Corgi's rival brand to EFE, the Original Omnibus Co, produced this rather nice Plaxton Panorama I on an AEC Reliance chassis.

Detailing is pretty good; annoying that I couldn't secure the Panorama Elite on the Bedford VAL chassis to enable a comparison shootout for @RoadworkUK. However - you've first dibs on this one, if you still fancy it.

Ah, great work  on snaffling this! I'll convert my dibs into a procurement, please. I actually have one of those Atlas Editions 1:72 scale Bedford  VALs that Hattons was recently purging stocks of, and that'll satisfy my VAL vs Reliance perversions with a comparison of sorts. If I can cheekily request that you put it aside for me until after (massive assumption ahoy) this Friday's TATSTRAVAGANZA, I'll whang monies across at your whim.

^^^ That's fantastic value... I think I stumped up £20 for just the one Supra in blue and silver - and, while it's true that mine's in 'factory fresh condition' as described, that's a bit of a damning indictment of the Fforestfach quality control in the mid-1980s, as the paint flaws are legion. Bubbling, streaking, smearing...

Still, an unusual model for Corgi to have chosen, and I don't think it hung around in the range for that long, either.

Top buying, sir!

Good stuff, happy to hold that for you!

Looking forward to the comparison write-up - and yes, who knows what delights may lurk come Friday...

Had a look through some boxes, thought I'd compare the Matchbox and Zylmex Minis

Shame mine's so beaten up, as I reckon it knocks spots off the Matchbox

Also found my original Superking 240Z that I thought was lost, I painted the bonnet green and the wheels white as a kid. Seems to be a different version anyway, had the same tampos on the bonnet but never had the stripe etc. White/black bases too

Got the regular, superfast and large superfast wheel versions of the Binz ambulance together - Lesney modified the wheel arches for the narrow superfast wheels it seems

Here's something that I'd not consciously seen for decades before encountering it in a charity shop today.

20191217_192827.jpg

If my mind is less addled than I think it is, I once had a set like this but containing a Honda Accord and a sailing boat on a trailer. Would have been the late 80s that I got it; I rapidly developed a major crush on the Honda and it became my main plaything on The Mound at school (a big grassy edifice at one end of the playing field, with ruts and hollows that, to an eight-year old's imagination, resembled a hilly network of roads and tracks).

20191217_192842.jpg

Thing is, though, this still-sealed package seems in such astounding condition that I can only just believe that it really is new old stock and not some more recent reissue.

20191217_192726.jpg

Have I genuinely stumbled upon an untouched thirty-year old relic?

Sometimes years ago supermarkets would brand their own releases, Marks and Spencer did the Corgi Lotus Elite Flying Club, Tesco also did an exclusive 5 pack in the early 80’s of Matchbox in unique colours, most notably the MB46 Mercedes 300SE in silver, something like 10 years after the civilian one had gone out of production.

I have exactly the same Renault 5 but without the trailer. It *may* have been bought from a pharmacy in Telford in the early 90s (91/92).  Eventually as the paint on the wheel faded, I painted them with a gold marker. Made it look good but the marker paint used to easily rub off.

Cor, that's a fine set of acquisitions!

Not one that's familiar to me, and interesting to see that it's a modified DeLorean model - kind of like when Matchbox were prevented from releasing their take on the Dodge Viper RT/10 in 1993 due to a licensing wrangle, and instead made a few casting mods before launching it as the generic 'Sunburner' instead...

According to their 1982 catalogue Corgi were set to launch a DeLorean DMC-12 in the Corgi Juniors range, complete with opening doors - catalogued as E153 - but it never appears to have seen the light of day.

Corgi_Juniors_1982_DeLorean_DMC12.thumb.png.2d09d5e5bfe9174e183709bba117f4e3.png

Whether that was due to licencing issues, technical problems or just the fact that the rear wheels appear comedically out of proportion, we just don't know...

That's interesting - it seems that the arches were modded twice, once for early Superfast wheels and then again for the larger items - the rear door's getting smaller and smaller each time!

Also, on the later Superfast version, looks like the opening tailgate's been deleted too? At least that means it won't be missing...

Someone on Tumblr has made a mock up of the never-released Corgi DeLoreon, check it out here:
