bunglebus
I've been meaning to pull these two out for a WDIB for a while - Matchbox and Husky Studebaker Wagonaires. I think the Matchbox is far crisper, like the opening tailgate on the Husky though. Lead me to wondering why certain cars are chosen to be miniturised and some aren't. The Stude is an interesting design but can't have been a big seller, and would be virtually unknown outside of America at the time. Yet Lesney chose not to make a MK3 Cortina or a MK1 Escort, both hugely popular at the time. Maybe they were too busy playing catch-up with Mattel's Hot Wheels? flat4alfa, Remspoor, Sudsprint and 1 other

Jon
Hey @Datsuncog did anyone play claim to your Aleko? Rather like bunglebus, it's been playing on my mind and I'd rather like one to sit beside my Simca 1308. No problems if it's already taken/you've had a change of heart. Then I really must pay you some moola. Also, Merry Christmas everyone. I've a couple of chores to do about the place before I can see if I've received any die cast pressies (unlikely) but I have a lot of booty to update this thread with, when I get the chance to dust off the camera! eddyramrod, Datsuncog, andrew e and 3 others

Aleko is still available, as is the ZIL 117 - you're welcome to either, or both! I know, it's a bit distressing when something just keeps harping on your consciousness... I get that rather frequently... Hopefully you'll find a quiet afternoon sometime soon for more camera antics, I certainly enjoy them! Datsuncog
In an unexpected twist, a fruitless errand to locate a highly specific chocolate product landed me at St George's this afternoon - the market was running all this week, presumably in an effort to allow the traders to clear their stock before everything comes to a screeching halt once again. Now, Market Blokey had already informed me last Friday that he wouldn't be participating in the Christmas Week market, otherwise you can be sure I would have wrangled a way to attend... but I'd thought it was more the fruit and veg lot who'd be in attendance. Even though the market was meant to be open until 2pm, it was already mostly shut down just before 1. Still, the counterfeit Junkman of St George's was there, although there still seemed to be not many takers for his diecast wares (one Saint XJS appears to have sold; but that's about it). Paddy was also knocking about, and I'm not sure anything's sold from this lot since its appearance in August... I'm half-tempted to offer him sixty quid for the lot and see what he reckons. Alan also had a couple of the same Matchbox scale stuff at his Emporium as before in a tub for 35p each, but not much to tickle me. Charity Blokey had mostly the same stuff too on the stall, although a busted Dinky FAB1 was now in the mix. He also had this odd little set: Four each of three different types of construction vehicle, all plastic - crane, cherry picker and dump truck. Not identical cab mouldings, either. I've never heard of Apollo - anyone? Unusual it was, but not quite my thing. Much as I would have enjoyed scuttling home with a Christmas Eve haul, I didn't cave in. Just about. That Dinky SD1 is starting to look like it's nearly worth a tenner... I also didn't manage to get across to Whitehead and the antiques shop there, and now definitely won't since NI goes back to full lockdown at midnight tomorrow - BUT I do have the proprietor's contact details, so I'll hit him up over the next couple of days and may be able to work out some form of distanced electronic payment and collection type thing... Tat finds a way. Cheers for everything this year, folks - it's been a weird one, but I've greatly enjoyed the tat events, the show 'n' tell, and the sense of camaraderie and community on this thread which I've never found elsewhere. Proud to be a part of it! Wherever you are, and whatever you're up to, hope this Christmas is a happy and peaceful one for you all. Take care! Bren
Santa came with these. I have never had an austin taxi - even as a child. The juniors c111 is difficult to find in its original packaging. I have the rockets version which is blue. The thunderbird 2 is the pre 1973 issue which is smaller than the later ones - I have the later one but this one is a much nicer model. Six-cylinder
Final update for 2020, December saw two full sizes cars join the fleet, which means I needed 1/43 models of them. First was a red 1974 Triumph Toledo 2 door, I could not find a Toledo at all so I had to settle for a Vanguards white Dolomite to represent it on the shelve. Last of the year was a Black 2003 Beetle convertible and the best 1/43 model I could find was a poor New-Ray Toys yellow one. Spottedlaurel
This was a present yesterday (although I'd chosen and paid for it myself): And I recently got these: I primarily got them for nostalgia value, as I remember the AMT and Matchbox tie-in and I may have a catalogue with this pair in them. The Mustang has surfaced a few times since then and I believe it's the basis for the 1971 007 car that they've just released. I was hoping the Monza could be built standard, but I'd have to modify the front bumper and spoiler as it only has one to suit the wide arches. eddyramrod
The other day I mentioned my latest ebay purchase. Here it is... The 1964 Ford Galaxie from Men In Black 3, complete with agents J and K. I wouldn't mind some more figures with my 1/18 cars; I've only got these two and Al Pacino from Scarface. The Ford is quite a nice model. I've seen it offered, but not often, and I know there are two police variants available which I've chased around the Bay for years without success. I have reservations about it being the two-door "hardtop" (pillarless) variety, but nobody makes a four-door sedan in this scale. I have a bit of a soft spot for the 64 Ford, as there was a gold four-door sedan parked in a front garden for years in Southport, and I would see it often when out on my bike. I'm sure it was even RHD, but of course it's long gone now. Frogchod, Burnside, bunglebus and 4 others
