Now I need one of the other examples from other manufacturers as well (you bastard).

Talking of which...   I sold-on all the Polistils and Solido seen in my old photos over the page, as they weren't great renditions.  But! kept back the two other favourites:  The Eligor and The Eaglemoss part-work provided by Universal Hobbies.  So, a meet-the-Dinky-party just happened:

20240430_202747971_iOS.jpg.877c90c6756023ea7e2aec64839fce8c.jpg20240430_202835561_iOS.jpg.fb60996942be8e461f44f7f7e98a6e98.jpg

This Eligor example does seem to have had punches in the eyes though and lost The Grille Lady

20240430_202750247_iOS.jpg.94da3dee339d8aecbec0a9b75064c4f0.jpg

I do like this Eligor effort from (apparently) 1981 for some reason not fathomed.  Also (apparently) according to hobbydb.com:

Quote

when the tooling went from Norev to Eligor in the late 1970s, Eligor recast the main body in Mazac instead of plastic used by Norev. They also designed a Bentley grille to extend the marketing possibilities of the model so the catalogue could show a Rolls-Royce and Bentley version. What Eligor did not do is re-tool the details to make it a later car, so the 1975 date assigned to these cars is wrong, it should only be called a car from the 1967 period.

20240430_202855133_iOS.jpg.0fc13a7be5bb96c56d4d67e9510c9415.jpg

It also has  opening things.  But not as many.

20240430_202933703_iOS.jpg.4b7331d9d45698de2002e86ff9471f33.jpg

Also an effort on the engine bay detail, to compare

20240430_202936455_iOS.jpg.18f42eb348911f2270c42e7c8dd4ec1f.jpg

The Eaglemoss (Universal Hobbies) is from much more recent years, I think as late as 2017.  Their castings went through a few colour schemes as it was made part of the James Bond Collection, this model being the very last but-one in the collection of 138 models.  I only wanted the Moonraker duo-tone car though.

20240430_202959519_iOS.jpg.3841103d8c42d64b69fcf3b0e686fe63.jpg

It suffers from over-long axles, so the wheels jut in and out

20240430_203013640_iOS.jpg.d215d32bb94fdabf23a7f2cac8eb7805.jpg

But the red interior makes up for it

Posted

I’ve got the Eaglemoss 007 edition Roller in white. Won’t be white forever though! It’s not a bad looking model tbh, over long axles aside.

Ive just got to dig out my Dinky one now you posted that opening glove box shizzle! I had no idea.

Anyone shed any info on who this is made by? Was playing with some of my older model cars I had as a kid with the boy wnd I found this. It's got made in GB on the base and patent applied for but that's it.

That is a Corgi Cub - no spec on the base suggests it was probably made for Mothercare/ELC.

Here's a Norev plastique one that has been and gone.

Being plastique the casting is a lot crisper than the Eligor.

There is a Norev plastic example here of the Chrysler New Yorker.  I didn’t think it was a great model, so was surprised to see Eligor carried it through to be die-cast, that considering its age too.

Not all Eligors were diecast metal.

Here's just a few example of plastique Eligors

You've got a Holy Grail* there

The Corgi Cubs range was listed Here by @Datsuncog from his book.  Main production was 1977-78.

447c171b-59b6-4e2d-ad88-1e1414ffdd8e.jpg

Mothercare was a stockist, using their own-branding for packaging.  Later, they were also distributed by Avon Cosmetics, but with the Corgi brand removed.  I'm not sure if that applied to the Mothercare line as well, but somehow I doubt it as in the catalogue they kept the standard range colour schemes and few survive without the Corgi Cubs logo underneath

What you have there is an example of R508 - Racing Car casting, which was produced as a Corgi Cub with:
Orange body, silver plated base
Metallic purple body, white base

IMG_20230903_114154~2.jpg [Photograph copyrighted by TheCogCollection™]

However!  What you do have there in the Red/Blue is one of the elusive AVON SMILERS range.  The 'AVON Smilers' trademark was filed in Australia in 1988 and Canada in 1989, but was never filed in North America, so this is a European market exclusive.

As you can see, I have no interest whatsoever in the things.

Got some more of the MAN done. More bits added back onto the chassis and then started painting it.

Looks a bit like Noddy’s car here but the yellow is going!

IMG_4464.jpeg.50e25a06db97100c4abd617ecc28d9d2.jpeg

Chassis given a coat of black. Once it’s dried fully I’ll do the details by hand in the appropriate colours.

IMG_4470.jpeg.bc8584e59c80cefa74fb5d4b725e908d.jpeg

Something was bothering me about the cab though. It just seemed a bit too red! So I’ve added a second colour to try to tone it down a bit.

IMG_4468.jpeg.7ffc6376be3385f348a5ce62bb810259.jpeg

And loosely assembled to see how it looks.

IMG_4472.jpeg.b78f6a48454e31907b8ed68e9f80c093.jpeg

It’s got a coat of satin varnish on it now that needs to dry, just to help protect the paint a bit more and tone down the shine. I’m pleased with it so far though.

No idea what colour the interior should be though, there’s not many photos of the interiors. I’d imagine it’d be pretty plain black or grey??

Looks great, are you spraying the inside of the shell to match the seats?

Cheers for the information. I thought it was unusual to me made in Britain but with no makers markings on it.

I usually spray the inside of the shell body colour so it looks the same as any exposed metal bits would be. The interior on most of these is a folded up plastic moulding, so the base have the seats, steering wheel etc attached then the dash sticks up in front and there’s two wings, one each side that make the door cards and side trim. So there’s not actually much of the metal casting visible inside the cabs. I could paint the inside of the roof like a headlining, but you won’t really see it I don’t think.

The only bit you might see, and it might stand out now you say it, is the cab back wall inside? So maybe I’ll brush paint that interior colour?
Im not sure how well trimmed these truck were tbh? Did they bother covering them or like many older trucks just leave it painted metal?

It’s black at the moment so maybe I’ll leave it as is. Just paint a few of the details to liven it up a bit?

That's useful as mine are all just catalogued as Corgi Cubs, as none have any reference on the base.

Mind you they've all gone off to the Emerald Isle now for Datsuncog's "nephew" and "niece" who definitely* exist

Didn't you nab the police car with windows that turned up on here?

Does anyone actually catalogue what they’ve got? I’d be a month of Sundays doing it.

Today's been lovely, so there has been some outdoor work.  Starting with the primer where it's needed...

100_1083.JPG.cfaf02e2962b593ab71a4bd03a9a7a66.JPG

And then I got out the drill and the not-a-Dremel...

100_1080.JPG.6aa2543c408ff6597ffe7c3f0d2c6a87.JPG

What could possibly be happening here?  Patience; all will be revealed eventually.  And then...

That tub is full of stuff to go back upstairs for whatever reason.  Some will be coming back down for paint; most won't.  Why is there a chunk out of the caravan?  Because it's going to become part of the half-a-Transit!  For decades we've all seen battered old van or truck chassis-cabs with caravans of various sizes tacked on the back to create a home-built camper.  I had a pretty distressed and incomplete Transit courtesy of @danthecapriman and a no-name cheapo caravan from @FakeConcern.  Well hey presto!

I've partially catalogued the Matchbox-size entries in my Film/TV sub-collection.  That was arduous enough.  And it's a live thing, I keep adding to it, so the listing needs updating since I last did it.

Cor!  I'm looking forward to the Bedford CF Car Transporter!  What with its 2.3 Litre petrol engine, it will give the driver quite a relaxed* drive.

That's a brave inference to draw!  The 2.3 was quite legendary in the CF: for its time it was ridiculously powerful as vans go.  Of course it could have a Rover V8... ;)

Nice work @eddyramrod good to see that old Transit live to fight another day! It was knackered when I got it but I managed to still rob a few spares for my other one.
The Econoline high top is looking great too.

Quite a few I recognise there actually!

Maybe your CF got fitted with the engine out of the ex LDV Ambulance!
