Again, at £10 each these are pretty much top whack - the clean-looking Elan might be worth that, but the ropey Ghias and tired looking MkX probably aren't. Definitely heading now! Yeah, I think he may have been having a cheeky peek at eBay to see what these fetch - for me, they're neither cheap enough to pass on, nor clean enough to be worth having just for themselves (Rockets aren't really my thing, but had they been mint I would have gladly considered them the start of a new collection). Not the kinda thing that normally appeals, but it's detailed and cheap, so I guess I might do something with it... Rounding off the big stuff, there's this no-name Paddy Peelermobile: Spot the deliberate* mistake... No, not just that it seems to be a 2dr Omega coupé... GM products in the Republic of Ireland are badged as Opel, not Vauxhall as per the grille. Though that's a bit of a quibble for what's basically a kids' toy. Available at 50p, if you fancy it! Datsuncog Posted August 28, 2020 Share Posted August 28, 2020 Okay then - Matchbox first, I think, and as spotted - quite a decent Cosmic Blues, paired with a reasonable Lesney-era Ferrari 308GTB that seemed too clean to leave to the tender mercies of the tat-box rakers. The Ferrari's the original 1981 release in plain red - from 1982 on, it gained 'FERRARI' lettering down the side. The Cosmic Blues is a later 1980s version, made in China. 50p each, as ever. ***BOTH SOLD!!!*** Now, something a bit different - and I'd watched in horror as the other lad rummaged through the box like he was mixing cement, hoping that he wouldn't snaffle these. Thankfully he didn't, so I did. It's a pair of Matchbox Glo-Racers, which were an odd short-lived range produced for Lesney by Universal Toys in Hong Kong, based on the Powertrack slot cars. After the Powertrack range was discontinued in 1982, the moulded bodies were paired with diecast bases to make a range of non-powered toy cars, with their gimmick being that the bodies would glow in the dark. The BMW 3.0 CSL is based on the PT105 Powertrack car, and here called 'Light Beamer' (geddit?) The Triumph TR7 is known as 'Quicksilver' and based on the PT111 Powertrack car. Other than some toybox wear to the tampo print and a spot of damage to the B-pillar on the CSL, these are in pretty good shape. 50p each, if you fancy them! ***BOTH SOLD!!!*** Older stuff, now: A Superfast No.38 Formula 5000, lacking a sticker on the front nosecone but otherwise pretty clean - too nice to be scratched to death in the tat box, anyway. Also a No.52 B.R.M. - missing its driver and one tyre, but otherwise complete and with no damage to the casting. 50p each on these too. Moving forward in time, a pair of late-2000s castings of 1970s vehicles: That's a 1975 Chevy Stepside and a Dodge Monaco police car of a similar era. Both showing a fair bit of toybox wear, I'm afraid - custom projects? Also 50p a throw. ***BOTH SOLD!!!*** Lastly for Matchbox, then: A Ford Expedition from the late 90s, and a VW Beetle 4x4 marked (c) 2006 - not perfect, but could be of interest to some here? Datsuncog Posted August 28, 2020 Share Posted August 28, 2020 First up, the Krazee stuff: An Adam West TV era Batmobile; a Tow Jam wrecker with the hook still intact, and the Bunglebus-requested Fast Fortress. Batmobile and Tow Jam available at 50p each (but not the B52 on wheels, which has already been bagsied). Some semi-wacky racers, now: That's an At-A-Tude (Studebaker Golden Hawk funny car); a Vairy 8 (Chevrolet Corvair coupé); **SOLD!!** And then a more sober Ford Fusion police car, ready to nick the drivers if they start any hi-jinks on the public highway. All in pretty good shape, and 50p on each of them. Some good ol' 70s muscle, now: I do like the '70 Chevrolet Chevelle SS casting, and I used to have quite a few of these back in my Hot Wheels days. The gold '74 Dodge Charger is quite restrained by Hot Wheels standards, with no big wheels or opening features. The '71 Dodge Demon simply isn't one I'd ever noticed before, and is nicely rendered with no needless fuss. There's a bit of toybox wear on these, but could be of some use at 50p each? Lastly, I think this one may be of some interest, perhaps to resident beach buggy fan @bunglebus? ***SOLD!!!*** Ok, it's got whitewalls but it seems to be a blackwalls era car from the early 1980s, and made in France to boot. I gather this should have a flame tampo print at the front, which seems to have rubbed off - but other than a ding to the rear wing, the paint's pretty good. Datsuncog Posted August 28, 2020 Share Posted August 28, 2020 Last lot for today, then: Majorette, from across the years: firstly a 1990s Ford Transit Tug (unusual rendering of a genuine Ford concept vehicle) Also, a 2000s Volvo XC90, with bonnet opening to reveal a peculiar see-through plastic engine (yet printed-on headlights) And lastly a Renault 18 (decommissioned) taxi, which is a bit shabby but, as you'll all know, I'm a sucker for basket-case Renners. All up for grabs at 50p each! Next, some odds and sods: I thought the Audi was by Matchbox, but it's not - although MC Toy (the old name for Maisto) seem to have been heavily 'inspired' by Matchbox, mind. I must do a quick comparison later... Also, a no-name (Welly, maybe?) No. 6017 Mini Cooper, with some bumper damage to the front. Proportions reasonably good, mind. And then a Chrysler PT Panel Cruiser, of all things, again with no maker's name shown. All a touch shabby, but still rather charming all the same. 50p each, if they tickle you too. And, at the last gasp, these: A Siku Scania, which I'll pair with the yellow low-loader trailer picked up a few weeks back to create a complete rig. The no-name Mercedes 208D TV van seems to draw heavily on the Matchbox van of a very similar design - again, a little side-by-side might be in order. And then another no-name Toyota (based on the H10 HiAce?) , which probably had a set of aircraft loading ladders on it at one point - but now could be used as a chassis for anything you fancy (this one screws together, for maximum convenience). Phew! Not maybe a week to go down in tat-history, but not too bad anyway. If there's anything here that you'd like to have set aside for you, just let me know... Obviously, a box of cheap Rockets would have been the icing on the cake - but not this week. Still! Just goes to show, there's still interesting stuff out there... Til next week, kids!!
