NO! Not just "Anybody at all;" in fact they are asking you to vote for Roger Somebody, corner-lot car dealer of this parish.  What's the matter with you?  Don't you recognise the flat cap and the short sheepskin car coat?

Oh dear, the instructions on the Mini van were unclear and I fear I've voted for the wrong candidate. I really think Roger Somebody would make a great MP too.

This evening I wandered idly into my local Tesco. As I was browsing for a new set of downlighters for my kitchen I became distracted by the apparent abundance of Hot Wheels bursting out of the top of the proprietary blue skip. I thought I'd have a rummage about. A minute's searching left me clutching in my mortal hands an RS 1600 and an Audi Sport Quattro. Get in!*

Sweet! Nice find

While we're waiting for DC to do battle with Mr. Happy at the die cast tat stall, I thought I'd share some new arrivals.

Got the matching So High to go with my Doc Crush. Not really into monster trucks but I like the Model A casting, especially the Hot Rod versions. These are pretty uncommon so I decided to hunt them down. Van has missing headlights but I have a donor - the Model A van must be the most produced Matchbox of all I reckon

The Bugatti always seems to be missing its headlights so that one is a good find.

I'm going to have to admit to owning a MOY as one was included in a job lot

The reason I bought the lot (which had a few, very poor pictures) was that I could see something interesting in there;

The listing just said "Toy cars, £1" so I assumed £1 each. Only really wanted the Datsun, so when he handed me the lot I asked how much I owed him - £1. For all of them!

Chuffed with the Datsun, Snoopy is an odd one, not my thing but from a brand I'd not heard of

I actually though the Datsun was Matchbox but it's Corgi - here's a comparison with MB Superking;

Well kids... after rather a late one, waiting up until silly o'clock to see whether Chris Corgi would win the election over Roger Somebody (apparently, the seat was taken by Somebody), it was indeed time to do battle with Mr Happy and chums once more...

The morning news claimed that the markets had reacted positively to the overnight political developments, so where better to test the veracity of this claim than by going to a market to find out?

Boom.

20191213_091244.thumb.jpg.6c1a50cd3505952ae63d47f714c80f0f.jpg

So, what have we...

20191213_091113.thumb.jpg.cbf511d742a22b50c3991b406c5072f8.jpg

More of those Matchbox Collectibles Citroen Type H vans; the £10 Lone Star/Corgi repro box items from last week; 00 scale Classix renderings of Austin TX3 and Mk1 Zephyr/Consul, and an Atlas Dinky Triumph TR2... plus that banjaxed Corgi R5 Turbo, and...

20191213_091321.thumb.jpg.f5717e0dce167d94bc4c58606fe9cba9.jpg

Quite a neat little Corgi Driving School Beetle, in working order. £10 asked on this.

Also...

20191213_091121.thumb.jpg.77cb851b676bfb5b5c8a423c8d893e1f.jpg

…the Corgi Chevrolet Astro has now been plucked out of the Tub Of Doom from under the stall; it's in decent overall nick. Are those 'Legends of Speed' something to do with Corgi? I could simply have picked a box up and looked, but I couldn't quite muster the enthusiasm, after two hours of sleep...

The Noddy car was in fairly good if you like that kind of thing (interestingly this would also be classified as a taxi, according to the Enid Blyton books - yet with no private hire plates on display and carrying capacity of only two passengers including the dicky seat, it seems that Toytown Borough Council has a lamentably lax attitude to taxi licencing. Really, Noddy should be in a Kia Magentis or Skoda Superb).

And then further interest to the right...

20191213_091124.thumb.jpg.5365155bface38a34685d3d630e77303.jpg

My, my.

Some nice Corgis here - Charlie's Angels Chevrolet van is a 2001 reissue, but Supervan appears original and in decent nick.

XJ-S in touring car stickerage also very clean.

Sadly, the Capri is missing its rear glazing and the rear spoiler, with two large holes in the bootlid to show where it was. Tampo printing is also quite damaged, and the red base is heavily scratched.

Tenner each, though.

Even so... I was tempted.

As you can see, other Bburago, Maisto and Eagle-something 1/18s and 1/24s are also there, but I tend to not see them til I'm looking at the photos after...

But over on the other side of the stall was this notice:

20191213_091436.thumb.jpg.7939dd7ff0a6bc81462d7904db433d91.jpg

OMG STOCK LIQUIDATION.

So much for the markets firming up, hey? This is fire sale territory.

"Wud ye do us four for a tenner, mister?"

20191213_091430.thumb.jpg.5a158435b568bd2869e2fa37e11e8e11.jpg

Oh.

These were mostly the buses and things from the last couple of weeks lumped in all over the place, so a lightning reorganisation for the camera brought us these:

20191213_091559.thumb.jpg.bd82060089ced9925301d325ff0df30b.jpg

Leyland Atlantean on the top left in Greater Glasgow livery unfortunately has completely opaque front windows, annoyingly. I didn't open the Atlas issues in the middle row to see what they were like, but probably ok.

20191213_091815.thumb.jpg.64f22767d2f4506bc8c49ba43b77a3e7.jpg

Leyland at the bottom left is still sealed. All the other OOC stuff is loose and bashing about inside the boxes, so may well have suffered chippage.

20191213_091910.thumb.jpg.13e6bc76160c392b242b13fe266d82cf.jpg

Assorted AECs, maybe a Guy or two. I'm not great with buses, as you can probably tell.

20191213_091217.thumb.jpg.45a4c6b253f35d4c300b3718de4fa72b.jpg

And more... Dennis Dart, Bedford OB and... others.

20191213_091159.thumb.jpg.268be0020804a05a8419b7fff90e7aeb.jpg

And more.

These were also on the main stall, and also £3.

20191213_091236.thumb.jpg.a26809a3b073d56180030f90574d4e6e.jpg

20191213_091306.thumb.jpg.fdf7173b99a21b070c340ab2c7ae523b.jpg

Fiat Topolino van is by Brumm, also three quid. As are the fire appliances.

Phew.

I had a quick poke in the 50p bin, but couldn't see anything new to tickle my fancy.

 20191213_091342.thumb.jpg.81119598175a31b7d7bdf138ea2e44b3.jpg

And the £2 table of MoY, Days Gone and other odds 'n' sods contained the usual suspects, though also...

20191213_091413.thumb.jpg.6f3b79677427c3a1454a5c8b1c9625a2.jpg

…the Esso promotional Volvo racing truck, and the Corgi AA Transit did interest me also at the low, low prices asked, but I wound up leaving them.

I took a wander down Giffer Alley, past Alan's Emporium, and up past the Charity Stall, but there was nothing with wheels this week - bar some Guinness Days Gone vehicles at a fiver each on a giffer stall, and most of a Playmobile truck on the charity tat table.

But yes... weary weary weary this morning... so you can imagine my surprise when I arrived at my desk to find I'd bought myself a load of fire engines.

I'm not even that into fire engines.

Moral of the story: elections may well have a positive impact on the market - but possibly at the expense of the individual.

I may now crawl under my desk for a wee doze.

^^^ Will do!

I'm not sure whether it's UV degradation that's caused the front glazing to go milky-white, but if you reckon you can fix it/live with it, happy to enquire!

I think it's a code 3... I've got a few other EFE Atlanteans kicking about I can canabalise for glazing. The green Eastern Y-type is one I've been looking for at a reasonable price! Fire over your bank details and I'll BACS over pennies now I've found the bloody card reader!

Oooooo. I'd hate to be the one to ruin your napping plans (sorely tempted myself), but if you were to toddle back over and pick up:

.... I'd be reet excited.

Both are Plaxton Panoramas and it would be "interesting" to have a comparison between four and six-wheel chassis'd types.

Absolutely no heartbreak if not possible, though.

Well, I ambled back over to the market in a caffeinated stupor to find an alarming dearth of miniature public service vehicles...

20191213_122421.thumb.jpg.4f3ce68da62a9d78740f3abb7ed138c0.jpg

Apparently someone arrived just after me and scooped the whole lot.

Banjax.

No doubt appearing soon at an eBay listing near you...

ALTHOUGH

I had picked up (but not yet photographed) the Eastern Y-Type and the Yelloways Plaxton this morning, which may be a crumb of comfort to our resident bus-lickers? All yours, should you still wish!

Just annoyed I didn't get the triple axle Plaxton too, and the Atlantean...

But there were also some other new arrivals in my absence...

20191213_122638.thumb.jpg.709187440a5dff310430a6f1603c4241.jpg

20191213_122642.thumb.jpg.8950720b527401b66f45dedd1a40a656.jpg

Strong money, mind - £10 each on the Corgis, £5 on the Lesneys. I had to decline, though the XJ12-C in Coastguard livery was very appealing.

So, just to bring you up to speed, I then dashed from the market over to a somewhat incongruously glitzy hotel, where my colleagues and I are currently grimly attempting fun 'n' delight at the 'Chr****as Do'... and as I felt that a bag of diecast tat would be an unwise accompaniment to the shenanigans, I've stashed 'em all under my desk til Monday.

So the reveal of what I came away with will be postponed, I fear (though you know two of them) - but hey, a pleasure delayed?

I'll be grabbing that Sambar when I see it. Tesco are doing 5 packs for £4 so I grabbed this pretty much just for the Fairlane wagon. Anyone into Pandas or police cars?

Another time killing exercise on Trademe during a quiet spell one day at work bagged me this Solido Ferrari 250 GT/E

49102584707_d87f3ece2f_b.jpg

I think the backdrop is some part of Harvard university, so I've imagined a scenario whereby it's at the 15-20 year old mark, owned by some professor who bought it out of the Car & Driver classifieds in the early 70's.

49102390371_75a5804545_b.jpg

As is often the case with Solidos, I find it quite hard to date, as they seem to be down with re-issuing castings over years and going from quality wheels to really, really bad ones whenever it suits them. However, a quick search seems to reveal this as being an older casting, which is far more satisfying.

As you can see, the condition of this one isn't great and I'm certainly not a fan of Ferraris by and large but I once encountered a silver 250 GT parked on a quiet city street in York back in 2007, when I was emptying a post box on my postie round. In all honesty, I don't think I've seen a more impressive car; I think the context of it just being parked up on a street added to the aura and wonderment I've carried for it to this day and as such, a 250 GT/E (no other fancier 250 derivation will do) is very firmly locked in as the outlandishly expensive element of my imaginary dream car collection.
