There's a certain charm to this, the wheels are acceptable slotmag renditions and the panel gaps are satisfyingly haphazard. A pity the aerial is awol, but you can't have everything. Did this come as part of a set? The towbar made me wonder, I did have a rummage through the box but no trailer or anything like that in there.

I have the police version of that somewhere, will dig it out for a pic when I'm back in Essex...

Colour is Ford Bermuda Blue, as I believe usually seen on Escort Mk2 and Cortina Mk4.

Now I'm home so we can have a look at the rest while dinner is cooking.. I was trying to exercise some restraint today, believe it or not. And like last week time was pressing, hence no live report from the field. But once the above were secured a few other things came into my "too nice to leave behind for the price" category. Firstly this, I've seen it before but didn't appreciate how clean it is until today. Must surely have been boxed until recently to have survived this well. Two quid seemed reasonable, happy to put it aside if someone fancies it.

@Amishtat is the glass tinted on this? I'm sure mine are all clear windows.

I'd call it a Thames, but according to Dinky it's an Atlas Copco.. It's been trodden on it seems, there's quite a pronounced bow to the baseplate, the side glass is cracked and it runs second to the Doctor's Caddy ambulance in the filth stakes. Nonetheless, at a quid I wasn't leaving it behind. Three Corgi tyres too, now I've looked at it properly.

Atlas too please

I knew it wasn’t a Corgi Commer - been wondering since the furtive bag photo!

The baseplate model name is possibly down to an agreement with Atlas to allow a model reproduction.  Perhaps they supplied the compressor vehicles as completed units.  I suppose not unlike Tandberg who used Unimog platforms- but badged as their own

And lastly (for this week anyway) these two. The Alpine is about as rough as it could be but for whatever reason I almost never come across Spot-on stuff during my weekly tat bothering so for a quid it was worth taking home out of morbid curiosity and a strangely satisfied feel which has mostly evaporated overnight, as these things sometimes do.

The Chevrolet is the donor for the middle slice so I can finally reassemble the taxi from Datsuncog which has only been sitting for two years.. I got a new one from Steve Flowers but it just wouldn't quite fit, whilst getting annoyed with that I chipped the fresh paint and so the whole thing got canned in a huff. All the others I've found since have either been missing bits of the grille and headlights or too good to break up so it's nice to have one intact but yellowing, and in a form I won't feel guilty for splitting up. The wheels might be useful for the Suburban too, now I think about it.

That Spot On is still a bargain.

I've been rummaging un the loft so here's a few impromptu HWDIBs.

First up, Corgi, Dinky and Majorette Range Rovers. The Dinky is far and away the best, only let down by a flat slab of a dashboard and that the bonnet and upper tailgate don't stay raised.

Next up, Corgi and Dinky SD1s. The Corgi is obviously better but fair play to Dinky for having a good stab at the dash and a set of wheels close to the real thing. Not sure the tailgate is meant to go up that far though.

Lastly I grouped all my Mazda pickups together, think there's at least one I don't have but I didn't really set out to collect them all in the first place, I just had a tatty jumble sale pair as I kid that I thought were cool. You can see on a couple where the hole for the cherry picker was filled, I really like how Corgi fitted the camper body without modifying the casting,  it locks into the gun rack and towbar holes - clever stuff.

Did The Hulk just clip home as well then?

I have no idea, he was AWOL when I got the truck. Doesn't look any different to the others apart from the wheels.

I dug out some more for WDIBs, here are SD1s, here represented by Corgi, Matchbox and the awful no name one. Much as the Matchbox feels nicer and has sharper detail, I think Corgi captured the shape and stance better. I still prefer the standard Matchbox though

First up, quite a reasonable Corgi Land Rover in need of a couple of tyres. Another which fell into the nice enough for two quid end of the market.

Would be most interested in this one, if not already claimed...

Is it just the Dinky Land Rover and boxed Matchbox Dinky Porsche 356 I have on layaway with you - or are there more that've slipped my mind already?
