@Datsuncog Was the Fiat Uno and Jag still the same price?

@andrew e I'm unsure of thw rear seats work. I've tried pulling them up but they don't budge easily. Plus the parcel shelf is in the way if they were to come up.  I might give it another go at some point.....

@andrew e - I've just tried (and dislodged the rear seat I stuck down, no biggie though) and it doesn't come up.

Well well well... home again, with a bulging bag of goodies.

Lo!

Some decent finds, and some minor disappointments.

Dinky De Soto Fireflite picked up for @Amishtat at target price of £10 - nice.

Likewise, £2.50 bought the A35 van for @eddyramrod, and it's in pretty good nick with only wing mirrors and one of the 'Police' boards missing. Unfortunately the Morris J van had already been snaffled - booooo.

I nabbed the Matchbox Dinky SI Land Rover mainly for myself, as I stupidly passed up a boxed example in plain green only a few weeks back. But if anyone else wants it, £2.50 takes it.

Then...

That's right, the Dinky Gran Fury cab - was it @bunglebus wanted this one?

And, of course, the loose China Motor Bus Leyland - one for @Split_Pin

Basically, he had a tenner on the De Soto, and charged me another tenner for the other four - hence splitting the difference.

If you folks want them, then crack on - otherwise I'll offer them out more generally.

Then there's these two Corgis:

Early release Rolls Royce Corniche, and Kojak's Buick Regal.

The oul lad - who, I noticed for the first time, styles himself as 'Junkman' on his stall - did these both for £7, so shall we say £4.50 on the Rolls and £2.50 on the Regal, if anyone's keen?

Next up, more Far Eastern bus fun:

Yup, it's the boxed Leyland Victory on the right, contrasted against the unboxed one on the left.

I'd thought they were the very same identical model, but I was wrong. The castings and detail are quite different across the board. This is why I am hopeless at identifying buses

I'd also never heard of Collector's Model as a manufacturer - not one we ever stocked in my time behind the shop counter, but maybe they came along a little after I left to work in Halfords instead (1998), as with the splendidly named Creative Master Northcord.

But these are truly exceptional little models at 1/72 scale.

The little bus queue is everything.

I'm not sure which model came first, as the boxed one has rather more crisply detailed wheels - but the loose one has windows slid open, and also a sliding driver's door, which is a new one on me.

Chassis detail is also superlative, with a separately moulded engine and even a fine-mesh grille with the engine just visible behind when viewed from the front - my phone camera's not quite able to pick this up, annoyingly.

The boxed one even comes with a packet of passengers, and a charming little gallery booklet of Chinese Leylands in service.

Just to finish off the buses, I also bought this for myself - a Badgerline Bristol RE.

1656674929_IMG_20201218_1400102.thumb.jpg.de5142881ddd877e02734478636ccab5.jpg

Now, they weren't using quite such ancient Bristols in my time, but I seem to recall X-suffix versions plying their trade round the Villages into the 2000s, and some fairly ropey Leylands shuttling me back to W-S-M after an exhausting day trailing round Bristol's fine secondhand record shops (always finishing at Replay by the bus station). Also, a former MissDC worked for Badgerline in the late 90s, so there's a fair bit of nostalgia happening.

So that one's a keeper, I'm afraid!

Then we're into the Soviet stuff... coming up next!

(Lest I lose all this text, again)

That ABC Victory looks amazing, I'll definitely bite your hand off for that one. It's actually a Dennis Jubilant as the fleet number begins with DS, Victorys were LV.

Collector's model were first (just) with their CMB Victory in the Summer of 1999. There was a bit of a flurry among UK collectors initially as the detail was way above the mark of EFE and OOC, having handrails, poseable wheels and a driver. There was always a Hong Kong Release and a UK release with slightly different details.

ABC came along a few months later with their take on the Victory ( and very similar Dennis Jubilant). It was way above the Collectors Model in terms of detail, as you can see. Unfortunately they were also out of my price range.

The bubble sort of burst around 2003 and these early HK model bus manufacturers either stopped production , such as Collectors Model, or there was ABC who split in two, into Creative Master Northcord  (now also gone) and Britbus.

If you're interested, Jotus model depot (Part  of Oriental Model bus depot I think) has a catalogue of just about every model bus to be released either from or for the Hong Kong and surrounding market, also giving details of the UK releases.

I still have my ABC Volvo Ailsas and they have always been my favourites.

I'll PM you regarding e-monies, thanks for picking this one up. As you can tell, I'm quite excited about it!

Nyarrr... tried twice to respond to everyone, and twice the text has vanished at the end... so apologies if the third time sounds terse, I'm just fed up with glitching...

The chrome Duple Metsec Trident (on the right of the pic of them together) is deffo worth getting if it it was still around and the CMB Collectors Model and one of those Cityflyer Tridents if they were still about.

The boxed CMB is yours if you fancy it - unfortunately I was already away before I clocked your post, so the others remained on the stall... But mebbe in a few weeks they'll still be about!

I got all excited at those  Corgi transporters, let me know if you made on last grab on them 👍

I really wanted them, but for a tenner they were too damaged (squashage). I've seen better go for less online.

Of course, now I'm eaten up with regret...

I didn't ask him, to my shame - but I'll keep them in mind, as and when!

Gran Fury and Regal please!

Had a quick look on Steve Flowers but the Regal is far too new and vulgar for him to do a window replacement for. I have been hoarding clear plastic from packaging though

No bother - Regal's pretty good, bar the glazing.

Oh, though Crocker's gun has been chewed off, and now it looks like he's giving the finger to his pursuers, rather than shooting them up.

I'm up for the AA Landy :) and thank you for snaffling the A35, it's going to get repainted blue to match one we had when I was about 13...

Good stuff, will put those aside for you!

Colchester Borough Transport used to have Bristol REs when I was a child and you could hear those bastards coming over the bridge from town in my parents' back garden about a mile and a half away. Rough riders too, from memory.

The CBT Atlanteans are permanently etched in my mind. I can see them slogging up Head Street right now.  If EFE ever makes one – especially with the proper Leyland script across the top of the bustle – I'll leap on it.

Oh god yeah.. They really suited that livery too. I'm not even one quarter of a bus nerd but yes, I recall their own unique sound thrashing up North Hill or over the Braiswick bridge, the same place I heard the REs. The Atlantean were withdrawn about 1997/8 and even then I hoped someone had saved one at least. Happily it seems someone did, I asked on the bus shite thread a while back and at least one has survived. If there's ever a model made I'll have one or two for sure. I was cycling down Mile End Road on my way to school with my mate in 1992 when he decided to slipstream it. (For those unfamiliar with Colchester, it was doing 20mph at best,) It stopped at the lights, he didn't, at least without its immediacy. Nearly thirty years later I'm still grinning when I think of his near-perfect outline in the road filth on its bustle.
