OK it's incomplete, but if the price fits I won't worry too much. Does it have all four wheels? It's a Golden Jacks model so they often go missing... No wheels at all on the Hunter, and £5 asked... I've bought better Hunters off him for less! When I worked in the model shop back in my callow youth, we had a whole drawer full of spare Golden Jacks wheels, still carded... Didn't have a clue what they were for, back then, and for all I know they're still there!

Shop's been in the same place since 1962 (though I did leave there to work for Halfords, which was in a retail park) - all it sells is nursery stuff these days, and I'm quite sure none of the staff there nowadays even remember the models section - but I bet if I could get access to the old stockrooms on the top floor and attics, I could find some very interesting stuff... thing is, nobody else will go up there though! andrew e

Datsuncog
But! Best close off the market event, before moving onto what I came home with... Charity Stall still had those darned Buddy L's: ...while the VX220 and Lotus turned out to be a bit fooked, really. Other stuff was, well, toys... Though I reckon there's more than just a touch of Triumph 2000 Mk2 about this Postman Pat police car... Maybe a hint of Hillman Imp at the back, too? Though the rear overhang to the roof is pure Michelotti styling, I think you'll agree. Interesting - but not enough to tempt! Datsuncog
So then - today's haul was a bumper one, and this is what arrived back to Casa Datsuncog in sundry bags... Closer look at the carded stuff... And the loose stuff. Crikey. So who's who, and what's what? Well, there's a brace of Metro 6R4 slotcars for @flat4alfa - one complete but scruffy, the other lacking a rear axle but looking a little fresher. Who knew that Britain stopped being great after the Hornby takeover of Scalextric? Lots of lovely carpet gack around the back axle there, but I daresay the future for these is based on some cunning work with a Dremel to slotify other vehicles... Also for Mr@flat4alfa are these Greenlight miniatures; bit of a steal at £1 each, still sealed... ...especially when you see the original prices on the back. Yup, the 'permanent marker on the packaging' confirms that these two originated from the model shop over at Smithfield, whose proprietor has the infuriating habit of just writing the price straight on the model's box/blister. He does it to older stuff too. This is just one way in which he really, really gets on my tits. (Other ways include bundling interesting older tat along with broken Days Gone and then looking £40 for a sealed pack; selling things in reproduction boxes without declaring this and at prices well above what you'd expect to pay for genuine mint/boxed; and generally being a patronising prick. Just to digress, a few weeks back I called over to see if he had a Rover 75 in black for @Split_Pin; no sooner was I through the door to the (empty) shop, masked and hand sanitised, than he tartly asked if there was anything I was looking for. I said yes, a Vanguards Rover 75 in black; I could see he had the MG ZT in blue and in yellow... "Oh no, I wouldn't have one of those - they don't make them any more, you see. They're old. I can't just get them in." Through gritted teeth I explained that yes, I knew they were obsolete - but then 99% of his stock falls under that category. That's kinda the point. I said I'd have a look at some of his other stuff, and started to examine the Vanguards shelf (stacked about three models high and five models deep, all different, so a pain to try to see what's actually there). "Well, you won't find one there - that's all Lledo Vanguards, the Rover was made as Corgi Vanguards..." The Corgi Vanguards were literally six inches from where I was looking. I'd just happened to notice an older Marina first. After a few minutes of being stared at while I carefully lifted box after box to see what was actually on the shelf, he then broke in to ask if there was anything else I was looking for - as I was about to exceed my 'time limit'. The shop was still devoid of other customers. I was mulling over getting a Vanguards Subaru Legacy, but he was hacking me off so much, I just said no and walked out. The next week, I found a Legacy in Cash Converters at two thirds of the price, and without marker pen scrawled on the box. I'm not planning on going back to him again. Rant over). So... what else? Oh yeah, the Siku Mercedes Skip Truck for @155V6. Twirling my pantomime-villain moustache, I employed my diecast droit de seigneur and flipped open the box to take a few snaps. It's really, really clean - other than a spot of dust, it has that 'new toy' feel - though since the box says it's 'Made in the Federal Republic of Germany', I'm guessing this is a 1980s model? Just lovely. Impressive working mechanism and all. There's some damp marks on the box inner, probably from loft storage, but overall this is a cracker. I carefully packed it all back up again, ready for its next journey across the Irish Sea. Moving on, wasn't this Majorette Dodge Splodge also one from @155V6's request list, a coupla weeks back? Or have I completely made that up? Either way, £1 took this one. I think I'm right in stating that @andy18s wants these two, both from the 50p Box... ...while these might be handy as spares for @bunglebus: Plus here's the Majorette Porsche 911 Turbo noticed earlier by @bunglebus, and a Rockets GP Buggy that's missing its axles but not its chassis - both 50p Box residents, too. Yours if you want 'em, dude! And lastly, the star of the show, also requested by @155V6 - a rather lovely boxed Lesney MG-1 Service Station. Assuming the box end shows the overall contents... Is is complete - I think. Stickers are present, and the only damage I can see is to the front of the kiosk, where some ne'er-do-well has kicked the pane in a bit. Given how fragile this feels, it's a miracle it's so well preserved. No canopy damage. Back looks curiously blank. No plastic degradation either; this has been stored away for a long time, I'd say. Now, I'd guess that the BP sign would have had some sort of a diecast base to attach into - there doesn't seem to be one here, but it seems a surplus IKEA fixing makes a reasonable stand-in. Slight bend to the pole, but after 50 years or so, can't really be blamed... Other side is ok too, though some minor damage to the BP sticker. The main building, then... Maybe a minor warp on the horizontal plane, but glazing is all intact and there's no damage I can see. Right hand side, with a 'staff only' door is plain but functional. Rear section has access for vehicles, and a storeroom door, but otherwise quite utilitarian. Far side is a paradigm of 1960s New International design language. Roof has some moulded-in vents/skylights - and I know that later versions of this were definitely fitted with a 'Matchbox' sign and some flags, but although there are some holes in the right place, there's nothing of that nature shown on the box illustration. So maybe earlier ones lacked this? Dunno. Still, all good up top. Stickers are still bright, and in good nick. Chocolate and ciggies. Get 'em young, etc etc. Some wrinkling to the 'self service cafe' sticker, but not enough to spoil the realism. Would you really buy a hot dog from a vending machine, though? Was this a thing? Box-wise, one end flap is missing entirely, while the other one is present but detached. One box face has a few water marks, while the other is very clean. There's also a tear along one edge, on which a very minor attempt to use Sellotape has been made - but thankfully, the box has suffered less than might be expected from The Devil's String. Also: Good to know. So you can lick it all you like. Overall I think this is a fine piece, and - if you care to take a look online - £20 ain't a bad price at all. Reproduction cardboard bases seem to be available (though again, did this originally come with one?), and I think this should display pretty well Happy enough with this, dude? And now, the other bits and bobs... Amishtat, andrew e, Jon and 12 others 14

Datsuncog
Okay then - I was in a bit of a rush and running low on the old folding stuff by 10 o'clock, so I didn't manage to grab everything I could have done... however, these premium Hot Wheels appealed at £1 a throw: At a distance, I half-thought the Impala was a Plymouth Fury - but no, it's a Chevy. Still, I figured someone here might be interested in it, and also the Forza BMW M3 - available for the pound I paid. [***IMPALA & BMW BOTH SOLD!!!***] More mainline is the Matchbox Caprice Classic Patrol Car and Hot Wheels 007 Mustang Mach 1 - I know these were everywhere last year. I quite like the Chevy, but the Mustang's available for £1. [***MUSTANG SOLD!!!***] Also picked up for a pound each were these four German Police Sikus: Mercedes C220, Audi A6 Avant, BMW 320i and VW T4 minibus - all a little dirty, and some a wee bit marked, but could be of interest here? [***AUDI, BMW & VW SOLD!!!*** - MERC STILL AVAILABLE!] Next up, the 50p Tat: A Majorette La France (?) fire ladder; a Lesney Matchbox racing Kenworth with peculiar White-Tac customising; and a Lesney Road Dragster in fairly good shape. All selling for 50p. [***ROAD DRAGSTER SOLD!!!***] On the more modern end of the Tat Box: A Matchbox 'Sahara Survivor' that reminded me more than a little of the Desert Rats 'Pink Panther' Land Rover, as modelled by Tamiya, I think. Plus a Hot Wheels '72 Ford Gran Torino Sport, in decent shape. I'll happily keep both of these, but if you fancy them, then 50p each! [***TORINO SOLD!!!***] Also cheap was this Ford Mustang III Zakspeed, one from the Corgi Turbos-rivalling Matchbox Specials range (whereby "Special" meant "nothing opens and it'll look weirdly small next to your Superkings toys") 50p takes this one. [***SOLD!!!***] And finally, a spot of comedy... I believe this 1/43-ish item is meant to be a VW Passat B3 saloon, but the front and rear detailing are barely there... it was the VW alloys that actually helped to identify it. No maker has been brave enough to put their name to this, which is surely a tragedy, but I think the decals speak for themselves. In a parallel universe, I want this to be how all Touring Cars are decorated... OMG bASe. If you feel this would augment your own collection, then 50p takes it. Whew! I do believe that's it! Til next time, folks! andrew e, Sudsprint, RoadworkUK and 2 others
bunglebus
Thanks @Datsuncog I'll take the ones you grabbed for me including the Corgi buggy - the Corvette I spotted was the red and yellow matchbox one (about a '62 or so) but I'll take the one you found unless anyone else fancies it. If the Matchbox one is still there next time please nab it if possible... The Greenlight and HW premium ones are great for that price - I never asked about them as I assumed they wouldn't be £1 - goes to prove what assuming does.
