Shite in Miniature II

Been a little while since I've had any acquisitions to report. Been trying to stay away from toy fairs and there has been very little in the supermarkets.

But, today a trip to the dentist gave me a chance to pop into the collectible diecasts/toys/games shop which I am surprised manages to keep going in a local town centre. it was worthwhile....

Tomica Premiums at £10-12 each plus loose odds and ends out of the various 50p/£1/£2 trays and displays. The Matchbox 300ZX is one that has the jazzy paintwork and wheel centres.

Tomicas are very nice, with detailed front and rear lights and bespoke wheels.

Compare and contrast Celsior/LS400 duo. Wheels on the Tomica are not only correct for the early version but they are also handed as per the 1:1. Bought another one as a gift.

Majorette and Tomica ambulances, 50p and £1 respectively. Both new to me, and pleasing to see the DS still has its front corner markers and opening tailgate.

Complete with patient.

Mercifully there was no unplanned work needed at the dentist.....

I believe the purple Lexus is one of Zylmex's efforts (or more likely Motormax, as they became). Is that a Graffic Traffic Transit?

Popped into Entertainer, slightly older case on their delivery (and the manager was telling me 115 Hot Wheels got pinched from the Tesco they stock, presumably by staff as it included a box from out of the stockroom). Picked up this Siku to try and make a replica of my boss's van

Post person pushed these through the letterbox - in just an envelope with the tiniest bit of bubble wrap, all the way from the land of snails and cyclists wearing a string of onions over a stripy top while smoking a baguette.

Bought this Majorette No.205 Citroen DS 21 Ambulance from a village shop in Brittany France in 1981.  Pleased to see 1) Mum didn't give it away like many of the others; 2) it's still in ok nick!  As you can see we have another with its blue door still alive and well

20241127_145555994_iOS.jpg

Not only does it have an opening thing, IT HAS A NUMBER PLATE !

Paris registration 5212 YC 75, cast both front and rear and in tight Majorette style, very legible

Lastly this oddball. Wheels have been replaced and are obviously wrong. Looks a bit like a Tonka and a bit like a Tootsietoy, but it's neither. I doesn't really seem to have a specific brand name, just Hubley Division Gabriel Ind Inc

PXL_20241126_133240917.jpg

Hubley were are an old US based toy maker that started at the end of teh 19th Century. I used to see some of their stuff at auctions.

Hubley Manufacturing Company - Wikipedia

Quote

Perhaps Hubley's diversification in the 1960s overtaxed its profits, weakening it financially by the 1970s. Hubley was purchased by toy maker Gabriel about 1969 who continued to make its regular kits and diecast kids toys through the 1970s. A series of colorful but rather unexciting generic make diecast toy trucks were available in a variety of forms (dump truck, tow truck, etc.) up until about 1980. Gradually, the Hubley name was downplayed in favor of Gabriel.

Ah, Zylmex. I couldn't remember who did it. Just has the code D114 and Made in China on the base. Also no door mirror, but there does look to be one above?

How could I tell if the Transit is a Graffic Traffic? Just looked like somthing that could eventually be repainted, as the glass is intact.

White body and base, no tampo and IIRC yellow glazing.

D114 is 100% a Zylmex code, looks like the mirrors got added, going by this extremely tatty one I used to own. One of the few that has "Zyll" on the base

Zylmex D114 Lexus LS400 Zylmex D114 Lexus LS400

Later ones have the textured base with just the D114 and made in China

Graffic Traffic will be all white including the base. I'll swap you for a standard one if you're intending to paint it

Yup, that's what it has c/w the amber windows as mentioned by Sierraman. Swap sounds good, I think you have 2-3 things put aside for me?

Ok things just took a turn for the weird. Listed the doubles out of the job lot on eBay, some sold and the name/address looked very familiar. Sure enough, the guy I bought them off of is buying back his own cars at rather a lot more than he sold them for. I wonder if I can keep doing this in an infinite loop?

Called into Tesco earlier and spotted a 2025 Matchbox A case in a metal cage waiting to be put out. Asked about it and got quite a surly response that they were busy and it would go out later. My partner and I asked some polite questions about which branch of Entertainer oversaw this Tesco, and who the area manager is, then had a wander around the rest of the shop, came back after 10 mins and asked someone else, in front of the original woman. She was more than happy to extract it and let me have a rummage, the first woman seemed a bit put out, I reckon she was keeping them back for someone as there was only a single peg space available, and that was full already.

Anyhow, I got to pick everything I wanted out of the box, starting with the one no-one else will care about
