Coupla quid indeed - £2 secured this one from one of the Giffer Stalls, to my surprise.

Nicely proportioned, despite its evident crude construction. Will set that aside for you!

And also this Chevrolet Astro, a long-term Tat Box inmate - any interest to our Yatming fans in the house?

20200228_092505.thumb.jpg.d32dea5947c7977b0fb3c24f6ca8ddcc.jpg

Thanks - and stick the Yat Ming aside if it's not been claimed, I need a test subject for some special paint, that's got the curves to show it off.

Tat man needs to up his game! I thought this time of year lots of people would be having a clear out and flooding the market - maybe the weather is a factor?

Well, jolly quiet over at the market this lunchtime, with a few traders already packing up their stalls just after 12.

I could quite fancy the VanHool coach at £4 and also the little green Leyland National as long as it’s not too much? Also the green decker behind the National?

Good news...

Even better news - possibly in an effort to secure some sales on a fairly lacklustre day, the buses were all down to £2 each.

Elate.jpg.96a548d5ffba7c6106d7a8cea6770ab6.jpg

So they're all yours for £6 plus postage of choice.

The news may be screaming about the impending twin Armageddons of Coronavirus and Storm Jorge, but it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good...

Bloody hell!!

No wonder it's still there,

£2-3 is plenty for a playworn example.

The TK tipper had gone by the time I got over - so I will assume he dropped his price somewhat. I'd have thought that two or three quid would be about right.

But I did waver on the hearing that the festive version of this Commer KC40 Walk-Thru was also £2 - half price on last week.

I'm not that fussed on the gothic script or Oxford logo on the side, but I'm hoping that a judiciously applied dab of acetone will remove that later.

20200228_141520.thumb.jpg.557e8cf34f69d9ec640e6d14fff8bda2.jpg

I also nabbed this for a mere £2...

Vanguards VA07501, a 1/43 Morris LC5 van in Royal Mail livery.

I don't really need it - but it's jolly nice all the same, in perfect nick and it seemed a pity to leave it. It's a massively heavy, all-diecast bit of kit.

20200228_141622.thumb.jpg.dfaa4a522d4fa7c6403c085a27356688.jpg

Should anyone want to claim it for purchase price, happy to set it aside for you...

Sure thing! Will add the Astro in with your other bits and bobs. Look forward to seeing how this one turns out!

Yeah, I'd thought maybe there would be some more new stuff arriving by this time, but it's indeed possible that the cold and the wind has dissuaded folk from rummaging through their garages and lofts for a while yet... fingers crossed that when the daffodils start to appear, so will the tat...

At least Mr Blobby looks to have a had a good one!

Heh, yes... I really ought to have moved that vinyl tribute to everyone's favourite terrifying oversized sentient dildo before taking the pic...

...on the plus side, maybe someday one of these will show up on the stall?

Graaaaah!

I'd half-thought about heading over to the Smithfield model shop to see if they still had their Matchbox Dinky Land Rover S1, but instead I ended up blowing a tenner on a load of 1990s CDs - the stuff the cool kids at school were all listening to back when I was still spinning my ABBA LPs - which I'll probably enjoy for a few months in the Subaru before moving them on via Discogs, since they're all pretty much mint.

So there we go.

More tat market larks next week, with any luck!

And there should be a few people due to find a tat box landing in on them either today or tomorrow - with the Flat4Alfa box due for dispatch shortly, now that I've procured a suitable container to send them all...

Interesting fact: there are actually 80 na’s in the very famous Batman song from the 1966 TV series.

Anyhow, I like the KAPOW! recent HW variations.  So got them and BAM!  plopped the old Husky example next to them for a POW! photo

I have every intent to steal that expression. Pretty sure I'll find a moment to deploy it.

Those little N gauge buses look delightful. Don't need, won't request, but I very much approve.

First dabs please on your premium 2002 that will be travelling the globe

Apologies for 1.) Delay (I picked this up Tuesday) 2.) shitey sideways photo 3.) Not very good detailing of said 2002 but this was my attempt on Tuesday to broadcast the great news live but I couldn't fathom a way to do so on my phone without linking to a gigantic image. Anyway, you'll note that I also partook in the 4 standard models for £5 deal currently on, so hopefully these 944 Turbos are still a difficult thing to acquire, or I'll be lumbered with a few! I did also trudge round a few more stores that day on my leisurely journey up the country that day and didn't encounter any more of those Hotwheels Premiums, so it seems like that was somehow a lucky find. Anyway, dibs away @flat4alfa but please do remind me when I put up a pre-travel post in a couple of months.

In further news, I decided to take photos of some other stuff that may be of potential interest:

49580605233_33a3d053dc_b.jpg

Here's the Porsche 911 I mentioned previously - I quite like the stripes but the rest isn't really of interest to me. I think I prefer the metallic green Superfast ones that were in my toy box (no idea why there were 2 of them).

49580603788_2844ace541_b.jpg

This '32 Ford may well appeal to someone but like the Porsche above, I'm just not sure I could justify spending £4.50 on either of these, tbh. Happy to buy on behalf of others though.

And then once again, I went on another 4 for £5 buying spree, avoiding yet more Volvo 850s and Porsche 944s, instead choosing these:

49597348432_832762d08d_b.jpg

Finding the Escort was the motivator, as I thought it'd garner some interest. Then I found a couple of other interesting picks from the same 'Baja Blazers' line - sadly I couldn't find the Subaru Brat, else I'd defo have picked that one up. I'll admit that I'm actually quite taken by the Jerry Rigged Nova wagon gasser myself, though these are all available for UK despatch in May, should anyone want to dibs. I do gain pleasure in finding stuff on others' behalves and I reckon I'd also entertain interesting swaps just as much as cold hard cash.

Remember this?

IMG_20200228_213904_662.thumb.jpg.58cb629e694724ddc1ffb154a53b04f0.jpg

It arrived today from NI so I poured myself a Tamnavulin and wasted no time.

20200228_201119.thumb.jpg.f09589c4b46ad6408cc55d0ed4f0dd81.jpg

Always a funny hidden somewhere in or around DC's parcels!

20200228_200920.thumb.jpg.85c8c6cdd800a2b89488bb22ed4b30c8.jpg

Firstly, dug out my Revell Golf MK1 kit. My memory is failing though, it was a spare dashboard that was there and not a grille. BUNGLETRUMPETS.

Salvaged something that would be a good shape for the front bumper, a pair of indicators and a wiper.

As such can anyone guess what I made the front grille from? No?

Its a really deep recess and there isnt much to stick things to behind where the grille should sit. So I needed something thick to fill the gap but that would then be nearly impossible to cut.

I rummaged through long- dormant craft boxes, tool boxes, even the messy cupboard but to no avail.

Then I remembered I had a roll of gaffa tape. I folded a thick strip which was malleable and easy to cut but had the right satin finish to give the appearance of a grille. Some foam tape was used behind to make 2 risers to make the grille sit correctly.

A quick Google revealed that, as DC alluded to earlier, this was probably a Polo however in the absence of any markings on the back or base, the gift was mine to choose to make it an Audi 50. Mainly because the badge was easier to draw! I marked out the trim and lights with my trusty silver pen.

I attached the bumper, indicators and replaced the missing wiper and overall it hasnt turned out too bad at all.

Very pleased at having this hard to find Polistil model with my others. Cheers DC!

Yes, Polistil released both in 1/25, but not in 1:43 which was just the Polo

Not only that, both in 1/25 had the same door fit of Friday-car that missed the QA queue...!

The Audi 50L was in two Gerstmann Motorsport colour schemes

The Polo was in plain schemes including the silver

Remember this that I asked @Datsuncog to retrieve from the Tat Box? A no-name (but actually by Automaxx) 1/72 MAN lorry that should have had a scissor lift on the back but it had been broken off.

MAN.thumb.jpg.4eb2b08c734d677790719b4f004fec7a.jpg

I attacked it with a Dremel and now it looks like this. An ERF showman's special with a resin cab, shortened body (conveniently cutting out the broken bit) and generator in the back. Still a lot of work to do but you get the idea.

Just been to my first model toy and train fair in years and years with my dad, rekindled my interest in models again, and my dad really loved it too, could be our new hobby as we are getting tired of the vintage bike world and also it's expense! My dad got loads of early small matchbox models, mostly from the 50p boxes, I got a dinky police accident transit with cones and signs,a model I've wanted for years due to its chunky nature, and also a gorgeous spot on milk float for a tenner,oh and a karrier cob mechanical horse tractor unit for £2.looks like we will be going to another soon!

Dinky U23 tipper.

Where these a thing?

Or has someone made this?

French Dinky 25M (Studebaker) has a very similar tipper body and French? Dinky 35A (Citroen U23) has a very similar cab.   I'm no expert though.
