Sorry, I just don’t get the love for Sikus. Their Granada estate has to be a contender for the “ Don’t know what it’s supposed to be until I read the baseplate award “ That green Passat is not much better, in fact apart from commercials , I think mostSikus never look “right”. A lot is the oversized wheels but of the few posted up here all have something  that spoils the likeness. 300SL - door window too small, Passat - arches of comedic proportions, Rancho - best of a bad lot but still not right, same as the Range Rover.  The Type 2 is great, but then it’s a commercial.

Maybe being brought up with Matchbox and Corgi Juniors spoilt me.

They are ostensibly toys though and at this scale it's not always about accuracy. I agree though, they dropped the ball on some castings, notably the Granada. I think this situation kind of worsened into the 1990s for some.

The VW LT, Type 2 double cab and most of the trucks are lovely though.

I've had a few arrivals/finds;

One of the later Dinkys, made in England but plastic base. Don't recall seeing the wheels before

A while ago I bought a Zylmex Electra;

Which is of course a DeTomasa Mangusta. I spotted this Dinky one;

It came with another, earlier one which has much nicer wheels, so I may make a hybrid if I can find tyres

Being somewhat jealous of the Doctor's Cadillac ambulance, I grabbed this one very cheaply - think they put it as BIN when it should have been the starting price. As mentioned last week, bits are available to fix it.

Talking of spares, I've never bought reproduction parts for my cars but I took a chance with a pair of number plates for the Zodiac, and they're great. Got the Saint decal for the Corgi Rockets P1800 I restored a while back too

Lastly, my favourite charity shop re-opened, there were quite a few MC Toys pull back cars, but only one thing came home with me. Remember the comedy MC Toys Escort cabrio with the colour-coded roof?

Well I'd been half-heartedly looking for the even funnier police version with the lights on the soft-top;

However I got a surprise when I looked underneath;

I knew MC used old Corgi castings but didn't realise this was one. black windows, lights on the roof and long rear suspension travel make me think there are some electronics hiding inside, further investigation required...

Today has been a 'get electric stuff working' kind of day.

Yay!

Funny you should post this today, as in my hand right now I have this gutted example picked up from Sunday's boot sale.  A fella was selling a number of his childhood toys, most dismantled over the years such as this one, with parts of them missing (at the moment, he'll seek them out and be back in fortnight, he said).

20200709_141739215_iOS.thumb.jpg.0d01eabd511013c9a359643acf80f359.jpg

Gave a couple of quid for this as it seemed straight enough to do something with....   Looking it up, Mr Flowers does the glass and headlights, but not the tail lights or interior.

So, If those spares are out there please someone let me know asap, as this is an obvious choice for motorising into a slot car (or take a mould from), rather than cut about a complete example.  I do have a brake light circuit with flat LEDs spare too, which could be coaxed into the empty and flat tail light openings.

This Dinky Mercedes 250 SE  [W108] works out to be approx 1:42

Hotwheels at Lidl from next Thursday,according to the leaflet.

They had some back in February.  But they were last year's range.  Perhaps they bought some boxes of surplus stock, I thought at the time

I'm also seeing the Opel Senator grille unit, Kojak Buick taillights, and I think the lone red seatback might be MGB/C GT?  Might be some more bits of Buick too, such as dash and rear bumper...

Meanwhile, have some photos.  My C3 parked with my current Volvo.

They are, of course, part of the "Cars I've owned" sub-collection.  The colours are not strictly accurate, but good enough.

Yes Senator; yes Buick Regal; no it seems the MGB are like the pattern below :

^ yes that is your old one 1448533856-Tip001-jpg-cbf1409c9386c56ebf as it is currently.  Just need a door, tailgate glass and grille.

I thought it might be from the Corgi Herald Coupe or Elan, but no.

Dash is correct and great I can put that in the correct bag now! ?

Bumper isn't though, and it doesn't match Caprice or Gran Torino either...

That PINK has etched on me since childhood.  Why, oh why, did they do that...?  I'm sure it used to make me twitch and be girliephobic

Wasn't until recently that when gifted an old box of brokens and spares, an odd boot lid was in there and the pink paint gave it way....

Funny how things work out....

Here is the offending boot lid, also found in same tin was the matching front bumper.

...and boot sale Sunday blokey had this as well.  And guess what - it's missing bootlid and bumper !

I can't quite remember what I paid for it, but I just had to have it to make the PINK BOOTLID live on
