Shite in Miniature II

Nothing much found today, did get these from B&M at a fair few pence less than the online sellers are knocking them out for,

I'm a sucker for the R30 Skyline. Normally I'd only go for the Factory Fresh versions, but this one was suitably free enough of pictures of dragons and shopping lists plastered down the sides, so I grabbed it.

And I've wanted this Golf for a while, I like the shade of green it comes in.

Need to hunt down the all black '88 Honda CRX that comes in this collection as well, that looks quite nice. There's also a Ford Focus 2 door coupé and a pink Scion coupé (Toyota GT86 lookalike) to make up the series but I'm not as keen on those two. Luckily I'm not that much of a completionist...

There are stacks of these in my local Sainsbury's.

Actually I've got a complete set that I thought I'd try and sell on, but no-one has if you want all/any of them at cost?

Well despite being hot and busy, I didn't come back with much from the boot sale. Maybe I was distracted by the hay fever induced sneezing fit, maybe I'm getting fussy but there wasn't a lot I hadn't seen before, most of the interesting stuff was too expensive for me. If you wanted large plastic animals for your garden or old car magazines you'd have been in luck. Even saw a Scimitar owner's Manuel

If the same seller's there next time you swing past the car boot sale, I'd be very interested in one of the (dealer-branded Minichamps?) Five-Pound Fiestas!

A friend bought a red 3-dr 'sad face' brand-new in May 2000, trading in his Mk3 Fiesta Popular which I'd helped him upgrade using Ghia bits from the scrapyard.

The new one gave nothing but bother, and wasn't a patch on the old one...

Yet I'd still like to have a 1/43 version to commemorate his folly.

Many thanks!

I'm going to have a scout over the other B&M first, as they're usually better for Hot Wheels. If no dice I'll give you a shout. I like the CRX, but don't know if I'll go for the Scion or Focus to complete the set as they don't do a lot for me. If it had been the MK2 Focus RS casting...

I hoped someone would reply while I was there, hopefully I'll see them next week.

No worries if not - annoyingly I was up and about before 8 this morning, but didn't think to check in to the thread until now.

Snooze/lose scenario, even though I wasn't even snoozing!!

Cheers for posting the pics up; I still haven't seen hide nor hair of any car boot sales round this way yet.

I hope you bought that..!

Honestly it's a Mercedes. They said everyone looks at it but no-one buys it. Missing rear bumper, battery cover as well as the obvious bits

Well.

Wife had zero interest and wanted to get to garden centre to be fleeced on pots, so I was dropped off roadside and went into the now-run-by-Romanians BIG CAR BOOT, on foot.  They didn't like that...  I got accosted at the the gate by two annoyed yet mal-nourished people with teeth missing.  Not sure what has changed to car boot arrival etiquette, but what ever it is, I got it wrong and I wasn't welcome...

Anyhow, using a Jedi mind trick, I survived, and for the half-hour speed walk exercise in a rutted field, today's midday £7 achievement (including entrance fee) was this:

20210613_124520721_iOS.thumb.jpg.86d513d7e59bd891a46447f3b906d6ab.jpg

Another Buddy-L Plymouth Gran Fury to fiddle with the circuitry, perhaps lob in a motor and get going around a slot track like the last one @Burnside

Corgi ROCKETRON with tracks intact and working compass.  Something only ever saw in catalogues as a boy.  Box tick, because never had an Xploratron.

Lone-Star Ford Zodiac Estate was 50p.  Missing bonnet but not missing tailgate or doors and wheels not wobbly, good glass.

Matchbox SuperKings Jaguar XJ40 in Police livery, never had one of those so can keep the childhood XJ6 one company.

ERTL Chevy Fleetside 'Cooter's Garage' with track rod issues.  50p though.

Hurrah!  Finally ticked the Matchbox 'Laser Wheels' Mercury Police Car box.

Matchbox Kenworth Cab-Over in Pepsi-livery, to match up with one of the Pepsi-livery Chevy vans that are clogging the shelves and need to be sold-on.

50p Hot Wheels Red Line Maserati Mistral.  Yes, 50p.  Has its bonnet and doors and a couple of cracks in glazing but otherwise all there and has been attacked a bit by a silver paint pen.  No matter!  Never had one before and bidding goes daft on these.

Guisval Simca 1200.  Never seen one of those before...  Rear suspension has had a collapse.

Husky Studebaker Waggonnaire, lost its TV cameraman and has attacked glazing, but grabbed to make up the weight with seller while hoping he didn't realise the Mistral was in the same hand.

Some of you must have a lot of storage space for all this miniature Tat!

Thankfully yes, big loft as well as display cabinets.

Unfortunately the loft is about the same temperature as death valley today, just been up there sorting out doubles and re-uniting these

That's a decent haul, much better than mine today! We have got a lazybones boot sale starting at 10 so I could go to that too, but having done a few miles around Boreham sneezing my head off I didn't feel like it

The body shell with the two Keystonezu Kopszu hanging out of it is perfect to fit over a Tamiya or whatever RC chassis

if it is there next week....

There were two proper R/C shells ( the petrol powered type I guess) with the holes for locating pins in the roof. Can't remember what they were though!

An arrival today that may be vaguely familiar to some...

1856378468_IMG_20210613_1229542.thumb.jpg.dcab64990cf5efb700a6a2600ce2ddd6.jpg

Yup, it's that pricey (but fairly scarce) Corgi Tour De France Gift Set that I'd clocked on eBay last month.

Listed in the range catalogues between 1981 and 1984, a healthy 57,000 units of this set were shifted - but they were kinda fragile.

126923048_IMG_20210613_1230262.thumb.jpg.6a7b6c9dd6245dc9042c705b5d217886.jpg

Complete and in decent enough nick, this set could probably benefit from a gentle clean.

1381655917_IMG_20210613_1230502.thumb.jpg.6694f02fabfa08e7b2aa56c0927ad3cb.jpg

This was the first iteration of Corgi's Peugeot 505 - the standard saloon version without the open sunroof would follow a month later, in March 1981.

2016721018_IMG_20210613_1232292.thumb.jpg.137c1d08f6fc6594115365a423131954.jpg

Bikes consist of plastic frames with diecast wheels punched at the hubs to hold them in place - and they do unclip from the boot-mounted rack, but in a way which is perhaps incompatible with rough play.

2143837285_IMG_20210613_1230562.thumb.jpg.5dc735e6e8f08810dccf068d0399a461.jpg

I hadn't noticed before that the passenger seat has been swapped for a platform, for the giant team manager to stand on.

178117221_IMG_20210613_1233132.thumb.jpg.e42dc741d18d38c029baa3e1313d7a14.jpg

Riders are in pretty good fettle, all things considered.

1267073678_IMG_20210613_1230472.thumb.jpg.3b472c1f8b53390a1a90363065402e9d.jpg

Some of the sets shown in the catalogues have bikes with red frames, while others like this one are yellow.

Apparently this set was modelled on the real-life Team Raleigh of 1980, with Corgi design chief Marcel Van Cleemput and assistants travelling over to France to photograph Team Raleigh and their Peugeot support vehicle for several stages of that year's Tour.

It cost rather more than I'd have liked to pay,  but I've not seen another one come up for sale - and when pressure was applied to start coming up with birthday gift ideas, for some reason this sprang to mind...

Still, I'm rather pleased to have it in the collection.
