I went on and dusted off the dormant account. Ordered both the Morris Oxford Coupe and the Ford Capri together, for £6.39 after tax and coupon. That's cheaper than the petrol chasing about finding them. Plus I won't be tempted to put anything else in the basket while in the store It's all your fault. flat4alfa
With thanks to @Amishtat there are now three Dinky Volvo 265 to caress. These are the only colours I was after: the Made In England blue metallic and Plod livery cars, together with the Made in Italy garish orange special. Or should that read vistoso arancione speciale. Either way, I can sleep better now. Jag är väldigt glad. bunglebus, Datsuncog, andrew e and 2 others

eddyramrod
I have to confess, I'd like a civvy 265. Don't care about colour; it doesn't even have to have much paint left because I want it to paint up for my TV/film fleet.

flat4alfa
This arrived the other day. It's a Roxy Toy, made in Hong Kong in plastic from the late-1970s, so was surprised to get it for a fiver. They clearly tried to model the Chaparral 2E from 1966. Only ever seen Chaparral 2E in 1:24 scale kit form (going for collector money) or as a slot car in 1:32 (at £130 new). As it's at 5" long, it's bang-on size for what I wanted and will probably never see another. Ok, this Roxy is just a toy and didn't attempt to model the tall rear wing, but still, looks ok enough for me to attempt a scratch-built wing just for the hell of it, motorise it and tick the box. The friction motor base is screwed home so a slot chassis can go there instead. I like the flames, although not authentic, they are staying as it's in pretty good condition considering the age. Even better than that, the driver joins the RED HELMET club. In case you didn't know about the 2E and it's driver-controlled rear wing, see these links Goodwood.com gmauthority.com and drivetribe.com Quote The Chaparral 2E is one of those cars that definitely falls under "game-changer". Can you imagine movable aero devices in the 1960s? We were barely on downforce, never mind DRS. Yet here we are with this brutal Can Am monster, with a wing the driver can manually stall. Got a thing about Jim Hall's Chaparrals. Might post up the 2D too if anyone's interested. No apologies for the enthusiasm! Because, it is Tat Wednesday. eddyramrod, andrew e, AndyW201 and 5 others
Datsuncog
Went back down to Tesco last night as, unbelievably, we were out of spray cleaner. And I'm meant to be organised. Of course, I wanted to maximize the benefits of such a trip... Ahem. Well, it happens. Not a lot in the Hot Wheels basket, though, and someone had pillaged through the Matchbox bin and all - every single Mk1 Golf was gone (though I wasn't particularly looking for one - I've already two of the civvie version and have no real need of the Politzei variant). Real Wheels are £7, not £9 as I inaccurately stated upthread. Still, if your kiddiewink comes running over with a Hot Wheels toy, I imagine many long-suffering parents may just chuck it in the trolley, thinking it's only a pound or so... Speaking of pricing, I take it that the sole difference between the mainline LEVC TX taxi and the 'UK Collection' version is the long card? Mmm. Alright. Some quite nice 5-packs going, mind: I hadn't realised that this release of the Golf Country had a little in-joke nod to the Lesney-era Rompin' Rabbit: I'm impressed that a version of the old MB27 Jeep Cherokee casting is still going: First seen in 1986, that's a whopping 35 years it's clocked up now. The Coffee Cruisers II set even manages to contain five decent models. No golf buggies or generic construction vehicles in sight. I think that's what stops me buying these sets; two or three models I'd quite like, but two or three of no real interest. The 'Segundo Beach Sealife Rescue' Impala cruiser is surely one to enthral, but I've not much desire for the rest. Plus, I'd have to store them... Meh. I did end up grabbing some individual packs though, for reasons that aren't 100% clear. That's two Savoys now, and no real game-plan for any of them. Sometimes, diecast collecting and existential ennui get a bit too close for comfort. Still, I did notice that the stock images Tesco use for their point-of-sale signage seem to involve Oxford Diecast and Corgi Trackside models, much to my surprise. Oh well. I got the kitchen spray, plus a packet of yellow-sticker muffins, so I suppose we'll call that a win... 17-Coffees, bunglebus, RoadworkUK and 1 other

Datsuncog
Not at £7 each, no!! I still pick up the odd Matchbox mainline here and there by telling myself they're loose-change money; but at that sort of price I could be going daft on eBay with boxed '80s Corgis... That said, if you have a particular interest in that specific pair, I could always 'run out of cat food'...

Datsuncog
Good stuff; I've no bother getting stuff on behalf other people, but I just generally baulk at buying (what I perceive to be) expensive stuff for myself! Will keep an eye out for the Barracuda and Chevy pickup, then... any others from the Power Trip range you're looking out for? There was a stray GMC Syclone in the dump bin... bunglebus
OK, here are some interesting* things the postie man has brought for me today First up, a version of the K-52 Datsun 240Z that I didn't have. Hopefully this will respond to gentle cleaning A couple more blackwalls for my collection, this is the oddly skinny version of the 59 Caddy Anyone care to ID this? @flat4alfais to blame for me tracking down the early Majorette Blazer Jeep Cherokee... ...with doggo And a Ritmo/Strada I already had a cartoonised Polistil Honda Z coupé... ...but this one came with a Fiat 127 for company This is the jewel in the crown though.
