OK, here are some interesting* things the postie man has brought for me today

First up, a version of the K-52 Datsun 240Z that I didn't have. Hopefully this will respond to gentle cleaning

20210414_16394720210414_163958

A couple more blackwalls for my collection, this is the oddly skinny version of the 59 Caddy

20210414_16383520210414_163749

Anyone care to ID this?

20210414_16362020210414_16362920210414_163634

@flat4alfais to blame for me tracking down the early Majorette Blazer...

20210414_163551

...with doggo

20210414_163602

And a Ritmo/Strada

20210414_163511

I already had a cartoonised Polistil Honda Z coupé...

20210414_163440

...but this one came with a Fiat 127 for company

20210414_16340820210414_163415

This is the jewel in the crown though. Polistil ovloV 164

20210414_16324020210414_16325020210414_16325720210414_16324520210414_16331820210414_163326

What a beauty!

That "Majorette Blazer" is actually a Majorette Jeep Cherokee ;) [/pedant mode]

I've been getting the odd Hot Wheels when I see something that catch's my eyes, been doing alot of more obscure & cult cars over the years! Normally when stateside I grab one or two as the stores there have a lot more than the local ones here, also only a dollar at the Fred Meyers where I go to in Oregon.

What I have started doing is getting one car a month from the local Tesco, as seen some good stuff in! So since February I've gotten these...

It wasn't until I got the Camaro I realized it's just been Chevys so far! What got me was seeing the '96 Impala SS, which was a must buy! :D

Fancy a trade for the Savoy and Porsche MrDC?

I think that could be arranged!

I'll set those two aside for you; hopefully as things start to reopen I'll get a chance to make a few more finds to make postage worth your while.

Current state of play: draft papers placed before the Northern Ireland Assembly this morning, recommending that non-essential retail premises can reopen on Friday 30 April. Formal decision to be voted on later.

Covid-19: 'Significant day' as NI reopening dates expected - BBC News

Fingers crossed, we could be seeing some Market Tat again in just over a fortnight...

If you take me over to Oregon with you next time, I'll carry all the suitcases !

Weather's a bit iffy, got a few minor jobs done then gave up and scanned the 1979 Corgi catalogue instead

Corgi 1979 001Corgi 1979 002Corgi 1979 003Corgi 1979 004Corgi 1979 005Corgi 1979 006Corgi 1979 007Corgi 1979 008Corgi 1979 009Corgi 1979 010Corgi 1979 011Corgi 1979 012Corgi 1979 013Corgi 1979 014Corgi 1979 015Corgi 1979 016Corgi 1979 017Corgi 1979 018Corgi 1979 019Corgi 1979 020Corgi 1979 021Corgi 1979 022Corgi 1979 023Corgi 1979 024Corgi 1979 025Corgi 1979 026Corgi 1979 027

So, a few interesting things in here; anyone seen a Captain America "Jetmobile" (the Swedish Jet Dragster), or Captain Marvel Porsche (the Can Am Porsche 917-10)?

How about a "Minder" Capri with box arches (looking like a mock-up in the picture)?

The Polizei 924 with black, rather than green door I wasn't aware of but seems to exist

The Buick regal is depicted as both a police car with a single bar of roof lights on P13 as well as the Gotham police version with a roof bristling with lights and paraphernalia on P4

The most interesting pair are the obviously mocked up green Caprice on P16 which I don't think was released in that colour, and the again mocked-up Senator opposite which was at least made but is uncommon. Third mock up on those pages is the white SD1

Another mock-up is the gold Juniors SD1 on P39

Another one I'd like to find, hopefully will be available in sensible numbers. Got an original to line it up with?

Just so happens that Smoll Eddy had one stashed away.

Looks quite a good interpretation of the original one,was never a favourite of mine, but I do like the new version.

Cheers for the scan @bunglebus, from the year I was born.

A lot of exciting new releases then, not least the Senator. Still a few relics from earlier in the decade but on the whole the Corgi 1/36 and Juniors range was shaping up nicely. The Volvo 245 is probably my favourite now and back then.

By the 'Minder' Capri, surely you mean 'Professionals'? Strange that for the mock up, they portrayed the X-Pack MK2 3.0S, SOO 636R, which featured in series 1,

By the time the model went on sale of course, it had turned into a rendition of Bodie's MK3 3.0S, UOO 303T (really VHK 495S, an ex-press fleet car), which was the one on screen at that time.

Although I think that X-Pack MK2 would have made a bloody great model...

Yes, of course - it put me in mind of the "Minder" X-pack MK2 Escort seen in the opening credits, guess that's what I was thinking about when I wrote it

Shame no one did a model of that Escort at the time! Although the BBurago Zakspeed MK2 would make a fair replica...

You could always provide additional supporting rationale by splicing in any of your weekly Tat Friday Market roundups!

That picture in the catalogue is the only image I can find of a wide arch MK2 Corgi Capri, the mock-up was probably disposed of. That would be quite a find

You never know. A lot of these mock ups fell into sandwich boxes and bags over the years. Corgi had planned (for some bizarre reason) to bring out a Talbot Horizon, a mock up was made by Basset Lowke who Corgi outsourced to make prototypes, it came up for auction a while back. It’s very possible it’s sat in a filing cabinet or some old retired engineers loft.

The bizarre reason is because it was voted European Car of the Year in 1979.  Which was a bizarre reason in itself...

The wooden mock-up is a bit off  though:

I can only think there must have been no other contestants that year.
