Shite in Miniature II

Finally got this painted - think this is attempt #4. This is only the second car I've painted with my airbrush, custom mixed the colour. Struggled to see where the paint was going on for some reason so I had to sand the roof back, though I might as well do it silver after that.

The wheels were off Ali Express (seen them on eBay too), they're really nice and are separate rim, centre, tyre and disc/caliper that is designed so the caliper stays still. Well impressed as you can paint the centre before assembly.

Your dictators’ limousines are our concern.

Dinky Mercedes 600 Pullman

Got three of these now due to the eBay job-lot trigger-finger.  Decided to keep the best intact and transfer missing headlight and passengers

So, the others taken apart to make the best of the spares. Thinking to paint one in Jezza Clarkson’s green?

Wow! Local Morrisons are on top of their Hot Wheels game at the moment,

Check out this wacky little funster,

Nice recolour for the gasser wagon,

I think this an old-as-the-hills casting, but I've not seen a Cobra in the line up for years so this is a welcome release. A nice, fairly tasteful job they've done too.

Another outing for the Datty pick up. Nice matt paint job, and still love these steelies,

And a couple of modern Germans. Not everyone's cuppa but I think the new Merc A Class looks nice in red,

And this seems to be one of the sought-after ones on the HW sites,

To be honest there were a few more there I would have had, but the 'nip in for bread and milk' shop was starting to get expensive...

There seem to be three.  L-R I think they are: Ferrari Testarossa, Escort mk3 cabrio and BMW M3, although these are just educated guesses.

I had some of the Super Racers as a kid, including the same Escort and BMW M3 E30. I sold the Escort on AS last year. It was suppose to be a MK4 looking at the front. An has opening doors and boot too.

They also did a crap MK1 Golf convertible that had MK2 rear lights. Which they did with the roof up or down.

They were about 1:43ish scale with a pull back motor. An I usually found them in either bargain type shops or holiday tat shops.

Isn't that the Dinky version? My Corgi one doesn't have opening doors.

To clear it up, a photo shoot was shot to compare ?

In the LEFT corner:  The CORGI Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman.  Has a switchable 'roll-along' mechanism that activates the screen wipers.  Decal (looks factory yet never seen another) I managed to translate ЦДПДЕВЦЫ to 'Chairman' - but is upside-down on both sides!

In the RIGHT corner:  The DINKY Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman.  Has opening bonnet; doors front and rear; boot lid.  This example seems to have had decals from a BAC Lightning applied, I think?

Not only that, Excel was given a fire-up to help calculate the scales:

I've been pondering getting one of those limos, I'll see how yours looks. I do have the frankly terrible Majorette Mercedes limo as a bit of a back burner project too

I was quite pleased to find my old Citroen 2CV is now my nephew’s current favourite toy car.

He’s possibly not seen a real one.

It’s a corgi iirc, I remember buying along with a Rover SD1 & a Triumph TR7,  all in the same shade of yellow.

I was useful for recreating the chase early in For Your Eyes Only.

Did you put a battery in it to test the flashing indicators yet?

They are a great model.

I picked one up for £5.00 A few years ago, nowhere near as nice as that one though.

Don't suppose you (or anybody else) would be able to point me in the right direction of the right size / shape of replacement tyre for this?

Mine has a tyre missing but is otherwise near mint. I've seen loads and loads of sets of Dinky tyres on eBay, but would hate to end up buying something slightly and annoyingly wrong.

When I needed some I just messaged a seller on eBay who had various sizes and asked which I needed

Thanks DC! Great to see my old skip back on a D-Series in its original colour and with the arms intact (mine was brush-painted green and lost its arms many years ago). Tha Land Rover and Jaguar also replace examples I'd had as a youngster.
