Actually, my wife did put a few bits of the latter out, all of which was genuinely worthless and priced accordingly, at 20p with the 'kids with magpie sensibilities' demograpgic in mind. And yet we had people gazing at it through jewellers' magnifying glasses, in search of that long lost Napoleonic silver bracelet or whatever that's going to make them rich. Well, if we had posessed such an item, we would be rich already and wouldn't bother with poxy garage sales. And records. My wife and I like a bit of vinyl, and we regularly rake the charity shops for anything that isn't utter shit. If it was utter shit, we wouldn't want it. Similarly, if we had any records that we didn't want, they'd be on display with tat, priced to reflect their unwanted status. I suppose what I saw today was a microcosm of what society has become. For example, I love old hi-fi equipment, and often look at eBay listings because, in the olden days, eBay was a medium for getting a bit of cash for stuff that you no longer needed. Got an old stereo you're no longer using? Stick it up on eBay and see if you can get a tenner for it. Now, though, any shit old Amstrad or Binatone stack system from 1983 is "Vintage" and therefore must be worth £300. I mean, it plays tapes —I mean, how retro is that?!11! So what end we get is a bizzare inversion, where all the right-minded folk just take their hifi equipment to the tip, but the morons who see muck as brass put all the total shit on eBay. Anyway. We'll probably spend our £18 on a takeaway. andrew e and Datsuncog

I didn't bother, partly because it was going to rain (and did) and partly because I guessed more people were watching some football thing than packing their cars last night. Instead I had a rummage in the loft, built some racking up there for cars and potential boot sale stuff, and bought another CD tower to make into a car display case - not realising it has tinted glass. Ah well it'll be fine when it's lit up. Shite Ron
AndyW201
Slim pickings at Morrisons, but a few recent releases were in, Alas, not the STH version... Nice tampos on the Bentley, sadly at the expense of any front or rear detail. Hadn't seen this Camaro in any of the previews. The wheels are a bit Pimp my Ride but it's nice to see a factory style colour scheme and livery on this casting. Quite a few repeats of these and other Hot Wheels on clipstrips all over the store but a notable absence of yellow Volvos. Someone's getting there before me or they are finding homes before they have a chance to reach the clipstrips... andrew e and bunglebus
Split_Pin
Those Golden Wheels are knock off castings. Some are Polistils and the originals were crude enough, so the clones are spectacularly shite. Others are Matchbox from the 70s and 80s. My granny used to bring me them, I have 1 set that has a Renault 5 missing and another complete set mint and boxed.

bunglebus
Postage depends a bit how many you buy. Crapi is £3.58 and £1.95 shipping. The Blue Shark is currently £5.73, quite a lot but not seen it anywhere else. There were other interesting ones but the prices are insane - £25 for the Mercedes.
