Sunny Truck kit is progressing well:

It had its final coat of paint last night and is now drying out in the airing cupboard. Fixing the 10 tiny little loadbay hooks was a challenge, on two occasions I nearly lost one of them. I'm also making up some odds and ends to go in the back, hence the Honda Tact scooter, tool box and fuel cans from other kits.

Went to big Tesco yesterday, first time since all this pandemic started.  What a waste of time...  Full of all last years Matchbox stock!  Just one of the new range and that was a lonesome Mk1 Golf.   Hot Wheels were all old stock too, none of the 2020 range.

So went to Poundland.  Only a handful on the shelf but at least were new stock.  Bought the 32 Ford hot rod.

Went to B&M.  Same again, no new stock for months.

I think I live in a minature-shite-deprived area!  Why the stock is so different across the country I don't understand.  I might have to move to Ipswich I think.

In the meantime I will continue to get my stock from our Carrickfergus roving tat correspondent

Might have imagined this but didn’t they do a ‘For your Eyes Only’ Corgi Juniors gift set but because there was no Cortina in the range they had to improvise?

You are correct.  They improvised with their existing casting of the Merc 240D.

The 928 should go well with your Welly one ^

I've had some new arrivals, for some reason MK2 Golfs aren't common die cast fodder

Ooh, that's a Corgi item - from the Riviera gift set:

I think the light blue version was exclusive to the gift pack (along with the huuuuge plastic towbar) - if you still have it, then all you need is the boat, now...

One of my earliest memories from the mid 70's is having the bazooka and the cambuster. Now long gone.

Ah well, I was going to tease about that, but thought better of it.  But now you've mentioned it...  there were two Dinky Dragsters to collect - there I said it ?  - so I look forward to the auction countdown spectacle! ?

..... what we need to keep in mind after the Dinkies is: it is not quite over...    so I'll leave with these code words (shhhhhh) ........Guisval. Escorpion. Mustang. Crazy. Horse.     ARGGGHHHH

You won't find any on there or on ebay.es as I have that covered ! ?

You'd be better off sifting through todocoleccion.net

Word of warning about Guisval before you go blind bidding:   Guisval 'Escorpión' range is 1/36 while Guisval 'Campeon' is 1/64.    Mustang II was released in both.

I found out DOT4 brake fluid has Borate Ester in it while DOT3 doesn't - possibly what ruined my window section so I'll find some DOT3

It did occur to me since you mentioned, that the City Bus windows had been painted over.  It might have been a reaction to the paint and was already damaged before it was dipped.

Been messing around today.

Needed new wheels for the BX.

So a three way exchange came about

This weird thing died (it was overdue) to donate its wheels...

IMG_20200529_151453.thumb.jpg.9a0885f7bc41467c1a504ec89c843ddb.jpg

... To this (Lada 112)

IMG_20200529_151358.thumb.jpg.7c86af4e2ce800db4b518639f0514242.jpg

Which in turn donated its wheels to the BX

I think they work quite well. The reason I'm not using the original ones is because the wheels have gone funny and won't sit straight.

Meant to say, as and when the tat stalls reappear, I'll gladly keep an eye out for more Novacar stuff if you like - they're fairly common in NI, as the Toymaster chain got hold of a sizable number of them in the early 90s and were banging them out at 49p a pop. I've seen quite a few crop up in the tat boxes/charity stall, but didn't think anyone here was collecting them. They usually look in fairly good nick, as the unusual plastic body/diecast base construction means they can't get chipped...

I had a fair few of them at one point - that Caprice patrol car included - but I think they went to Bramz7 a few years back, in the general clear-out.

20180425_222627.thumb.jpg.aca199431665c9334d9a7990a3b69f48.jpg

From the pic:

  • Mercedes SL (R129-series) in silver
  • Renault Espace Mk3, Ambulance
  • Nissan Terrano, rallye
  • Generic Formula 1-style car
  • Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol
  • Nissan 300ZX, racing

I also had a Peugeot 605 by Novacar, though sold that on a while before to a Peugeot nut on the AS Facebook group.

Novacar_Peugeot_605.jpg.e4a05e40e0df3dfb08ed956de29f83e4.jpg

(Can't find a pic of my exact model, but it looked like this)

I understand that the Portuguese maker Novacar were effectively a Majorette subsiduary around this time - having been bought out by them in the late 80s.

https://majorette-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Novacar

To that end, I'd certainly be interested in a comparison of that Novacar Caprice with Majorette's own offering, as I always wondered if it was a straight copy...

^^^ You may also recognise some of the other items from that tat box which have recently been re-homed on these fair pages, as part of the endless tat merry-go-round... good to see they're still circulating.

Oh, and you may have other plans for this one, but I happen to have a spare bonnet for one of these (found in the school playground c.1988).

It's off an earlier green version and the hinges are snapped off, but I'll throw it in with your next tat delivery if you reckon it might be any use to you...
