Is this the Victor 101 you're looking for?

Currently no bids with a start price of $25 (NZ - or £13.44) with 2 days to go. If it's bargainous at that price, I'll happily bid for you. I sent a plastic Norev to Junkman last year and it cost £7-8 in international postage from memory, so those two combined would stretch your budget a smidge (I can likely collect from the seller) but I very much doubt you'd shell out more than £25, max. Maybe a little too playworn but it does look like a nice casting!

i got one of them!  its an ace model, one of many from that "golden age" for british diecast toys.

for me, i think it starts in 1956 when Corgi went on sale, and Dinky had to improve their offerings, and running into the mid-1970s.

the few models released by Dinky before they went under at the end of 1979 were not a patch on those older products.

i think there is an Ambulance version of the Victor, but  i might have dream't that

If you like copies of stuff have a look for Telsalda. They made copies of Dinky & Corgi models, but larger & in plastic. There are several other makes as well ?

Oh I like those! It's not so much that I like copies, but all the Chinese toy cars I'd seen before were just generic crap - then I spent ages trying to work out what the hell the Rolls Royce listed in a job lot of Matchbox was, seemed to have early Superfast wheels, but I couldn't ID the casting for the life of me. Purely by chance I found a picture of the Zee Toys one and solved the mystery. That lead me a bit of a fascination with copies and knockoffs, I had no idea it happened until recently.

So, what does $10 get you in the Australian Dinky Princess market?

Cracked glazing and a bent axle by the looks of things. I’m still quite happy as finding BL chod is very difficult down under so I’ll take what I can get.

If I had known about this model as a kid in the 1980s I would probably have had a meltdown. A largeish model of an everyday car that wasn't an Escort or a Metro.

I got a boxed one for my Christmas in 1994 and picked up an identical one to yours in 97 which I inexplicably repainted Ford Bermuda Blue with a black vinyl effect roof.

I have two, both repainted to match the real cars I owned, so one is red, the other black.  VTX 481S and HCK 333W.  Don't worry, they were pretty worn before I started.  (So were the real ones!)

Meanwhile: didn't someone want an early, LWB Britains Land Rover?  I've found one in my stock, you can have it for £7 posted.  Quite good condition but no canopy.

Dinkys BL Princess is right at the end of Dinky.

dimensionally i think its about there, BUT those wheels are so, so underscale!

if nothing else, it is a better model than their SD1 was.

this one is mine, i think it was a fiver, or thereabouts when i got it. cos i like BL a bit too much......

DSCN8646.thumb.JPG.9906ef5ad320a786530fe102661dcb50.JPG

mine has a squiffy rear axil, i think they are all a bit like that, even when new. here is mine, along wit a Corgi XJ12-C, Metro, Mini and SD1, amongst other things.

meanwhile, cos the weather has been shite, i have been repainting a Matchbox Kingsize Foden Wrecker, itself another one of the refugee's from Mr Ramrods collection.

DSCN9020.thumb.JPG.217e2bf236fd9d9052c9200233a9ca9f.JPG

this is what it looked like when i got it too bits.

and then the paint kinda fell off, eventually. i think that the paint that Matchbox used took a good deal more effort to shift that the paint that either Corgi or Dinky used. still eventually it did come off. leaving this. i had to leave the glazing pice still in the cab, cos unlike a Corgi or Dinky, this flippin' thing was riveted in. ah well, no problem, we'll just have to manage as best as we can....

which then got painted.

and put back together, and then with some decals added. i fucked up the small one on the o/s which is a bugger. bit that i can live with.

like many golden oldies, it is a lovely casting. not quiet up to Corgi/Dinky standards, but i guess Matchbox sold at a lower price than the others?

AND i have also bought myself some new, well new to me tat. none other than Corgi's Oldsmobile Toronado. what a looker, this ine has the golden jacks, which are loose on one side! the joys* of a 50-odd year old toy car. they are almost as many joys as owning a real car tat old! the headlamps both pop up, and it does look soooooo cool, even for a big yank.

Just back from France, a bit of hunting around a couple of 'vide grenier' village boot/yard sales saw me end up with this lot of Majorettes:

IMG_9221.thumb.JPG.6bb212f331a75e093ed662b68d252645.JPG

The light blue 604 has a damaged scuttle panel where someone appears to have forced the bonnet open, unless it's been like that since new? I bought the bonnetless 604 thinking I could make one good example from the two, but realistically that won't ever happen. Renault 18 and pickup both appear to have bits missing, but as all of them cost me 50c to 1 Euro I'm not worried, they're on a par with the others I've picked up here or which have survived from my own childhood.

No Norevs or anything else of great significance seen on the stalls, but I'm already regretting not buying a few more of other random cheapies.
