Very interesting on the Dinky 1980 front. I wonder if any pre-production Granada's survive as the Fire Chief one looks to be a proper model and not a resin mock up.

I have one of those orange Dinky Volvo 265s which up until now I always thought was a repaint of a previously blue model . The finish looks very amateur however there is indeed no trace of blue paint underneath the arches or in the shut lines.

There are a couple of pictures of surviving Granadas on that thread I posted earlier.

I didn't think the orange Volvo saw production but happy to be wrong.

Top o' the morning, it's Tat Friday!

Hopefully

Well, you're in luck - it IS Tat Friday.

Another cold start this morning, with streaming windows and plumes of smoke from the Subaru at 7.30... the car's thermometer reckoned it was a bracing 4 degrees above freezing. I had my big coat on, but not my gloves. I should have brought my gloves.

Stopping at an ATM to pick up some of the folding stuff, I scooted in at about 8:05... things were pleasantly disorganised again this morning on the Tat Stall, so while Market Blokey sorted his wares out, I toddled over to the Charity Stall...

Charity Bloke was hoofing random diecast and tinplate onto the table, so I did my bit and set them out properly , neat and tidy-like. Once a shopkeeper, etc etc...

Some interesting stuff this week -Corgi Citroen DS 'Le Dandy' (missing its spotlight pods and jewelled headlights); a fairly worn Dinky Clubman peelermobile; plus a De Agostini GS Birotor in so-so shape (chips to the edges and missing the wipers and aerial, and which was then nabbed by one of my nemeses before I could make my mind up).

Superkings race transporter missing its cover and ramp, but otherwise good. Majorette Jeep alongside also lacking a canopy, but otherwise quite minty.

Huge fire appliance is a recent Corgi, apparently, though missing quite a few bits sadly.  It also seems to have a battery hatch, so presumably has some form of parent-torturing light and sound function. Corgi Berlioz tractor unit may have originally been found pulling the Dolphinarium?

Lotsa Tonka today too, ranging from very good to just ok.

Superkings Miura is a bit borked, but the Datapost Racing Metro was ok. TWA Airport Coach was unfamiliar; made by 'SVZ Toys' or something like that?

688988043_IMG_20201002_0900352.thumb.jpg.9ec5005f3738cc61da85ff3624c8aaa1.jpg

Unusual cement mixer by JOAL, with a LAD cab - so could be a Leyland, Albion or Dodge. No model name on the base, or insignia on the casting. I probably should have picked this up, but the lack of mixer on the back put me off... ah, regets...

I'm surprised these Buddy L pickups are still around - he may be looking unreasonably high prices, or maybe there's just not so many tat hunters these days. Big plastic Corvette C4 with a friction drive motor was very nicely rendered, including a super-detailed base, though no manufacturing name or even country of origin mentioned anywhere on it.

While waiting for Market Blokey to sort himself out, I also mooched past Paddy's Antiques, where the somewhat optimistically-priced models from last week were still, shockingly, unsold...

It's all about the presentation when you're dealing with top-end prices, I find.

The eponymous Paddy was nowhere to be seen, so I couldn't even find out if he'd wised up any from last week.

...and the camper body for the Mazda B1600 pickup. But no stallholder = no sales.

Got a positive ID on that garage ramp, though...

Definitely Fisher-Price.

So a wander back round to the Tat Stall revealed not very much new, other than some boxed Corgis - £12 for the Bedford/Thames trucks, and £10 for the Minor/ Morris J vans.

imp & mgmgmgb/c? price- are they worth it?

Pricing up top seemed to be between £5 and £10 last week, but may have decreased (market a fair bit quieter this week, probably due to local lockdown restrictions in Belfast) - Imp probably not worth top dollar, as it's a glued together repaint with replica stickers but, for some reason, there's no flexomatic suspension mounts so it's slammed flat to the ground...

MGC is a wee bit playworn, but maybe ok if he'd take a fiver? I think this one has been hanging around since March; I'll check my Tat Archive to see if it's the same one (as I may have better pics if it).

I'll have to investigate the picture uploader issue, as it's getting to be a bit of a bore having to exit out of the thread and then go back in and restore content every time a picture fails to upload.

So then - what did I come away with today?

Well, you may have noticed it in the freshly-posted pics of the tat boxes - but I finally brought this one home.

Yup, it's the big Corgi Majors American La France fire truck that I've had my eye on since July.

Initially, I left it cos I didn't have the £10 asking price on me... but this thing fascinated me as a kid, since Corgi kept making it right into the 1980s and I remember it from contemporary catalogues.

Detail is impressive on it, and it's survived pretty well.

Painted firefighters add an extra level of realism...

...although, annoyingly, the tillerman has fallen out at some point over the past few weeks. He was deffo in there when I first looked at this.

I'm not quite sure what the rotating winch drum with a tangle of thread is meant to do, mind.

Manufacturer logo is a nice touch; seems to be something Corgi started doing in the late 60s.

Am I pleased with this one? You bet!

One for the Cog Display Case Collection - for now anyway.

And there were other acquisitions too...

As alluded to above, a spares Ghia L4 was picked up for @flat4alfa...

I think you'd wanted this for the glazing - well, there is a minor crack to the rear screen, but this may be better than what you have - also the front bumper's not too bad either. Doggo has, unfortunately, run away - and one door is also missing, along with the back bumper. I did have a jolly good rake through the box to see if I could find any of 'em, but nope.

A-post is also unhappy, but hopefully this might be handy for something!

Also, an arrival for @eddyramrod...

This Hunter is pretty ropey, but the base, shell and glazing are all intact so as a base for a custom, this may be some use?

No Golden Jacks wheels present, but the jacking mechanism seems ok after all.

The best bit was that I knew the La France was £10, and so proffered my finds to Market Blokey hoping that he'd agree to do them for £15 all-in, reasoning that £2.50 each was probably tolerable for the Hunter and Ghia...

But no, to my amazement he charged me £10 for the lot.

So, since I was budgeting a tenner for the fire truck anyway, the others will be going to F4A and Eddy for nowt.

Lastly, there was this...

It's had a few touch-ups to the nose, but is otherwise in reasonable shape.

I've been after one of these for a while, and reckoned this was certainly worth £10... though whether it's staying permanently is still up for debate.

If anyone wants to get dibs in now, I'm listening...

So! Not a bad week, all told - no 50p Tat today, but I feel it in my waters that another Autumn Shed Sale may be on the cards before too long...

Til next time, Tat-fans!

I'd be interested in the Dinky Clubman! I sold mine a few years ago for a quid and regretted it.

Good stuff - will have a look next week and see what's there! Both the Tat Stall and the Charity Stall had a Clubman each, in broadly similar nick, so with any luck one of them will still be knocking around.

that tangled mess of black thread on the Lea France fire engine is the means by which all 3 of the main ladders can be extended, which out having to use your fingers!

i cannot remember how EXACTLY the model needs to be threaded up, but on the one i had as a kid, turning the winch drum pulled out the second, and then third ladder out.

google will i am sure tell you how it needs to be strung to get it too work.

MGC is a wee bit playworn, but maybe ok if he'd take a fiver? I think this one has been hanging around since March; I'll check my Tat Archive to see if it's the same one (as I may have better pics if it).

Ok, so it's a different MGC from before - actually looks pretty good, the one today.

Any thoughts about a target/maximum price?

Received a package from @Datsuncog today.

No photos as I was too busy marvelling at this - it's worse close up. The diamante fog lights are actually earrings. Eww.

Hey, glad it all showed up ok, and apologies for the delay - but hopefully worth waiting for. That Caprice is pretty special...

The Summer Jaguar XJ12C casting is something of a regular on these pages - I've had a couple pass through my hands - but I don't think I've seen this tampo decoration on it before.

'Rally Racaing'? Well, okay then.

I'm guessing the outline represents Namibia, South Africa and Madagascar - is this a rally route that anyone recognises?

As with all of the above, available at 50p a throw!

I like this one

I still have a few of the cones and signs left over from my childhood one that went years ago.....

So, I'd better say yes.  When you're ready, no rush

Oh no what has he done to the DOGGIE !  It was there the other day, see look:

It looks like the doggie took the A-post with it too

He needs to be more careful.
