junkyarddog
Picked these up a while back. The Iso Grifo was missing it's doors, but as luck would have it,I had a wreck from a job lot that still had them! Looks smart now Smoll Eddy? "Very flashy M8 " Next was the Dodge Challenger, not one of Matchbox's best, but still quite nice. Seeing as I had the red out already.... Painted the base on this one,and added some chrome wheels with rubber tyres too. What ya think Smoll Eddy? There have been many international rules set from the late 1970s onwards. One significant turning point was the strict 1992 US Federal Congress act on tobacco advertising. If a toy/model manufacturer released an identifiable tobacco livery, then it was an offence in the US to allow an under 18 into the shop. Hornby and others got around the earlier UK legislation by for example labelling a Scalextric Ducati Marlboro rather than the other way around. Also the use of Lotus JPS could also continue due to John Player tobacco being a brand that wasn't available in the UK. At least that's my understanding of it. Notice that for 1995 WRC the 555 lettering was present, see photo below. L555 BAT Chassis #93.003 survives (the very car your model is of) but since British American Tobacco dropped Subaru/Prodrive sponsorship in 1998 the 555 lettering had to be removed so the car could be seen in public at any publicity or privateer event. So the model is correct / incorrect depending on point of view. [Taken at 1995 WRC Cataluyna stages] I think I bored myself there, sorry. TL;DNR - Getting the Rothmans and State Express 555 decals would dress them up better I agree! Sudsprint and eddyramrod

AndyW201
I've got that Polistil 928 somewhere, though not with those wheels, just a set of the generic Ferrari style 5 spokes Polistil used at the time, it does look weird with skinny rear wheels! From memory it was 1/24 scale or thereabouts. flat4alfa

AndyW201
Had a small delivery today. Sadly the last diecast purchase for a while probably, because Covid... Still, first up, There have been a few Audi's modelled lately by Hot Wheels and Matchbox in this nice metallic blue colour. I've already got the RS6 Avants by both makers, and the red RS5 and RS6 by Hot Wheels, so this is a nice addition. Again, nice tampo printing front and rear for the size on this one. Next, one I've been trying to find for a while now, with no luck, Nice colour, and they seem to have captured the XE shape well. Could live without that rear wing though... Again, nice Tampos front and rear, including those wacky air intakes, The seller threw in a freebie Copo Camaro too. Young 'un has already claimed this... Liking the wheelie bars and 'chute on the back! But, the one I had really been waiting for, Some 44 years after the first, we have a new Matchbox MK1 Golf, a 3door GTi this time. Seeing it in photos, I wasn't keen on the graphics. However, looking at it closely, the stripes incorporate a rabbit in them, along with a 'Rabbit' logo on the wings, so I don't know if the graphics were kind of a period accessory package, Even the Matchbox hubcap wheels don't look too bad painted this way, they sort-of have a look of period Ronal Turbo wheels or similar IMO. Again, nice detailing of the GTi front, including the chin spoiler, shame about the back end though, it's as if they couldn't be arsed at that point! Good effort though, just hope we get one in standard trim in Mars red or Lhasa green later. Skizzer, warch, egg and 3 others

Yes, quite likely influenced by graphics of the time, especially aftermarket VW Golf was marketed as the VW Rabbit in North America But I'm sure you knew that AndyW201
