Mystery Tat Parcel showed up unexpectedly at Casa Datsuncog this afternoon... But what was within?

Crikey!

A neatly detached Matchbox Superkings DAF tractor unit from the transporter set, and a Corgi Juniors Mack R type...

...that just happens to go perfectly with the scruffy Gloster Saro tanker that showed up in Friday's tat haul.

I had a few interesting bits and bobs arrive to take my mind off the lurgy that seems to have infected my household (appears to be just a cold, not expiring this week hopefully)

Just another ex-Corgi Postage Carrera, but exceptionally heavy and made in China - actually quite unusual for Hot Wheels other than McDonald's giveaway stuff.

This one is one of the less common Lone Star Flyers, Maserati Mistrale. The windscreen was either fitted incorrectly new or someone had it apart, I refitted it over the dash rather than behind it but it was already cracked

Next up, a trio of Matchbox 57 Chevies. I used to have a mint pink one but the ex wife kept it

Talking of Matchbox Chevies, until now I didn't know they did a '55. Not a very good '55 mind you

56 Buick doesn't seem to have been widely available as a single, I suspect this was out of a multi pack

I remember being obsessed with the MB Peugeot Quasar when I was at junior school. Bearing in mind mum had a Dolomite and dad a Cortina, this looked pretty futuristic

Moving to Ertl for a moment, scored a very tidy KITT. They really made this on a budget with stickers rather than decals, even the scanner at the front is reflective tape

Back to MB, Turbo II flatnose Porsche

Too lazy to dig my catalogues out - what was this series called? First one I've seen in the flesh anyway

Lastly, one of the excellent Cadillac ambulances. Blister is damaged so might get released out of captivity

Your 300 ZX is from an early 1990's Matchbox series called 'Lightning Wheels' & each model came with a plastic cylinder to store the model in, which had a spec sheet detailing the spec of the real vehicle the mdoel was based on. I think there was an F40, & a Porsche of some kind in the same series, plus a few more models no doubt!

More showing off!  As alluded to over in my Huggy thread, here's the 1/18 Film and TV cabinet...

1926017623_DC024.thumb.jpg.e3bb60ef72bbaeb235d14eba0545f9a3.jpg

So we start with the Batmobile, obviously; and Al Pacino's Cadillac from Scarface, complete with Al himself...

1631285208_DC025.thumb.jpg.495114920ba61cdf7639970f3dbb36fa.jpg

Then we move on to Christine, of course; Eleanor (the proper one); and the Striped Tomato.

702434904_DC026.thumb.jpg.afc75d55c7653f1cc54ba0f3a268bdf9.jpg

John Milner's Deuce Coupe from American Graffiti; and the yellow Pontiac GTO from Two Lane Blacktop.  GTO is out of place; that's where the Bluesmobile sits, but I took it out for this shot...

If you have two 1974 Dodge Monacos, you have to put them together, don't you?  Even if the "serving" copcar is a Nevada Highway Patrol unit and so a long way from Elwood's usual haunts!  I wonder if a Nevada car would have SCMODS?

So, back to Blighty, and a smaller scale...

2040132548_DC028.thumb.jpg.54dea7716ca1baf771e055495fe3e73e.jpg

Ebay sticker sheets arrived today, so I was finally able to finish off my Dinky Police fleet!  I reckon this set could have been on the roads in about 1970 in the combination shown.

1229022055_DC029.thumb.jpg.7f557d7e4ca6ff19b2beaa11a995b353.jpg

All my Dinky police Transits.  L-R: my "new" restoration; one my sister gave me last time we met; and two 60s originals that I've picked up over time.

Sorry I thought I written something under the link

It was because they are the same casting but the extra effort on the detailing has made all the difference.  I’ll be (probably) keeping eye out for ‘Real Riders’ versions instead from now on

He prefers the blue.

Benny Green also agreed with us. So, ‘ner’.

Trisha Yates can get stuffed.

I can't figure out what kind of car this is in the blue.

It's killing me inside. It's like a budget AM Lagonda.

Screenshot_2020-09-14-19-47-20-86.jpg

Already correctly identified as an E32 7-series, but nostalgia points since I had an identical one of those once; pull-back motor occupying the back seats, and odd opening boot and doors combo. Trying and failing to remember the manufacturer, though - Sun Ray, possibly, or MC Toy/Maisto?

In fact, looking at that pic, I owned all of those models at one stage, including the Skybusters... didn't custom signwrite my Mercury Sable, mind!

I'll just lob in a couple of pics of my childhood here as a newb - still got my 2 Matchbox carry cases from my formative model buying in the 80s. My OCD side still cries a bit when I get them out, I used to have one exclusively for Matchbox which were my model of choice when I was young and they were all arranged in order of purchase, while the other box was for all the odd Corgi, Majorette and Hot Wheels stuff I also accumulated when I saw an interesting one. Sadly all that went to pot when my beloved firstborn went through them when he was that age?

Even then I was always happier getting hold of a model of a "real" car rather than some striped up American hot rod and I had a liking for more retro models too (albeit at that age "retro" is 5-10 years ago rather than showroom fresh!!) so was always more pleased with the likes of the Cortina in the foreground (yes, my dad had one of those) and had to hunt hard to find the Mk1 Golf and my pride and joy the RS2000 (trailer and glider long gone)

I got quite a good haul from Tescos today.

I didn't know of the Galaxie, Mercury and Pontiac.

IMG_20200915_214559.thumb.jpg.b120d293e5c9913c843d77a4da644a49.jpg

Its a shame the Galaxie has green windows. I always hated it when they put stupid colored 'glass' in them. The fox body Stang is in dire need of a paint job, I might convertiblize it to look like my Dads old one.

I also picked up another MB 41 Cadillac convertible and a orange Golf if anyone's interested?
