Datsuncog
So, like a tube, I slunk by the market stall again this morning. I just couldn't help myself. This time there were THREE boxes of 50p diecast, the latest addition being a load of very banged up Superkings, brush-painted Superfasts and other randomers, including some older Corgi and Dinky - but all looking beyond earthly assistance. ^^^ Those furry gonk things bother me greatly. Note the ERF tipper (very squashed) and the back end of a Corgi Commer pickup from that set with the interchangable load bays. Corgi Volvo 245 missing its bootlid; MB Holden Ute clabbered in Humbrol. Tinplate hotrod looked interesting, but I couldn't see a maker. Of course, I bought something. Stupid, but I did. Lesney Matchbox No.6 Euclid Tipper, in reasonable nick: Other than some chocolate on it, it's surprisingly straight of axle and even the decals aren't too bad. (I hope it's chocolate, anyway.) Seemed too good to leave in among the Kinder toys and battered stuff. Then this, which was something I ain't never seen before: a Corgi Juniors Aero Car Hmm. I wasn't sure if it was based on some kind of prototype or what; there's a touch of Studebaker Avanti about the nose. But a quick internet search reveals: Well I never. That's a new one on me. It seems that there's an implicit James Bond connection, as this set-up may be familiar to anyone who watched The Man With The Golden Gun from 1974, when Scaramanga's AMC Matador X turns into a plane... Not sure whether Corgi couldn't land a deal with either/both the film studio or AMC to sell it as a film tie-in - though they produced plenty of official 007 merchandise both before and after this, plus had the AMC Pacer model in two scales - but it seems fans consider it within the same range of collectables. I'm not sure how long this model was in the Corgi line-up; it doesn't feature in any of my few 1970s and 80s Corgi catalogues, but it did seem to last long enough to go through at least one packaging redesign. I'm wondering if it'd be worth my while to go back for a rummage just in case the wings are also still in there... Needless to say, if anyone fancies either or both of these I'll happily send them over for just the cost of postage - I only rescued this pair because I thought someone might like 'em, they're not for my collectioning. [EDIT: Lesney Euclid tipper and Corgi Aero Car both now spoken for!] MarvinsMom, Conrad D. Conelrad, vulgalour and 6 others

Junkman
Some of you might remember that I obtained this mint horsebox last Sunday. Of course it requires a suitable tow vee-hickle. There was this old OLLI in the stash, but it was was rather shonky and I didn't like the contrast.Sadly I have no picture of what it used to look like, but now it looks like this: And behold: Conrad D. Am interested in any older 1/43s you may be re-homing, as it's slim pickings over here at the moment, although interesting 1/64s are often hard to resist, too. There seems to be a sizeable annual swapmeet coming up but not until April! Datsuncog

No bother Jo - I'd be delighted to punt it on to a new home! At first I thought it was some tame attempt by Mettoy to join in with those fantasy cars that Hot Wheels and Matchbox were producing by the mid-70s, but it appears that it's even stranger than that, with the clip-on wings and prop motor. It's not often these days that I find a model by a mainstream manufacturer that I'm completely unaware of, which is why I scooped it up. Happy to bung it in the post to you asap - or if you want to hold off and see what else crops up in my forthcoming listings on this thread over the next few days, that's fine too MarvinsMom and eddyramrod

FakeConcern
I always like to have at least one model of my current car, unfortunately none of the larger scale models that seem to be available abroad are in the UK so I found a Matchbox model for cheap and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is, much better than when I was a kid! Nice from the front although it's a pre face lift and mine is post face lift Really nice from the back just like the real thing! The seller said he was now retiring and therefore thinning down his collection, not sure how the two are connected, but hey, he also wrote me a nice little note with the model! I had intended to spray it black to represent my (real) car, but this is far too nice to muck around with so I'm still on the look out for a model C30! * Front/back, whatever Lord Sterling, Burnside, RayMK and 2 others

Burnside
Thought I'd post up some more pics of my 1:43 Gama Opel / Vauxhall collection. The Senator bellow was a recent addition via ebay as had been after one to go with my Carltons / Omegas. The Grey Carlton has a same colour bootlid with spoiler fitted from a faulty GSI I had. As I love these kind of period car accessories people use to fit back in the 80's / 90's as a kid. Which leads me nicely to another Gama Vauxhall Cavalier I have. This one I resprayed about 18 months ago Caribic Blue. At first all was well but 3 months later the Lacquer Coat started crazing much to my annoyance. So left it in a box until this week. After seeing Felly Gama Cavs it gave me inspiration to try again with this one. Originally I was just going to strip back and respray the same colour. So far I've ended up removing nearly all of the paint ( hate using paint stripper ) and now I'm unsure what colour to spray it. Any suggestions? Then I had a idea to try something different. I have another broken spares Gama Cav that has a bootlid spare. I also have a 1:43 Vitesse Sierra Cosworth bootlid in my spares box. So added a rear Boot Spoiler! Bit disappointed though as the spoiler slightly sits too far forward. I couldn't do a lot about it as the holes would have been too close to the inside edge for the drill if that makes sense. Don't think it's too bad though for my first attempt at it and I still have the original bootlid if I don't like it. That's as far as I've got this week. The cold weather plus too much clutter is preventing me from spraying it for now. Hopefully me showing you doesn't jinx this getting finished because I know my luck! Burnside
Cavalier SRi ! Not sure what colour would look good though. Silver or white?SRI rep could work! Did think of White as I have some spare paint already and it would avoid me using Lacquer after last time. Got some Mercedes Silver I could use as well. Had thought of Dark Metallic Grey like the spoiler or maybe Black ? Felly Magic
