AndyW201
On Sunday, I had a bit of a sort out while in the loft. I'd got hold of a big plastic box and thought I'd box up the Hot Wheels I'd acquired so far. It was after I'd sorted through and grouped them up, I realised I may have a problem... I'm certainly no completionist, I just buy whatever I fancy, but it turns out I have quite a few versions of certain models. Lots of raised eyebrows from the Mrs... This is the one that kicked my interest back off. I had quite a few HW as a kid after my local toy shop started selling them alongside the usual MB superfast and Corgi Juniors in the '80s. But this Celica was on a clipstrip in Tesco back about 2010 and thought it looked a nice version, not too overdone. My adult HW habit had started! These are some more from a while back. Again, I like these as although they are quite lairy colour wise, they are quite authentic with factory graphics and not over-wheeles like a lot of HW stuff. One of my faves, I think these were discussed on here not long back. I was fairly sure I had one... It was the launch of the MK1 Escort casting that got me collecting them seriously again. Sainsbury's had a 2 for 1 sale at the time and I almost filled a basket!. Sadly the white-with-blue stripes Escort I got then is now uncarded and in 201_Jr's 'opened' collection. Now searching for a good carded example... From RS's old to new. I make no secret of my love for the Kenmari Skyline. The green one was another earlier purchase. I thought I'd missed out on the red police design one. Hot Wheels really didn't help things when they brought out the Then and Now versions where I now had two models of a type to hunt down... I like the 510 too, as can be seen, the odd modern Matchbox can slip into the collection! I like the authentic looking rally livery on the top example. Currently on the lookout for the MOMO wagon to go with the saloon. Fairladys ( or Fairladies?) old, Not so old. I do like the yellow and blue Nismo striped ones. Same but different! Love the red one. Ive also got the white, red and police style 300 ZXs too, but CBA with photos by the time I got them out...) A few Skylines. The red R30 in standard trim is one of my all time favourites And the Skylines' descendants. That's it for the Datsuns. There are also a few 180SXs too, thought I'd photographed those! AndyW201
Mazdas next! The MK1 MX5 is another favourite recent casting and proof that HW can really do nice factory-ish style cars lately. Saying that, I really like the later Matchbox one as well. RX7s old.. ...and newer. Another Then and Now duo at the top. Moar pick ups! These little beasties aren't everybody's cuppa, but I like them. I do like the Civic EF casting, another Then and Now at the bottom with the Type R. There are a couple of the Bisimoto-liveried Type Rs and a couple of the new 2018 Type Rs too, not pictured. Hmm, more of these than I thought too. The two standard looking ones at the bottom are my favourites. That's it for the JDM Yo! selection, apart from a couple of Scooby's, the BRAT, a F&F style late Impreza and the Matchbox SVX. Sorry, but German content incoming... Got this lot really for the 2002, E30 and E90, but they were all at Morrisons at a knock down price at the time. I do like the CSL casting, which is why I ended up with a few. I like the E36 as well, not a casting you see much of. The rest of the M squad. Somewhere there is a white with M stripes M2 as well. I have a feeling it's in the glovebox of the car... Anyone for Golf? The MB Countrys really are something else! Note Then and Now orange MK2 and Mk7. The Mk7 casting is a nice one, they really need to do the Factory Fresh treatment on that. And some pineapple transportation devices? (Don't shoot me but I do quite like the ratty T1s...) Realised I also forgot to get pics of the Porsches, including the Then and Now white 930 turbo and GT3, the purple GT3 and 944 Turbo. Also disappointing for a Merc fanboy like myself is that Hot Wheels haven't really bothered their arses with Mercs like they have with other marques, so there are only a couple of AMG GTs, the new style A Class and my most prized HW so far, the 190e 2.5 Evo2 with Real Rider wheels representing the marque Two of my favourite Matchboxes, proving they can do a much better job with some models than Hot Wheels. AndyW201
Last instalment, honest! Sadly by now, it was getting late, and the need to get shit loads of toy cars boxed up and back into the loft was now pressing. So the American Fords failed to get pictured. Surprisingly there weren't that many. A few standard modern Shelby Mustangs (they do a pretty good job of the 2017 Shelby), a couple of earlier GT350s, a Fox Body Mustang, a couple of Torinos and a few '60s style Cougars represent the Ford's. A few Chevys got papped though... I love that '70 Chevelle casting A couple of 'different' takes on the Bel-Air And the Rod Squad! Somehow the grey Jerry Rigged wagon avoided getting pictured. Thanks to Poundland and Home Bargains, I also managed to pick up a few modern Majorette releases at knock down prices. I don't think I paid more than a quid for them, even the premium ones, I like these releases as a lot of them are just ordinary, everyday stuff, even future autoshite in a few cases. I was super chuffed to get the lime green C4 Cactus, then to find the C3 version. The Citroen Nemo is a cute thing and I like the Giulietta and Adam. The early Merc A Class compares well with the later Hot Wheels version. The 'premium' selection. The G Wagen isn't strictly my bag, but it's an impressive chunk of toy for the money. So that's it for the mini-shite selection. I'm.sure there are a few more. No doubt about it, it's easy to get hooked on these little b'stards. At least with the lockdown, I'm not out shopping as much, so little shite purchases have been curtailed a little... AndyW201
From pissing about with small scale, to a small repair job on one of the big buggers. The Sun Star Escort has been looking a bit sad lately. Its suffered a bit from the dreaded Sun Star zinc pest which led to the bonnet seizing, then snapping clean in half. I have seen someone on one of the FB diecast site have the same thing happen, and he managed to superglue, fill and paint his, but as luck would have it, I found someone on eBay with a few Escort spares, so I nabbed the bonnet. A bit of lube on the hinge to get it moving freely, then the bonnet was attached to it. Then a dab of superglue on the broken, hilariously-out-of-scale door mirror, and the old 'Scort looks decent again, Check out the interior! Not sure Ford would have specified blue seats and red carpets (actual carpets in this one too, and carpet in the boot!), but it looks good. Even a little Ghia badge on the wooden dash. That Sunstar Escort is awesome, RHD too. Bet it was a few pennies when it was new. AndyW201

bunglebus
The collection looks pretty similar to how mine was, then I decided to get rid of all the modern cars. There's still a LOT of cars in boxes, I might have another sort out when the weather's not so nice as it is getting a bit out of hand.

It wasn't too bad when I got it, way back when. They had just come out, so were about £25 a throw new. Prices have gone pretty stratospheric now for them, though. I got the Ghia as a Christmas present, along with the 1600 Sports in white and red. That was a good Christmas! The red 1600 Sport has survived pretty well, but needs mirrors. The white one hasn't been so lucky, they used to live on a shelf, and the white one took a tumble one day. So its missing mirrors, a couple of bumper corners and one of the front hub assemblies is superglued on. Won't part with them though! flat4alfa
Any love for gen-3 Chevrolet Monte Carlos? Afraid so back here, not least since Denzel Washinton smoked one about in Training Day (20 years ago!) and a tad more recently the Jesse Pinkman car in Breaking Bad Hot Wheels did an open roof low-rider and a later daft 'hi-rider', both under the model name Montezoomer. The snazzy paint job yellow one is a re-release and my favourite of the lot. The stupid wheels black one wants sending off to be rebuilt as the 'camouflage range' paint job is nothing special and looks more hick than hot. Apart from that, I think best to remove the daft undercarriage completely while at it, as it looks more back-ache than bitchin' DoctorRetro
