Sounds like a great idea, by summer I may have something other than a Mondeo to bring..

How far away is the Winifred Atwell motor museum then? wouldn't mind seeing that 9X Mini.

Posted

I would love to be there.... but distance may be a problem :(

Right then - this looks like we have enought to make lighting the BBQ worth while then.

So, how about Saturday 7th July? A little way off i know, but it gives you all time to buy and sell at least three pieces of shite before the event - just to ensure you come along in something completely appropriate!

The Atwell Motor Museum at Calne is only around 10 miles from me - and I know they are always very keen to encourage group visits.

Shall we put that date into the calendar?

Posted

My birthday is on the 14th July so everyone attending has to bring me a present

Posted

As far as I'm aware that date is fine by me but if it needs to be changed to accommodate others then that's fine too, It's never easy to arrange these things for when everyone can make it sadly.

I like this idea.

Can't promise I'll be in shite transport, but I'll bring shite alcohol and a tesco value sleeping bag.

Posted

Imagine the collection of cars in your field!

Despite the water in between, I'm absolutely up for this, the date is marked. If any other NI members want to tag a lift then excellent, you can drive a Laguna V6 home for me after I time an ebay purchase properly

I did Bournemouth in under ten hours in the Mondiesel last year to pick up my National 2... hmmm...

Put me down as a maybe...

You know what to do, Luke... Come over in the Impala, pick me up, then I'll drop you at your Laguna! Every one a winner.....

Has anyone got any objections to the 14th July? I can't do the 7th and I'd hate to miss it.

Posted

Sounds like an ace plan, Eddy! Drive past their house the other day, it's been put to the back of the driveway.

Posted

I don't expect to be around as early as July though... :(

hmmm............July you say........i must be due a trip home........hmmmm

14th July fine by me......

So, shall we fix that then guys?

14th July, Autoshite fest in Wiltshire.

So, how the hell do we work the logistics from here?? I don;t want to publish address in open forum, so, suggest that all those who are up for coming pm me for details.

I'm happy to do it on trust, so no deposits etc required, but the deal is:

Bring meat to sling on the BBQ

Bring copious amounts of alcohol

£5 per person towards sundries and portaloo hire.

I'll make sure there is :

Gas for BBQs

Loo

Soft drinks

Sauces

Rolls

Breads

Cheeses

Salads

Nibbles

Hospitality

Lancias

And if you have parts to sell / swap / exchange, bring them too.

Camping space available

And I'll talk to the Attwell Wilson Motor Museum in Calne as we could decamp to there on the Sunday morning (all those who are still legal to drive at that point!!)

Oh - and come armed with name badge - username on here and real name!

I'm looking forward to it already....... so, who is coming in the biggest bit of shite??

Ahh and finally - that Gamma vs 604 road test.......... should be fab!

Posted

Excellent, I'll check the rota tomorrow to see if I'm able to book it off *fingers crossed!*. If that's OK, and as long as there are no MOT disasters in June, I'll be chugging up in the Allegro estate.

Posted

I'll be hoping to make it in the BX as the 2CV is too shiny and not shite enough. The Maverick is my last port of call. If I still own in come July...

Posted

I'll most likely be flying the flag for modern French shite with the Avantime.

UBER excited :) :)

Posted

I'll be aiming to give the merc estate a run. Just need to get on with fixing it. (most of it is broken)

Posted

I can't commit this far in advance, but I am very interested. As it's going to be on 14th July, I recommend that members who have a selection of vehicles available turn up in their French chod!

Posted

14th July sounds good to me. I have no idea what my fleet will consist of by then, but would be nice to take something French for reasons pointed out by Luxo. Although knowing me I'll probably end up oversleeping and then hooning down at illegal speeds in the Rover of Doom.

Posted

Not sure I'll have the BX by then, so I'll keep the British end up by bringing along the Montego.

Similarly, struggling to commit / clear with Mrs barefoot and...

if you think I'm coming in a little car with a little tent & leaving the VWT2 at home,

you have another thing coming - scene or no scene, I'll make a bloody scene!

Makes perfect sense to me. If you have a camper, or even a van, and there's a camping weekend going down, then your alternatives would have to be pretty bloody compelling to leave the camper behind. Even if it is a Volkswagen... :(

I don't think anyone's going to mind you turning up in a VW, i know if i had one i would, tents aren't the greatest things to sleep in either.
