What do you get if you cross this

With this?

This:

Rather pleased with this one, glass is pretty scratched but I'm sure another donor will appear eventually. The excellent Black Square decals from the original Racing Mini really finish it off

Phenomenal work! That looks better than either of the originals. Very, very nice. Molotow chrome pen for the lights?

Well blow me down, looks like we may have ourselves a (very small) Tat Wednesday...

What's inside, I hear you gasp in anticipation?

Well, it's some of the bits 'n' pieces I'd asked the fella with the shop in Whitehead to set aside for me waaaay back before Christmas, but I didn't get a chance to collect before Lockdown III kicked in (which, like Smokey And The Bandit III, is quite tedious, involves very little Burt Reynolds, and quickly outstays its welcome).

Sadly, not everything requested was still available (and I'm particularly regretful about a boxed early-80s Corgi Trucks Mercedes Tanker), but after a contactless handover involving collection from a porch, here's what was lurking within...

Oooh.

The excitement is killing me.

It's been waaaay too long.

Bang! Tat ahoy!

For @bunglebus, there's a very clean Husky VW T1 luggage elevator truck with original (if slightly perished) rubber band.

The pair of Dublo Morris vans are certainly well-patina'd, though online prices remain surprisingly strong even for examples in this condition.

There's also a boxless but otherwise excellent Range Rover P38 from the Bond partwork series, for @Lord Sterling

1462986904_IMG_20210315_2114242.thumb.jpg.01bd4937bb8ce2f07a143dacf02328e8.jpg

Some gun-totin' villains seem to be included here, too.

Sadly, the Ladybird car books were indeed only postcards showing the cover.

Happy to set this one aside for you, dude!

So, the rest of the box contents are for... me.

1632134067_IMG_20210315_2114512.thumb.jpg.3330bf70aa7d43f8177fc6a4669acc3a.jpg

The Lesney King Size S&D refuse truck is another of those from the cracking late-1960s range. It's not in brilliant nick, paint-wise, but the tipping mechanism is functioning, if a little worn. Aside from a tyre that's gone AWOL, it's complete. Would I have paid a fiver for this at the market, simply as one I don't yet have? Y'know, I might have done. So it's a keeper for now - but I'll be looking out for a cleaner one.

The Lesney Superfast Cement Truck and Hendrickson tractor unit were snaffled because they were only £1 each, and seemed in ok nick.

The Cement Truck, in particular, seems to always be missing its drum so I think that's why I added this to the list. It's had a fair bit of use, but is complete and decent enough. The fragile horns on the Hendrickson are undamaged too.

I'm happy to hold onto both of these, but if anyone fancies them, give me a rattle!

The Corgi Classics Scammell Highwayman Tanker in Crow Carriers trim is one I kinda wanted back in my mid-90s model shop days, but the big articulated trucks were pricey enough (more than a day's wages) so the only one I ever had was the Siddle C. Cook Highwayman flatbed - for which I swapped a load of mint boxed 1980s Corgis (including an MG Maestro). I then smeared superglue all over the Scammell trying to attach the door mirrors, and put it away for 20 years in my rage. Hello, regret.

I may have simmered down a little since then, so this is nice to see. Dunno if it's a long-term keeper, but it was about half its new price so I think I did alright...

Am I heading in a commercial-oriented direction here? Sure looks like it...

Happy Wednesday, all!

Excellent thank you - those Morrises are rather excellent too, if you ever decide to part with them...

Here we go again, more tatty old toot has arrived. As usual, all interesting stuff buried under rubbish in a lot

First up is the Glo Worm dragster, it looked pretty tatty in the pics, and has got a couple of minor problems with the body support, but would probably clean up well so I'm reluctant to customise it, as was my intention

20210317_16482120210317_164859

Found a type 3 with all the spotlights intact!

20210317_164501

There is a little mystery here though - has someone wedged a driver in before it got crushed, like the mafia disposing of a body, or is this an unusual interior variation?

20210317_164531

Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I rather like this Road Champs 928 monster

20210317_164320

This one is probably the best score, and probably worth what I paid for the whole lot

20210317_16413120210317_16423720210317_164155

Has a couple of bits of bumper damage, but bar that, one jewel headlight and a tyre, is complete, has the crazy sliding sunroof cover

20210317_164220

Mebetoys Maserati Mistral is probably going to be harder to find parts for - glass is cracked and again missing tyres. The headlight is no problem

20210317_16401120210317_16402220210317_164055

This I need help to identify. Tinplate, Chinese. Might be quite old, might be a cheap knock-off

20210317_16392520210317_16393220210317_163951

I thought Corgi Cubs were just those strangely scaled, generic vans and the like. Was quite surprised that these two are from the same range

20210317_16370320210317_163735

Adams Drag-Star was in a lot, they make good engine donors but I might spare it and do a repaint instead, as it's not bad bar some chips

20210317_163604

Bazooka was with it, definitely bought for its complete set of exhaust pipes

20210317_163505

Finally, yes I have an orange Dinky Volvo but I fancied restoring one, and my other is missing a headlight. Typically this one has a tailgate that refuses to open

One other package arrived. These are/were available on Modelmatic but I found them cheaper on eBay. Not really interested in the full set as the yellow T5 is coming out as a mainline, and the premium looks a bit awkward on its too-large wheels. Had to have these two though

The Amazon is a right bugger to photograph in the blister, but it really is a beauty. Not my pics:

I had one exactly like that. Not much help though as I was never able to find out who made it. Don't know what happened to it either but I suspect it found a good home in my Shitefest 16 toy clearout.

That Hot Wheels Amazon looks great. Unslam it and fit some more suitable wheels and you'll have a decent model.

Matchbox SuperKings Ford 'H' Series aka TRANSCONTINENTAL

I remember these from the cover on this catalogue I had when a boy

medium.jpg.e65515da2e3d637c39f6f6e5a60dc59f.jpg.9cfac2d8ba33d0167e437dbad72e6c64.jpg

I also remember it being a model I didn't recognise from UK roads

20210317_174823165_iOS.thumb.jpg.b5a5d8ff34619a841433dc2876865ff1.jpg

It turns out it failed to sell well in Britain due to weight laws of the time

20210317_174841386_iOS.thumb.jpg.b2c53af70e263775250b3e2bcda93dad.jpg

Not sure what those stickers are about, but it's got its roof horns and the droppable load sides are present

20210317_174904178_iOS.thumb.jpg.ad3db47fe763d55a6856a6e9f0fe5085.jpg

Not only that, the trailer can hop on for a lift!

Box ticked after offer of three quid was accepted

Not sure what to do with it now - does anyone have the load covers?

Found a photo of the load covers - I'd assumed they were solid plastic!  No wonder they got lost

Also just found out about an opening thing!

I find it odd they went to all the bother giving us a detailed engine bay, but forgot to give it a realistic wheel style

Damn.  No screens.   Something else to worry about, apart from the variable Jackson Pollock paint effect

I think I have answered my own question about the 1600TL with driver - this was in the same box, and I thought at the time it was a shame the driver had gone walkies...

Windscreen variant is quite rare.

Yep the version with the windscreen is the earlier, harder to find version, later replaced with that ^ flyscreen cast in. I do have both already, and yes that is a different bloke in the buggy as he's holding a steering wheel. Further investigation required!

Were #30 Beach Buggy and #47 Beach Hopper the only two to receive the paint effect?

I believe so. Must be an interesting job to try and restore one, normally if my paint comes out like that I strip it off and start again.

I'm a big fan of all the variants, Sand Hopper, Beach Buggy and Baja Buggy, and the altered Sand Hopper from the Disney series with Donald Duck at the helm.

Rarest is the Baja Buggy with the two seat interior from Beach Buggy
