I didn't bother with the boot sale today despite fine weather, partly as I expected attendance to be down due to yesterday's downpours, partly cos we're both stressed out and knackered this week. Charity shop basket hasn't had any Treasure lately but I did retrieve this no-name Corgi Transit. Back up to 50p, the robbing bastards

However in your absence I was passing Boreham today and popped (for the first time in years) a very depleted bootsale. Chatted to the hot wheels guy, nice fella. Resisted to a point, but did  buy some NASCAR though at a £1 a pop, and I binned (the admittedly battered) boxes too 😳 😂

Went big car boot.  It was packed.  Zero social distancing efforts from our east european and traveller friends, who were in abundance and seem to have made it their own.  Nothing worth buying either.

Went to Big Clock Tower Tesco.   This was the state of it.  Useless.

Sometimes I get a notification that I've won something on eBay, and wonder why on earth I wanted it

20210510_131955.jpg.0b3bc66490915e1d6ec2a469c57b929d.jpg

There are some fairly interesting bits, like a Dinky ambulance

Doors are missing but it comes with a spare body

There are also two Matchbox MG 1100s, one with driver, one without. Both have bases broken in different places

Oops.  I had a red Superfast Mustang, but repainted it a while ago...

It is now silver, to be given the lower flank black stripe, like this:

22421016-1965-ford-mustang-std.jpg.267b0faed5db160caa59c08922663fdc.jpg

Colour is Silver Frost Metallic in the brochures and is sought-after today.  Probably* due to the lacquer falling off when quite young, if like Dagenham Fords.

Went to big Cancer Research.  It's the size of a supermarket, that premises.

A Matchbox has been found for sale!   The only Matchbox single for sale in the town right now -  due to the Tesco of uselessness...

So had to have it 😎

Not quite sure what it is off though

I assume its a generic oddball, but will consult the encyclopedias of Matchboxing, once the dust has settled.

Ok.  It's from 2004.  Correct model name is '4x4 BUGGY'.

https://matchbox.fandom.com/wiki/4X4_Buggy

Might be a bit on the rarer side this one?  As it seems it was mis-named 'SAND SPEEDER' on the box for this colour release, yet 'Sand Speeder' as a name was used before and after and is a very different model.

Untitled.jpg.41680801cb1569ddd75d530386c705b0.jpg

Base definitely has it as '4X4 BUGGY' on it.

The excitement is all too much.

Due to personal happenings, I hadn't got round to posting this up until now.

But a few months ago having been inspired by videos on YouTube. I made a attempt at making my own 1:87 scrap yard diorama. Reason I went this scale, was one it takes up minimum space. Two I really like scale items available in 1:87.

This is my 1st attempt, so I'll probably have another go at making a improved version down the line.

Material's were scrap cardboard, some free download / printable brick paper in HO scale. Various 1:87 vehicles, which were already damaged / missing parts that I've acquired over the years. An glue / blu tak.

Crane was courtesy of a purchase from egg a few yrs ago and the porta cabin was 2nd hand via eBay.

Too clean looking, and no ravenous dog🤣

Looks the biz otherwise.

Excellent work!  But I agree, needs a guard dog, and a sea of mud, littered with random parts.

Looks great that @Burnside. I spy a Cavalier and a Calibra there.

I went through a phase of buying lots of repainted/modified 1970s and early 1980s 1:87s back in the mid 1990s. I think they were all created by ine person but found them in different stalls over the years.

I think I've got enough, together with an old semi detached house to make a hoarders shite house/car combo!

Yes,that casting of the Matchbox  Mustang is difficult to find,I was lucky enough to find the white version, but never seen a red one in the wild.

Just having a nose around online, it seems there are both red and orange versions, and red/white interiors;

That's on top of the "usual" white with regular wheels, then there's this;

Hi mate, the Escort and the Rolls have already gone to bunglebus of this parish but I'm happy to hang onto the other two for you until then. Just drop me a PM when you're ready and we'll sort out the details.

Courtesy of @64A60, I've also got my grubby hands on this plastic Go Car, produced under the Funmate brand by Matsushiro Toy Company, Tokyo, during 1971-72 and primarily for the Canadian and US market.

IMG_0335.thumb.JPG.2f037eb778aeff96a61e68b6ec1ad42d.JPG

It's a model of a 1971 Ford Torino GT SportsRoof, a 'fastback' style having different rear sheet metal to the Hardtop Coupe and only available from GT spec.  It measures to 1:40 scale.

IMG_0337.thumb.JPG.91eee04ac18163ad07b9b9d8ded2eb85.JPG

These Japan-made models are a rare find in the UK, but quite common in the USA as they were attached to the side of detergent boxes as part of a Procter & Gamble campaign.

IMG_0336.thumb.JPG.1384b68b06a04787a37470be0f83c235.JPG

Go Cars had a spring-loaded handle with a three-inch-long narrow metal rod that slipped into a hole in the back of the car.  Depressing a lever shot the car across the floor.  However, they found that kids would get jabbed in the eye if the handle wasn't not held firmly enough.  You can just about read the hastily-added disclaimer sticker added to the base regarding the safety issue.

IMG_0338.thumb.JPG.8081346ba804ab440df070ad51d137b9.JPG

I have a disclaimer of my own.  It might not be best to do a Google search on 'Funmate' in the first place.
