Arf, that's the only contemporary Ritmo I happen to still have... no idea where it came from, probably a jumble sale in the mid 1980s.

I can confirm the proportions are absolutely heinous, but it's so wonky I kinda love it.

1533519602_IMG_20210212_2237132.thumb.jpg.9bf8a436c0ba3a1d36c79f754ebf34db.jpg

Front end is maybe a tad long...

And it's bizarrely wide.

While the nose is... well.

Like whoever modelled it had to do so from a description down the phone.

I didn't even know this one was by Polistil, as there's no maker's name on the base. Hong Kong manufacture too, not Italy. Unless the tooling ended up in the far east, eventually?

Interesting that they chose to model the rare rwd version... 🤔

Appreciating all the Ritmo love on here today! (I've the blue IXO version in 1/43, but it's not nearly so amusing.)

Also, while searching in my toybox for the shonky Fiat...

OMG red Corgi Juniors Refuse Truck.

A colour variant that's not mentioned in the books, so obviously worth eleventy squillion Bitcoin any day of the week.

I seem to recall having this from new, from one of those Bumper Gift Sets around 1985 or so - which is interesting, as supposedly only the 1970s issues came with clear glazing, although this one lacks an interior.

Sounds like a bitsa from those tumultuous days when the newly formed Corgi Toys Ltd was trying to get anything even vaguely sellable out the door.

I thought I'd flogged this as part of a smol Corgi job lot a few years back, so it was a nice surprise to turn up.

Of course, the Ritmo was right at the bottom of the box...

Ah well. Not the worst kind of Friday night...

Just thought I'd tot up the ones I know, because it's always struck me as a weird choice for a casting....

In small scale, you could have the well-known Majorette 5-door

majorette.thumb.jpg.2ad4b00416551fa004ccd770b3f168aa.jpg

Or a sporty 3-door from Hot Wheels, weirdly

The worst of the lot was this Polistil version which seems to be farily rare

If you fancied a small-scale SEAT version you could have a Guisval

Guisval.thumb.png.2650571490c8450b1f9d338e4579190e.png

... or a slightly wobbly Guiloy

Guiloy.thumb.png.b836b7395199ce2c311ede05bfc33b9b.png

Or a Mira!

Mira.thumb.png.d8bbf9801a65cb570809584b8319f4b9.png

When searching for images of the above, I discovered another Spanish Ritmo in the form of this Dicoy, a short-lived brand with only a handful of cars in their line-up

Dicoy.jpg.1726308d5958c87b740097046ddcf818.jpg

Moving up in scale to 1:43-ish but sticking in Spain, there was a decent Pilen (which is possiby a recycled casting from Italy, as many of their models were)

Pilen.thumb.png.5d10304f2d8a7c299c2460c4609effc3.png

There was a nice French Dinky 3-door effort

Dinky.thumb.jpg.a7342bfd1e4cdad7a64b91fff7b0a3f9.jpg

Solido had a go at a 3-door too. Not the best, not the worst. A long-lived casting which is possibly still available. Despite similar wheels, I don't think this is quite the same as the Dinky casting.

Solido.jpg.13aca40c9865141213886bedf6d09f65.jpg

A similar Burago, with wide arches a la Abarth usually bestickered as a rally car

burago1.thumb.png.a41c1ca537918064cda744f4da079b7b.png

and the best of the bunch, the Mattell-era Mebetoys 5-door which was also sold as a Hot Wheels. I had one of these but I think it's now with Brammy

Mebetoys-2.thumb.jpg.dd1d233e8a3dc063e98b40221ccd692f.jpg

Mebetoys also did an astonishing 1:25 version with faithfully modelled wheels

mebetoys.thumb.jpg.e18d381726fd1b37dad9d20a14a7e82e.jpg

And Polistil built a near-identical 1:25 car, too

polistil1.jpg.de3e9c6e42f4f6f132d84d4db206593b.jpg

Polistil were, I think, the only company to make a facelift Ritmo/Strada, which is an excellent model

polistil.thumb.JPG.e5957298f1f8dc26f00249b3658c01f5.JPG

And finally, a large-scale Burago Abarth

burago.thumb.jpg.e9acb73a40f3dbe5b8cb3d9bc8542463.jpg

so, you takes ya choice.... Anyone know of any others?

If anyone can find me a Polistil or Mebetoys 1:25 car in a funky colour I'd love it!

SWOON. I have the Bburago 1/43 version, a Majorette and a knock-off Polistil one from the 1980s.

I'd love any of the bigger scale ones or indeed any of the Spanish  ones too.

On a related note I also have a 1/43 Bburago Regata which I got from @eddyramrod and a very lovely 1/24 Bburago version which I got from @mk2_craig

I came across a 1/24 or 1/25 Polistil Regata once, in a small shop in Denmark. Didn’t buy it, but I remember the boot lid opened, unlike the Bburago version I already owned by then.

Also... just because a car has been modelled at all, doesn't mean it's easily accessible, especially to those of us on restricted means.  Americans can get a diecast Dodge Diplomat, which is identical to the Plymouth Gran Fury I had, but can I get one over here?1186845700_ChryslerandPlymouth.jpg.e2fc240b8db14b9f086a7eee3a4054c2.jpgDippy124.thumb.jpg.8da48596215ea30eee293490abafb379.jpg

This is the 1/24 version, the biggest available (so far).  It's also in 1/43 and I'm beginning to see it in 1/64 too, but never, ever, at a price I can justify.  I wouldn't care what livery; the "blank" black-and-white above would be ideal but I'd take anything, preferably a few.

I'm still not aware of anyone having modelled a Viva HC, despite their ten-year model run. Lone Star produced a Superfast-sized Firenza at the time (which, as is oft lamented here, go for megabucks), and Oxford Diecast more recently put out a nice 1/43 Firenza casting, but the standard saloon or estate? Nada.

P1040499.thumb.JPG.9feae8afebe3596f3042702b91f6dfa1.JPG

A two-door in Honey Starmist with a black vinyl roof would be ideal, but I'd take anything...

Not aware of the B10 series Datsun Sunny ever making it into miniature format either - I'd love a coupe like the two I owned, but would happily settle for a saloon/estate. Looks like I'll be waiting a wee while longer...

Nearest you'd get is the Thoroughbred Models Magnum.  Rejig the front and repaint

Kodeblake Nissan Sentra Sedan 1/43

Sister car isn't it, US market.  Known in Japan as Tsuru.  But still a B11 Sunny.  Assuming you meant B11 not B10.

HC Viva?  You mean my solution...

New toys! First up, harder to find colour of the Matchbox Challenger

20210213_155718.thumb.jpg.9ce023bfaeb3718fd0cf0d7a7fec8a3e.jpgI have a couple of these Corgi/Kellogg's/Fina cars, but these were stupid cheap and the Beetles are a different colour to my existing ones, which have a silver base. Minor fans will know this colour came on the Morris Minor 1,000,000, one of which I remember lived near my senior school

Our spot of Government Endorsed Exercise today took us to a (quite) local nature reserve. I had a the presence of mind to grab something diecast to amuse myself with on our walk.

Not quite of Datsuncog flowerbed excavation calibre, but I'm only a beginner.

20210213_172402.thumb.jpg.99e013adb81c91367a726e15f42cd209.jpg

Bit Ice Road truckers, this next one, and the prismatic nature of the (really quite deep) ice had the strange effect of robbing the model of its shadow.

20210213_172250.jpg

Of course, there being snow, I couldn't ignore the fun and games that the white stuff affords fans of James Bond, his early 80s exploits and particularly the wedge-shaped, norfolk-crafted projectiles therein. Yes, I had to get the Lotus out.

This Trabant Travesty arrived in the post today!  The nice Post Lady didn't know what to make of it either.

It was made by Sunnyside and measures to approx 1:29 scale.

While it looks to be authentically* reproduced in the style of a night-time curfew repaint, while the Stasi were patrolling the streets; I feel this image of the fall of the DDR shows a more fitting colour scheme for a proper Rennpappe Universal :

With thanks to @jon.k for supplying the model 😎

Hmm.  Not sure if I fancy a variation on the blue idea after all

Might request a colour chart off the local Sachsenring dealership

I'll give them a ring.
