Back one is Stagecoach Fife 11565, (SK21FJV). Would suggest some special service, where was the picture taken ?

Between J9 and J8 of the M25 heading anticlockwise.

Sorry I thought they were 21 plates.

Some of them were but there were a few in the old Stagecoach livery there too.

You wait for one bus and then ten come along at once! IMG_20210711_094920.thumb.jpg.f51d1a48bf05beed79465c91948d91c8.jpg

I always wonder how buses get to/from the bus factory in Scotland. Clearly they literally get driven... can't be cheap, imagining various contractors need a train ticket home and maybe a night's stay somewhere too. Bit of logistical effort! I guess that Polish Scanias come on a roro to the port.

Also the new Stagecoach livery is still shit.

*phone rings*

"Hi Andy... what colour is the inside of your bus again?"

"Blue"

"... and what state are the racks and headlining in?"

"They're fine. Why?"

"Ahhh, nothing, nothing"

"Anything to do with the set of 70 blue school bus seats that have appeared?"

"Errr... so yeah, busy gotta go, byeeeeeeee"

Bugger. New shift bus coming. I'm really rather fond of this old tank.

Don't think so, they weren't brand new. They were displaying Golflink on the displays

The Open starts tomorrow in Sandwich, Kent. Presumably on their way there for the car park park etc transfer buses.

Same happens at Cheltenham, Stagecoach drag buses from their fleets around the country for these events.

What reg is the Plaxton @cms206? I presume is a Volvo chassis

It's a Volvo B12B, my faithful companion over the last seven months at 800-1000 miles per week. It was new as KX08 HLU but is now away for 70 seat school bus conversion.

Likely replacement for me is a 62 or 63-plate VDL Futura 2.

  • 2 weeks later...

Right, more B&W picies from the early 70's, Nottingham this time and a bus rally which I went on which was apparently held on July 11th, 1971, so 50 years and a few days since I took these.

The first lot is Nottingham Corporation vehicles as the rally was opposite Nottingham's Parliament Street Depot where Northern Counties bodied AEC Swift 707 stands alongside Metro Cammell bodied Leyland Titan PD2 number 24. The HOME Brewery and their beers are long gone, which is sad, but probably not as sad as the outcry these days that the politically correct, self righteous, up their own arse do-gooding b*st*rds would make of HOME using a pugilist as the symbol on their Bendigo Strong Beer adverts (the one to the left of 24's destination box), as it was a 'proper' fighting beer.

A selection inside the depot, MCW bodied AEC Renown 364 (bought as part of the trolleybus replacement program) stands alongside 96, another MCW bodied vehicle but a Daimler Fleetline this time. Hard to imagine that just twelve months separates these vehicle deliveries. A pair of Northern Counties bodied Atlanteans on the left.

Northern Counties bodied Atlantean 528 stands alongside another PD2 Met Cam, 35, again with the HOME Ales advert.

As I said, the rally was held opposite the depot so here's a shot from the top of the bus we used, an AEC Bridgemaster showing the depot and from left to right, an ex East Yorkshire Beverley Bar full front PD2 in the coach livery, ex Burton Corporation 16, a 1949 Guy Arab rebodied by Massey in 1960 and a brand new Nottingham 400, an Atlantean with low height Northern Counties body. Hard to imagine that those little kids on the right are now in their mid 50's.

So what was everybody looking as in the back of 400, well this.

This popped up on the history of Chester le street facebook page.

May be an image of bus and outdoors

It belonged to my FiL, outside one of their garages.

FiL was telling me this afternoon, that this photo was taken around 1969.  Shortly after my FiL and a couple of family members pulled the garage down to builds a larger one, useing a Morris 1000.

Plaxton Mini Supremes built at the former Thurgood factory in Ware. ...the Y-reg is I believe the only one built with the later front.

Apparently there were two more.

But if the micro Supreme was just a tad too small, they did a slightly bigger version.

^ You learn something new everyday, I wasn't aware of those two and I'm sure someone told me KVJ was the only one. I saw Terry on Saturday and he remembered that photo - it was taken in the cul-de-sac behind his house in Somerset on the day KVJ's owner collected it and paid him a visit on the way home.

I would absolutely love to have a good look around that CF Mini Supreme. It's delicious!

If you find yourself on the Isle of Wight, head for the bus museum as that's where Terry keeps it these days. A HubNut road test of it would be ace.

The ultimate HubNutBus would have to be a MAN SR280. Pantograph goodness on the front and triple rear wipers for potentially two triangles of doom on the back! I'm not sure any have survived though :(

Good shout. Although I believe the ultimate would be an extremely rare Leyland Royal Tiger Doyen. The first picture is the badge... Yes the badge is heavy...

The second picture features a Doyen with my badge temporarily applied for a couple of pictures.

The owner has restored this coach to a very high standard and a badge was found for it and fitted... 🤩🤩🤩
