But don't offer it to me, I really don't want anymore, thanks! Phoar, another Proustian rush for the evening - we used to have heaps of those kicking about upstairs in the model shop's stockroom. No bugger wanted them, even discounted down to a pound. Too weird for the little kids, too kiddy for the grownups. Dick Longbridge
I've owned this Corvette Rough Rider since childhood. The lights packed up first and then then the motor stopped working around 30 years ago. I'm way more chuffed than a mid forties fella should be, but having the patience and basic common sense that comes with age has meant I've finally worked out how to get it back up and running. I've managed to solder on a bulb from a donor RR and have cleaned up the contacts for the motor- turns out the design is overly complex, but genius. Progress anyway. IT'S ALIVE!!!! Four wheel drive works a treat too! 20210204_181906.mp4 flat4alfa, Datsuncog, Tenmil Socket and 6 others

It has a V6 engine - never found in the Z28 spec, which wearing those fender extensions and air spoiler should imply To an American, this is a Kidco model as Dinky was a UK-only brand. flat4alfa
So what was all that reposting about then, eh? Well it's because I've achieved the Eastern Bloc Wagon One-Two from childhood memory. As a (small) child, they confused me for a bit as I used to mix them up when seen out in the wild. A Wartburg 353 'Knight' Tourist ! All plastic. Some gawky styling, but it's there and recognisable to me. Measures to 1/29 scale. Bought on eBay last week in a weak moment. Was just six (capitalist pig) notes though. It told me I could clean it up and sell it on later for money back at least. Probably. Once the missing rear light has been repaired that is. It looks like the flanks are bare, but squint a bit and you can see door handles. Gevo Anker is the maker, from DDR. If it's not valuable after all, will do something else with it. But why you ask? Because being in this colour and the red interior, It took me back to the UK Brochure cover car! Dick Longbridge
I'm thinning the collection if anyone is looking for a Corgi Chevy van, A Team Rough Rider or HK metal bodied Jeep. Spidervan is really clean £10. Pinder Circus and Charlies Angels vans are tidy but with some marking. £5 each. Jeep is lovely - metal bodied, pullxback mechanism and Hong Kong made. Rough Rider is for parts only as an old battery has leaked internally. Tyres and body are good though. £5.50 the pair. Oh, I'll throw in the 'banger racer' project Matchbox Mercury with these which I was gifted on here, but never fixed! 😂 Charlie's Angels van sold to SheffieldCortinaCentre Spidervan and Mercury sold to Mad Cyril Pinder circus van sold to Bunglebus AndyW201 and Sudsprint

Datsuncog
Went for a suitably socially-distanced walk at the nearby beach the other day, and found this washed up at the high-tide line: Looks like the top of a 1/43 Hongwell Cararama VW Samba bus. Not sure whether it's been a toy left behind on the beach, or if it's made its way down from the landfill site seven miles up the coast... Don't know what to do with it now, of course... Lord Sterling
In true non-Austoshite style, after payday I casually browsed eBay and spotted someone selling a load of 1/18 Porsches. I got these 2 for £less than what one would have cost when new: Both by Burago. The earlier 911 Carrera is missing a small plastic piece that keeps the front wheel solid. At the moment, pressing down on the wheel makes it feel like its got no suspension. I like the little 'Porsche' emblazoned cases in the boot. Obviously this would have been an option on the real cars. On these models they are not removable. I AM BORED at work today so I decided to dig some of my other 1/18s out for photos: Ford GT90. I've admired this model for years but kept on forgetting its existance if ever I had a bit of spare money. Thankfully, sometime last year both situations collided and I purchased this nice example for £less-than-expected. 1/18 Citroen XM. Bought off a fellow shiter some years back. Great detailing. I actually have 2 of these. The other one was the first one I was able to actually find. Unfortunately, despite being all there including box and bag, it had a massive crack along the side windows crudely glued together. I wanted a better example so bought this one when it came up. The other one might be displayed outside if I can extract it from Ma_Sterling's house. The 1980s chav mobile if you didn't want/could afford a Capri. 1/18 Opel Manta. Bought off a fellow shiter the base was cracked and broken (I was well aware if this and willing to repair) so I repaired some parts and glued the base back togther and placed it back onto its plinth. Its a great looking model that I never even knew existed! It can go alongside my 1/18 80s XR3 whenever I am able to get it over from Ma_Sterling's house. 1/18 Lexus LS400. This is quite a special model for me. Way back when in the late 90s I used to use the Brussels underground metro. Our local station was Schuman station. Upon going home (in Brussels) and getting to Schuman station there was a paper shop in the station and had this model Lexus inside box displayed in the window. I admired it for a ages when I used to walk past it. On an upcoming birthday, I explained to Fatha_Sterling that I had admired this model car and he went and bought it and sent it over to England. The Lexus in the picture isn't the actual Lexus my Dad originally got me but an identical one (as I got a bit nostalgic) the actual one is I believe, still in storage at my Dad's house. As with the Lexus, this is another model I own(ed) and got nostalgic about so bought an identical one in case my original was sold/given away. I think the original was bought in Belgium but I don't honestly remember where and am equally unsure if that had a box. I remember thinking it was an unusual model given it was an estate. I don't think there were many if any 1/18 estate cars out in the early 00s. This actual one I bought around the same time as the replacement Lexus. It's only just come out the box though were I discovered the numberplate was upside down. I tried a few things to remove the actual plastic plate it was stuck to but it seemed too secure so instead I simply peeled off the sticker (alot of the glue residue stayed on taking as much paper with it as it could 😒) and turned it back the right way up, hence it looking correct in the first pics. Enjoy. Tenmil Socket, RayMK, flat4alfa and 11 others
