I was hoping that you'd nab that skip as they are hard to find!

Husky VW is nice too.

Did you get the Scammell wrecker?

That looks good under the grime.

Yeah, I wound up with so many skip trucks lately and barely a skip between them!

20200126_112148.thumb.jpg.3496d7537baeba5407b2eaef37c5e6d9.jpg

I ended up punting the unknown green skip off to Sierraman last week along with the Matchbox Cargo, even though it wasn't the correct one...

Only to belatedly pull up some Google images, and realise it did belong to the Majorette Cargo after all.

It was the only truck where the green skip cleared the boom, but it looked all kinds of wrong when loaded - so I decided it mustn't be the right one...

20200126_112229.thumb.jpg.29c19fc613ec330de7f6f07a82282911.jpg

Turns out I was WELL RONG M9.

Majorette_Ford_Cargo_Skip_Truck_blister.jpg.d382baf66b930ec0da321d6bee4d86a9.jpg

It's just badly proportioned.

But I'm quite pleased with the metal skip for the TK, anyway, and it makes me inordinately pleased to reunite incomplete models with their components.

I didn't grab the Scammell wrecker... not yet, anyway.

But I might call back over in an hour...

@Datsuncog - do you know how much the smaller MB Aveling roadroller is please?

If it's up to £4 will take it please.

Not quite sure on the price - Market Blokey indicated a general £2 on the smaller stuff down that part of the stall, so will nip over at 12 and see if it's still there, and sub-£4!

Corgi Iveco and Transit prices plz?

He was looking £1.50 for the boxed 80s Matchbox - so I'd like to think the Corgi might be something similar.

That said, market logic isn't always quite that straightforward...

I shall enquire!

If it's in the £2 section or no more than £5 could you grab that Lone Star Foden for me please?

Yup, will see if it's still there!

Lovely little thing... I should have snaffled it, but I think I was cautious of overdoing it after last week's tat-stravaganza.

Could I get the boxed g-wagon and ford camper if they are still available. Thanks

Ah, sorry dude - just back from Market Phase 2, and didn't pick your message up in time, apologies!

However, both remaining Matchbox had been sold this morning - so no Merc anyway (I had been thinking about snaffling that one too).

There's not just one, but two yellow Ford Campers now - so fingers crossed at least one of them's still there next week. I'll stick it on the Wants list!

Some happier news for other minichod fans, however:

20200207_125959.thumb.jpg.95fbfa9769138e05ca0b7c1b35281d03.jpg

Possibly due to half-term in NI, the market was fairly quiet today and not much had sold in the interim.

So here's the Impy Foden for @quicksilver - funny how some models just seem to have a certain charm.

20200207_130019.thumb.jpg.296656156c885e1ee241b85633d2cc1c.jpg

This one has simply bags of it. Tilting cab reveals the engine and drivetrain. Stunning.

20200207_130037.thumb.jpg.828457305ce6b93a918081a0d7a71bbe.jpg

I'd initially thought this was an EFE due to the size, detailing and general excellent condition - but no, it's an original 1960s Lone Star Impy featuring their non-scratch nylon wheels.

DCMT, who made Lone Star toys and the Roadmasters/Impy vehicles, are a manufacturer I know not enough about.

340161439_Foden_Tilt-Cab_Truck_Impy_Toys_(MM_1967-07).thumb.jpg.89fea8fa97d849943bc4b761e976d5d8.jpg

20200207_130053.thumb.jpg.c809c51ffc02afbcdc47bba44d2f010b.jpg

I also wondered if it had been restored, but seemingly not - the spray-on silver detailing looks factory finish, certainly in terms of sheer crudeness.

It's not utterly perfect, with the missing tipper load bed and a small chip or two - but for £2, hopefully it'll be a nice addition to the Quicksilver fleet!

Now, @egg's request also has resulted in some head-scratching: I'm not very knowledgeable about pre-Superfast Lesneys, and so I can't work out if this MB01 Aveling Barford road roller is an original, or some sort of repro.

20200207_130107.thumb.jpg.ee7ec1ecc434d3bc7afdf370a0df3820.jpg

20200207_130123.thumb.jpg.8339505d9f5181d4416b1bc6c3399fe8.jpg

Like the Impy Foden, it seems just very fresh... not like an old toy at all.

I also thought the rollers on these were metal (as per the larger one beside it on the stall) - but these are plastic.

Yet the plastic looks quite old, and baseplate seems to tie in ok:

20200207_130147.thumb.jpg.6acc4438036a1a286d310634e1d669e8.jpg

I know the early 90s Matchbox Originals range were stamped with the then-current Matchbox logo and 'Made In China' - so if the plastic wheels are correct, maybe this is just an unusually well-preserved Lesney original?

Either way, hopefully this'll be acceptable at £2!

Lady Luck was smiling on @andy18s, too - both Batchelors promos bagged for £3 the pair.

20200207_130221.thumb.jpg.e69b0cd45bf4bdba1e5d953867746caa.jpg

There's a bit of tearing along one end flap of each box, but hopefully that won't spoil it for you!

And lastly, I scooped the mucky Scammell Heavy Wrecker for a not-unreasonable quid...

20200207_130245.thumb.jpg.357ce74b4003b070142b73ade71b9b3b.jpg

20200207_130304.thumb.jpg.7d85c7cacb90f74bf5fbadf039f0ab9e.jpg

The adjustable rear boom appears to have developed a somewhat floppy demeanour, and half the broken glazing is still rattling round inside it, but it's still an impressive big lump of a thing...

20200207_130319.thumb.jpg.ba214f11866470bb6cf1d77e7510682e.jpg

I'm mildly excited at the thought of giving it a good scrub later, though at the same time there's something to be said for that grimy work-worn patina...

As it turned out, there was another tat box hiding (not the 50p one, though) - but mostly it comprised stuff that's appeared before (including the sadly boinked Manta).

20200207_123610.thumb.jpg.c1c64b53d18ecaa9d356893432e181b4.jpg

Speed Kings Bertone Runabout isn't in bad fettle.

20200207_123601.thumb.jpg.61155338043b1eb5950b5d56f75a5361.jpg

Dinky Inch Pincher Dragster lurking, and Corgi Porsche, Lotus and Stingray still in there too - for those who like the older stuff.

20200207_123550.thumb.jpg.97d1ddfd86de9cf82f295f7d0cc43230.jpg

Also that big Tonka racing truck thing from mid-January. Corgi Turbos BMW 635i is decent enough, too.

So! Not done too badly today, and this evening will be spent pulling together a number of parcels for posting over the weekend - those who have paid up for their tat box this week, thanks for your patience! Everything should be landing, hopefully safely, early next week.

I should also say, there's still quite a few 50p /33p/25p specials to clear from the other week - boards have been updated with what's gone and what's left, in case there's anything left which appeals to anyone.

The plan is to list whatever remains on Gumtree as a mixed job-lot, just to get it out of the house - so don't miss out!

Ever the spruiker, hey?

Til next week, kids!!!

Cheers Tim, that's in far nicer nick than I expected for 2 quid so I'm well chuffed. Lone Star's trucks are superb, exact OO scale and very well detailed - they also did a half-cab Foden and a Gas Turbine Leyland (both unusual choices) but sadly later replaced these authentic models with some cheap and nasty generic trucks. That Foden cab is so good that it's been copied more recently by at least three kit manufacturers that I know of, and is better than EFE's flat-fronted attempt.

Yeah, I've been greedily devouring this Robert Newson article about the history of the Lone Star vehicles range - some absolutely fascinating models, not to mention one or two clunkers.

http://www.robertnewson.co.uk/articles/LoneStarImpy/index.html

Well worth a read, I learned a lot!!

The Turbine Leyland and Foden Half-Cab look great too (though the load beds do look a bit toy-like - maybe your green Foden's better off without the orange plastic tipper?)

LoneStar_Leyland_Turbines.thumb.jpg.7f7195760a21e1427a4131cf4a5557d4.jpg

LoneStar-41-Foden-05.thumb.jpg.5040d5c34bf54e54fe44f36053a10c84.jpg

A full list of their Impy output (except the nasty generic trucks, which he dismisses quite rightly as "unlikely to have much collector interest") is here:

http://www.robertnewson.co.uk/articles/LoneStarImpy/listing.html

…and, as well as the trucks, I now very much want a Vauxhall Firenza and Transit tow truck...

LoneStar-07-07_Flyer_Vauxhall_Firenza.thumb.jpg.1f164de43bf063a978cc3a2a0366736a.jpg

LoneStar-31-04_Ford_Transit.thumb.jpg.6da324f00ca0c51ea19dffd39a74145c.jpg

My sole Impy is the nicely proportioned Range Rover I picked up early last year, which dates from their troubled late 1970s days - not long before DCMT went bust in 1983 (sound familiar?)

20190111_092335.thumb.jpg.78e9b4b56c9f144c7096d87395937d61.jpg

It seems they were the first to do what Matchbox later tried with the Super GT range - selling ultra-basic reissues of their earlier models, with opening features cast shut, no interior and opaque black glazing.

But even the fag-end of their car line contained some really unusual new stuff in it, like this Volvo 262C:

LoneStar-81-01_Volvo_262C.thumb.jpg.a36860916406bbb13d03a26c91380b11.jpg

Guess who's found a new obsession...

Tat Friday in Barrow....

Mini van is an Oxford Diecast; 240Z is a partwork edition.

186052769_Fri008.thumb.jpg.2d2cfda098b58973e0fd7a50dd71c82a.jpg

Oldsmobile Toronado is also the partwork variant.  At £3, it's a lot cheaper than you can buy Corgis!

M16 half-track is £8 but it's a big bugger, must be 1/43.

Couple of Corgi Weetabix trucks from the mail promo they did some years ago.  I have both of these, plus the little Leyland.  Nice to see them fully boxed though, even including the plain outers!

I won't be there tomorrow, I'm out all day, but I can see him on Wednesday if there's anything here you fancy.

Just as flimsy as I recall, but there is something of a rush when opening something after thirty-odd years.

I'd managed to convince myself that since there was a crease on the flap, someone else had probably been in there before me and had just resealed it.

Nope, this one appears to have been factory sealed, still.

Ah well... so what about this collector card, then?

Hmmm...

20200207_152607.thumb.jpg.02366298bb8f58a000b6d366a8968752.jpg

I'd thought maybe the card referred to the model it came with, but seemingly not... unless someone else was in here before, and swapped them?

But why would they do that?

Is it a super-rare factory error?

Have I just lost squillions?

conspiracykeanu.thumb.jpg.ce7197fd9f1ae323ed9f0170992596d5.jpg

Nah.

But the aerial did fall off after ten seconds, just like before.
