Usually incorrectly referred to as a Ford Fairlane Station Wagon, however Ford did not apply Fairlane to any station wagon in the 1956 US range.  So therefore it is a model of the 1956 Ford Country Sedan

Station Wagon spec went from Ranch > Custom Ranch > Country Sedan > Parklane (all 2-door) > Country Squire (all 4-door 'woody')

Looks in pretty good condition for a 60+ year old

You can find the Hot Wheels version a bit more easily, although it's the two-door and based on the 55

I sold one of those MB Station Wagons in my Diecast Sale... What I failed to remember was that I still need one to paint green for my James Bond Code 3 sub-collection; when Goldfinger approaches Fort Knox, his convoy passes Felix Leiter in exactly this car, in a ditch at the roadside.  So if anyone finds a tatty one, please think about me!

What you need is a '54 !

What do you reckon Smoll Eddy?

Me too - well technically yesterday but I only opened it today after getting my multi-buy deals sorted out at Tesco.

I came away with rather a lot:

All bar the Coffee Cruisers one have been ripped open so I can photograph the ones I want and bung the rest on eBay. Luckily for me they only had the yellow/loaded and red/unloaded VW T3 crew cabs or I'd have ended up with more, as each colour is available with and without junk in the trunk bed

Aha!

You cheated!  😁   Looking at my eBay profile history indeed!

Yes and was surprised to get it.  Was expecting a run on it - not get it for under £8.

Will have the missing jewel somewhere.  New decals are a couple of quid.  So if I can get the lot in for under £10, as have a similar colour rattle can already, I might be able to sleep at night again.

So there I am, idly wandering around the shops waiting for mrs and kids to finish in the opticians, looking at the stuff in the 10 packs we haven't seen as single cars yet...

20201118_154943.thumb.jpg.bd4563bad245db508066cfb0f48b0bcd.jpg20201118_154936.thumb.jpg.54546c846748058b4576ddbfde9a8cce.jpg20201118_154917.thumb.jpg.26715a4f1ea18bc019e5e314fd074651.jpg

...saw this Maisto, is it the old Corgi casting still going?

20201118_161736.thumb.jpg.0cb7fb42e9e0399a55e2b956af93e6ae.jpg

Then I realise they've re-stocked the Hot Wheels

20201118_173044.thumb.jpg.57672faa6818b930f5d853b9bc7d0d97.jpg20201118_173305.thumb.jpg.f9ad506e10d89561ee1b94d275b484a4.jpg

New colour of the Baja is nice, the last two were based on the Sand Scorcher and Monster Beetle, not sure if this one is from anything significant

Really like the colour scheme on the Porsche

20201118_172950.thumb.jpg.83ccb5b7209b2e3bae47116c50131f47.jpg

Not sure about the UNO 32 but I love the slot mag wheels

20201118_172641.thumb.jpg.cba27d5f9c119db40851507f7d10e552.jpg

This one's a real oddball, Hot Wheels have been doing car shows and choosing vehicles to make castings of. This one is called Nashole, obviously Mattel had to tone that down for kids

20201118_173139.thumb.jpg.d5cc9afc8d5c9da06fddb37df92f7b59.jpg

It looks really strange with the wheels outside the body so I might have a go at returning it to something a bit more stock looking

The Dinky is better. The rest of the casting is 100% worse than the Corgi

Got these off Mr. Alfa today, I know we've looked at these a bit recently but there are some interesting bits we haven't seen

First up, Vanatic. I hadn't seen this one before, love the 70's custom vibe

20201118_143323

Lovely bit of wood paneling inside, and the round rear windows

20201118_143338

Next up, Charlie's Angels, one I've really wanted to track down. Unfortunately no Drew Barrymore included (the original series was before my time).

20201118_143149

Same interior - is that a shag pile rug or a chocolate digestive?

20201118_143215

Next up, the Mystery Machine - another new one on me. Missing its roof bars

20201118_143050

No rear interior detail, different wheels and a much more basic base on this one

20201118_143124

Circus van is the last of the bunch, with my Sunday name on the side

20201118_142944

The rear step arrangement on this is genius

20201118_14301120201118_14301720201118_143028

Here's how the base usually looks on one of these

Hmmm, that's interesting to see the base of the more modern Mystery Machine, compared to an original van.

Looks much more like the Corgitronics version - I wonder if the original detailed base moulds were lost, and the Radio Van was all they had to modify?

1800960880_IMG_20201118_2223212.thumb.jpg.7aef1933174494f104c8fc7b7dedf86d.jpg

But - the Mystery Machine does feature door handles and door shut lines, unlike the other panel vans, both solid roof and window roof types.

EDIT: what's the other side like? Does it have a sliding door picked out, like the ambulance version - or just as smooth?

More Corgi arrivals at Casa Datsuncog, too...

1089167973_IMG_20201118_2223582.thumb.jpg.2e64a448b3f432756d16e05729352cdb.jpg

A later 1980s/90s Corgi Mercedes 207D van in TNT Overnite colours, and quite a bit smaller in scale than 1/36 - I'd guess it's somewhere around the 1/40 mark.

298722482_IMG_20201118_2224332.thumb.jpg.b39a04cdad7c200f6cfe0c600f99f128.jpg

Opening side door is very well executed, mind - smooth opening action and snug fit when closed. Pity their Mk3 Transit didn't have a sliding side door; I always felt like it could have done with something a little more... fun.

I sold on a ropey one of these a while back, and I wasn't all that fussed about getting another but then this appeared, as new and alluringly cheap...

Last Corgi off t'net for a while. It has to be.

I had the Pepsi version of that as a kid and I thought the subject choice was marvellously relevant and the side door action was almost perfect as you say!

That one is long gone but I still have the Parceline one my Granny brought me 'all the way from Bridlington'. I remember she gave me it at her house when I was about 8 and giving her a hug because I was so pleased with it. I also got the TNT one there from a shiter on here a few years ago.

It's great that they released them in some liveries that you could see every day but were more interesting than Royal Mail or AA.

On that note, did Corgi ever make a White Arrow MK3 Transit? They used to be omnipresent around my way in the 1980s, driven really, really fast and have the driver's sliding door seemingly permanently open.
