  1. This was going to be a for sale advert today for a cheap XM with a few issues. Now because some lowlife scum decided to attempt to steal it last night it's free to a good home that will hopefully be able to get it back on the road. I should be angry but I am mainly sad that I live in such a shitty area Even if the battery wasn't flat they wouldn't have been able to bypass the pin code anyway.... Well I doubt it. I stopped using it as the battery wasn't charging, suspected dead alternator but I didn't have the motivation to sort it It's out of MOT but is still taxed and insured, not sure if it will start as ignition barrel has been buggered with but may try later with battery out of 405. Ideally it will need transporting, in theory a brave shiter with a supply of fresh battery's could drive it to a pre booked MOT assuming it still starts but rather you than me. It was and is a good solid car, has a stainless exhaust too. Fingers crossed someone can step up and save it as I don't really want the death of this car to be my fault Is located in Brierley Hill AKA shithole.
  2. A collection of motoring books for sale. These are copies that I have doubled up on and so are surplus to my needs, featuring single marque books as well as books in topics such as classic sports cars. Rather than list them individually I have included acouple of photos and it is more about having a clear out with them going to an enthusiast than maximising the money from them. So a dining tables worth of books for the first person to come over to Lincolnshire ( Gainsborough ) with £35 in used notes. Either add these to your motoring library and/or sell them on at a profit. Just call me shite Santa.
  3. Hi all, Before i brave ebay or gumtree, i thought this may do someone a turn on here. 2003 ford mondeo 2.0 tdci, it has around 5/6 months mot left, its a bit scrufy and could do with a good valet, i have only ever used it as a workhorse in the 4 years ive had it. if i remember rightly it's done about 119,000 120,000 miles. good points it has never ever let me down in 4 years it runs, drives and stops fine. before me it was a one owner car with full main dealer history in the book, and around £9000 worth of receipts, so a cracking history file with it. i have 2 spare wings for it, in the same colour code, cuz the missus dented each front wing. i also have a spare starter motor for it. bad points bit of a knocking sound when you press the clutch in, but it has been like that for months and drives fine. slight play in the steering rack, nowt major, i just live with it. air bag light is on, i have checked the flashes and its the passenger seat, so maybe a loose connection, never looked, because it's only ever me in the car. so if your stuck for something that will get you over the winter, then scrap it in the summer if you want, so free motoring. theres probably things i#ve forgot, but i hate putting car ads on, hence i'd rather someone here had it. also i can leave it taxed untill 29th ish, so you can get home. any question, then message me. all the best Gary.
  4. These are all ORIGINAL artworks, not reprints. Sales of these items will help fund the aquisition of a new Vulgalour vehicle, I hope. Since these are originals it is first come first served. There is only one of each of these. I will post them anywhere in the world, within the limitations of the postal service. Postage within the UK is FREE. If you're outside the UK it will cost between £3 and £15, usually, unless you want it sent through a special service. 5. Decided to sell my Vito as I've still not received a new contract with Honda (partly my fault) which could determine my need for accommodation and now I've got decent unit space this seems a bit surplus to requirements really. The Story Bought in June/July as I ran out of mot'ed cars (surprise surprise). Truthfully I thought my Zafira would walk the MOT which it would have the year before except the rules changed on airbags. Panicking and desperate for a pass, I decided to remove the clocks and cover the bulb (apparently tape on the dash is not acceptable anymore). In doing so I broke my indicator stalk and lost a load of screw's and clips. In typical man maths fashion rather than spend 1/2 a day sorting it I bought this instead!!! Ok, that's not quite the full story but it was meant to be a very long term project to convert to a camper being the LWB version and suddenly it was called into full service and hasn't even hinted at letting me down since. I slum it for work as I work away by sleeping in my car/van and this has proved to be very roomy and comfortable if a tad cold this time of year. However, it now has run out of MOT and requires welding to pass ( TADTS on this particular year). The Van On an Irish reg (HXZ 1675) I think it's 54 plate. The plate will come with the van if it sells in one. I like the plate so that may change as it's only worth £75 or so. I'll reflect this in the price. Stats everytime, drives really well, bags of power in the 2.1 Derv. 6spd manual which can sometimes struggle a bit into 2nd, box oil has been done but its apparently a gearstick bush issue on these. Soon get used to it,if not pennies to fix. No whines or undue noises from the drivetrain. No Aircon but Central locking and electric windows, rev counter, all the essentials. All removable panels are in excellent order (P/O had been collecting them over time and replacing as and when). Heater is incredible, lovely warm van despite no bulkhead. No wear on seats. 3 seat version. Great load area. The bad Rust. Rear arches are shot BUT there are two replacements included (brand new). I've cut one out as I wanted to see the extent of the damage and was actually reasonably happy. It's taken the back part of the inner sill as well, about 4" square but the arch will come down to meet this so not an awful job. Strut tops need two small plates. It's passed every MOT up until now and the strut tops were never mentioned so I'll assume it's newish rust. Rest of the body is good, no nasty dents or even scratches, I replaced the passenger door for a mint white one but broke the window reg in the process. £30 new. Motor still works fine. Wedged for now. It does smoke but is intermittent, I can hear the chuff chuff sound of a bad injector seat which I'm guessing it's the likely cause. I've still put 15k on like this and it's got no worse but I think it maybe pushing it to pass the new smoke regs. The P/O thought it might be turbo/induction related but truthfully I've not investigated. Pulls really well, suits at 75/80 all day long. Mixed I get nigh on 30mpg, one particular tank saw 34mpg (full to fill not computer figures). Front shocks are clunky, I've checked through all the bushes and they seem good. Brakes look recent too (can find out more if interested). Starts first time, everytime even in the cold weather. The glow plug light stays on for a few minutes but this soon goes, it is from the internet research a bad plug somewhere. Never gets hot, even in the warm summer only heard the fan come in maybe once or twice. No other warning lights. Tyres close to limit. I love driving it, the position is great and it holds anything in the back, amazing how much you miss a van when you sell one. Has a towbar and electrics fitted. Twin SLD and rear barn doors. One SLD doesn't currently open but it did at first? Haven't investigated. Ply lined. Van stands me in at way more than the price but then it was mot'ed at the time despite needing more work. Plus it saved me a fortune in rent and various bits and bobs. Normally a rusty van is worth £0.50p but these things seem to really hold their money. Plenty with well over 400k on them so at 175k I think in general mechanical terms you could be ok. Worth it if you can weld, probably not if you can't. As I've already cut the arch out and prepped the replacement panel, I can plug weld it into place if that helps anyone. I can certainly get it looking a lot neater as most likely your other half won't be seen dead in it as is ( mine won't anyway). I haven't done it because my welding is ok, but not show standard. A good welder would want to do it they're own way no doubt. I may have some spares somewhere for it, between me and the P/O we things like wheels and plastics. Price is pretty firm as they break for silly money, the key kit alone is £300 used (this had both keys also), engine/gearboxes/rear axle all seem to sell quite fast so that's also an option if I can get the big bits gone first. I have a dry area to strip it if that's more your thing. I'll get some pics up asap when I can find some or I'll take a load next week when I'm back up in the light. Book it in for an MOT and it will drive anywhere with no issues at all. *** I haven't presented this for a MOT due to the obvious plus the new rules with OMGDANGEROUSFAULTS I didn't fancy getting speed by the old bill as they love* old van drivers. I'd be happy to present it for anyone free of charge but then it will show all the faults online forever more. If it was going to be converted to camper I think this would be detrimental*** All enquires through here at first please. Thanks for reading.
  6. Right, no more procrastinating - it makes you blind, you know. So - I have to sell some books. Hope this will be the first post of many updates but it isn't easy for me to part with things! First off - Doug Nye British Cars of the Sixties - a 2018 update of the 1970 original - 182 pages. Good condition . Tenner posted (I have tried getting these pictures the right way up - they are fine on my laptop. Soz. ) Brian Jewell "Allard to Zodiac" British Production Cars of the Sixties. Not much to this - 190 pages, half of which devoted to a fairly ubiquitous b/w photo accompanied by brief text. Sort of coffee table light - think of it as a tea and biscuit book.... Good condition, £5 posted Bruce Hudson - "Postwar British Thoroughbreds" A bit of resto advice, some specs, and photos. Not bad stuff and the first third of the book is still pretty relevant. Rest of it is specific to what were considered classics before Mk1 Escorts and VW campers. Good condition, £3 posted Rolls Royce and Bentley Vol. 1 Standard Production models 1945-1965 Graham Robson One of his better efforts, shouldn't be confused with the later pot-boiler. Looks at Standard Steel models MKV1 to S3 and RR equivalents.... This one has an annoying tear on the dustcover - testament to too many bloody books..... Tenner posted, please.... Doug Nye Story of Lotus 1961-1971 Growth of a Legend SOLD TO CHRISTINE Thank you More will follow, I am sure...... I have listed them as good condition but they are not mint - just well kept (apart from that blasted tear)
  7. Dammit, I really don't want to be the person to kill off a forum car, but it looks like I am. This is a quick post on a train between work meetings, but the Saab has been shedding coolant at a more alarming rate than normal and the verdict is in - heat exchanger in the bank of the V has failed, which has taken the head gasket out. I'll do a more detailed post with its many other faults later, but does anyone want it for scrap value, ideally before the insurance runs out on the 16th? It drives, but it shat out enough coolant from full to put the warning light on in the 2 mile drive to the garage this morning, so not very far...
  8. Large collection of parts for sale off various cars. All cheap. Large parts can be collected from near Kidderminster/Ludlow. Anything else can be posted.
  9. I seem to have acquired this totally unwanted or needed now the Leon is mot'ed. Kind of selling it for my mate but it is now mine however I'm taking the hassle hit of it as I'm hoping he'll get me into a new job so if I turn up with a few extra readies for this he'll be over the moon!!! My mistake in getting this, my mate went to P/X it but was told they don't do P/X on finance, new one on me, I just don't think they wanted it. I desperately needed a car that week as everything I had was sans MOT. I didn't get back to him quick enough and someone else jumped in. Long story short, like a cheap prostitute he's had his use of her and now wants shot. My mate used it everyday for work for the last 3 years with no major issues. As you can see from the MOT history he's racked up the miles, but it's a true "don't fix it if it ain't broke car and it hasn't been looked after servicing wise. For the asking price I'll do an oil change, clean it out and get it looking a bit more spick and span but if you just need a quick WBOD, turn up to Swindon and I'll knock a ton off. Delivery could be an option for onward travel by rail or in the form of a lift off heading Westward towards Swansea. OBVS zero guarantees or comebacks on this car, I know nothing about it other than its silver, some paint is missing of the roof (read up and this seems TADTS?) 5 Dr and the blower fans don't work on it (also apparently a TADTS). I'll be test driving it after work today and I'll most likely shove it through the jetwash to see how it looks and get some pics up. Reg is LD55 FRX for the MOT licker's and looking back there's never been anything major for it to fail on, just consumables. I think it's the same motor as the full PSA 1.6HDI range but if so I know it runs fine with no smoke etc (followed him to work many times) so it could prove a good donor for any of those vehicles as I know they eat Turbos and so on. I'm sure ford had a say in that engine as well so may fit in a focus/Mondeo/c max thing also? Either way a cheap reliable car that doesn't look too dreadful. If your quick it will be taxed to get you home and INSURED for 3rd party thrills but as always FULLY receipted to avoid any nasties. Get in touch through here in the first instance. Cheers.
  10. I'm trying to declutter a bit. I will keep the majority but I really need to thin them out! I have been gradually dishing them out to the kids but they don't need all of them. I have way too much stuff. £1 each + postage Will add more
  11. Peugeot 205 in Cherry Red, this is a 1995 model on an N plate, I saved this car from being scrapped after having what looked like the worst rear axle I've ever seen, I replaced this along with the rear brake cylinders. It had been sat since 2015/16 and as such has been widely neglected, I've found from looking around the car that the wipers will need freeing up as they won't activate from the stalk (they try at least) The gearbox is fine in 1st, 3rd, 5th and reverse, 2nd and 4th gear bounce out though - unsure on this one, if you've got a gearbox laying about, I'd recommend either fitting that or tinkering with the selector and linkages perhaps, ideally wants the balljoints and/or track rod ends renewing too as it shudders through the steering (I'm sure there was advisories about this last time it was MOT'd) , a shame since the engine runs nicely with only 46,000 odd miles on the clock, of course would need a bloody good service before going back on the road, cobwebs and all. The bodyshell is really tidy - under the back seats and bootfloor are fantastic, one of the best I've seen, the front inner wings have a little surface rust as most 205's do now, above the windscreen is great too. The car has central locking and electric front windows and the paint isn't that bad really, . It'll tidy up into a nice runabout for someone, I'd get a load more for it by breaking the thing up, but I can't really face it since it is that clean.
  12. As title says, 300tdi Disco. Just been used for house moving duties towing stuff (other shite mostly). Now in new house with too many cars so has to go. I was planning on selling it to the local Land Rover breaker but, if anyone on here wants it for £300ish then I'd rather do that. I'm at work at the moment so will add pics tomorrow. It's on around 240k, I've owned it for six months or so and it has been totally reliable. I did the head gasket at 223k when I first bought it as it was just starting to burn through on cylinder 4. Reg is S46 NGC but from memory MOT history tells you nothing! It needs the usual welding to the rear of chassis and the boot floor is just starting to go although not badly. The steering box weeps, it needs rear calipers but there is a new pair included if it sells on here. It has had various bits of welding before I got it, none of which are particularly impressive - just mot bare minimum stuff really. It's a nice old bus and I was planning to weld it up and keep it. Unfortunately I have been told that there are already too many vehicular projects on the go (Transit, Phoenix, two minis, Berlingo etc) so this one gets the chop. . It would need to be collected by next Thursday as it has to live on the public highway, I have it insured until then and I'll be cancelling the tax sometime after that. I appreciate that this is a crap ad for a vehicle with next to no MOT but here goes. Oh, by the way, I would possibly swap it for interesting mini related stuff (proper A series minis). Cheers
  13. There's one popped up for sale near me and they are only asking £50 for it. Its on FB and will probably go quickly but I'm happy to collect and store for someone if they want it.
  14. Can't seem to see the for sale thread but then again am not in the mood to look too hard really Rummaging in the loft this afternoon and found the chrome leaper I bought many years ago for one of my XJ40's. No longer have Jags so do any of the Jaaaaag owners on here want it for a tenner plus a couple of quids p & p? It is new and unfitted, just been stored for about a long time. Let me know.
  15. Renault 5 parked up on mummies drive since 2003 autoshite style. Needs to go, not as rotten as some, but rotten. Was running perfect when parked up, engine still turns over no spark probably tdc sensor. Dent in rear quarter. Has never been in a barn. These are going for ridiculous amounts even in this condition but I really can't be fucked with eBay Gumtree. Anyone make offer?
  16. Umm, yeah... the ex-Ghosty R8 is up for grabs. Life has hurled some very unpleasant and unexpected stuff at me over the last few days, and I need to get shot of a few things very quickly. Can't copy/paste or link because phone, but the original thread's not far away. £200 ono - car's in N Wales near Caernarfon, can pick up at Bangor station or could deliver for £train.
  17. Not sure if this is of any good to you lovely people? It's now surplus to requirements. It really does drive lovely and has only got a couple of niggles but I've not the time, effort or inclination to sort. Quite a high spec car which includes.... Half leather seats Aircon Traction and stability control Cruise control Factory alarm system Heated mirrors and door locks On board computer for mpg etc Interior mood lighting pack Boost CD player with aux White exterior indicators. Also had chilli pack from factory. Drives really nice with no knocks or bangs. 6 speed gearbox is smooth and clutch bite perfect. Still feels nice and tight. 9 months MOT and both advisories from last MOT have been done. Parrot handsfree kit. Recent full service. 17" alloys which look lovely with good tyres. Engine light comes on every now and then, might take a day might take a week, had it in at a mini place and mechanic says it's either the vanos exhaust solenoid or the exhaust vanos sprocket. Solenoid is about £30 and hours Labour (Looks easy but fiddly) or if it's sprocket they are £70 and has quoted £100 to change ( no idea how easy lol). He said do cheap one first because they do go quite often. It drives perfectly with it on or off so I've never bothered with it really, meant to sort but you know how it is lol. No timing chain noise at all and chain and tensioners look about new, have got a pic of them. Really good on petrol and is currently on 38.9 mpg. Advertised for £1500 on bumtree, cheaper here for you lovely people Any questions fire away
  18. Not me selling but saw this on Gumtree and thought I'd share the love if it's allowed? https://www.gumtree.com/p/mazda/mazda-323f-1.6-automatic-petrol-cheap-car/1313220248 MOT till the 10th Feb, 88,224 miles on the clock, electric windows and sunroof Pop Up Headlights 5 Seats ABS Good little runner starts first time every time and has not let me down for the 6 months that I have owned it. Was going to be a little project car however, staring a new job next week so won't have time for it. Bodywork has some scuffs and dents but no visible rust which is pretty good for a 24 yr old car. I would suggest fitting a new nearside CV joint which would cost around £50 in parts but I personally wouldn't say it is an emergency, otherwise, the car has no other problems. Also comes with a cassette player with a FREE prince cassette from the previous owner. Ad ID: 1313220248
  19. BMW 523i E39......for sale.... The time has come to sell my beloved BMW 523i. She is at current in storage so with that said, I'll pull her out and she will go with a fresh MOT as she was MOT'd last year, driven onto the back of my truck and offloaded again into a warm dry garage. She drives perfectly and starts on the button. If I just so fancied, I'd jump in this and drive it to the South of Spain tomorrow absolutely no shadow of doubt she'd make it. Gearbox - Spot on Engine - Spot on (straight 6 and sounds beautiful) Suspension - Feels tight and doesn't knock or bang so again I'd say spot on She has only done 133k miles from memory. Air conditioning works and can say that having owned quite a variety of cars in the past none have come close to the temperature of the air pumped out as this thing....unbelievable... I'm after £995 for a painless sale although I'm sure that one in this condition would fetch £13/£1400 if I was prepared to sit and wait. Pictures are from back in the Summer. Negatives? - Light scratch on the rear bootlid. virtually no rust. two small bubbles that have amounted to nothing on the rear drivers side wheel arch (that's me being extremely fussy) and the headlights might benefit from a polish as they have yellowed just ever so slightly. Car can be in Reading or Birmingham (my wife is from Shirley in Solihull so are up there all the time)....of course I can pick you up from the local train station/meet you at Heathrow etc etc
  20. Now that my trusty new LDV Maxus has joined the fleet, I don't really have any need for the Transit any more. It needs a bit of loving, bless it, but it still has the potential to be a good van again, although it's never going to win any beauty contests. It's a SWB low top van and is RWD so GR8 4 drifting. The engine is the 2.3 twin cam as used in the Galaxy and Scorpio - it puts out 140 bhp so it's quite a nippy van. It starts first time and hasn't ever let me down. Spec is fairly basic (no electric windows or aircon) but as far as I can recall everything that it does have works OK. The bodywork is its main letdown. The front and back aren't too bad, but both sides are dented to buggery, and there's a gash in the offside that's been covered over with gaffer tape but really needs sorting properly. Also the side loading door doesn't open. For a Transit this age it isn't actually too bad rust-wise, but the driver's cab step area is quite rotten and will need repairing (repair panels are available on eBay as it's quite a common rot spot for these). There are a few other bits which would probably need a dab of electric Prit Stik to get through a test, but the driver's step is by far the worst. It has a factory LPG setup which is a tad temperamental. Sometimes it'll run fine on LPG, sometimes it splutters and chugs, and sometimes it refuses to run on gas at all. It's always fine on petrol, but obviously it's more expensive to run that way. I have to say that when I replaced the spark plugs recently, I found that three of the four were only in finger tight, so that might not have been helping matters - I've not put any LPG in it since then though (nearest pump is 15 miles away) so can't be certain. Also the clocks can be temperamental, although they usually settle down after a while and are normally fine on a long run. The fuel gauge seems to remain operational, it's the speedo, rev counter and temp gauge which can be intermittent. Again, a common Transit issue. The only other issue worth mentioning is that it has what I think is a worn propshaft bearing. This isn't really too noticeable when pottering about, but it becomes increasingly apparent above 70 and by 90 it's like being sat in a massage chair. Fortunately 90 is illegal (and the fuel consumption at that speed is starting to get silly anyway) so it's not a massive problem in normal use. MOT is out obvs, but it's still taxed at the minute. It's in NE Norfolk and I have no doubt it'd drive wherever if booked in for a test. Pics: The offending step:
  21. Look at this thing! It's a 1995 Clio RT auto, as seen recently on the bay tat thread. My colleague, who has had no working modern car for a while, made a rash decision and bought it at the beginning of the week. The whole thing was a disaster as the car shredded a tyre as it pulled away and the spare had a huge hole in the sidewall (cheers, vendor!) so it was abandoned overnight and we went back the next day, fitted pair of new tyres and went home again. Sadly, in all the hullabaloo, it only became obvious the following day that there is a serious issue with the gearbox, i.e. it's stuck in flipping' top gear. You can imagine the hilarity* this causes pulling away from a standstill. Basically, it's properly shit and borderline dangerous to drive, although once up to speed it's nice enough cruising along. The obvious course of action is to grudgingly eat the £500 (plus two new tyres, ffs) and chalk it up to experience, but in other respects its actually really nice. It's virtually mint - it's obviously had a little old lady owner who kept it garaged for most of its life. The under bonnet is like new - freshest inner wings I've seen on any car - and the interior, which is funky, blue and comfortable, is virtually unmarked. For a 20-odd year old Renault, it's in remarkable condition. It's got no rust on it and the MoT history is fantastic. I realise the obvious thing to do is to book it in at a friendly garage (are there any friendly garages in Sussex anymore? I don't know of any) but that's gonna be £100 just to figure out what the problem is and tell us it's gonna cost another £500 to fix. It might not fit with the ethos of this website, but it simply isn't worth spending any money on. By the same token, at the moment it's worth £75 in scrap value. So, does anyone on here have insider knowledge on old Renault three-speed autoboxes? Is this a 'known' issue, or an easy fix? Or is it basically curtains for the car, and a monkey down the drain? Any comments or suggestions, no matter how stupid, welcome...
  22. I realise that this might be a bit 'new' to be of much intererest here, but I thought I'd offer it on here before I have to deal with the pond life that inhabits Gumtree & Facebook Marketplace........ 2007 '57' plate Mazda 3 Sport 2.0 petrol in Aurora Blue with 11 months MOT (due Sept 2019). Currently on 108000 miles the car has had 3 owners from new & I have owned it for 4 years. The engine is chain driven producing 149bhp (when new) & has a 6 speed manual gearbox, its quite good on fuel - I get around 40mpg on average. This year it has had new discs & pads all round, 2 rear shock absorbers & 4 new tyres fitted (all the same brand) which have still got plenty of life left in them. It is equipped with DSC, traction control, cruise control, 4 elec windows, elec heated mirrors, leather interior, 6 disc cd changer (with factory fitted Bose sound system), climate control etc The aircon doesnt get too cold (probably just needs a regas m8!) The car has been very reliable & for the past 3 years has been used daily for a 50 mile commute & has never let me down. Has some service history, I change the oil & filters myself every 6 months during my ownership, although I had it serviced by the garage that did the MOT earlier this month. The car is in good overall condition (surprisingly un-rusty for an 11 year old Mazda, not even any previous MOT advisaries for rust!!!), and has some stone chipping / car park dints / general wear & tear for an 11 year old car. I am only selling as I need a bigger car for the family, so I am offering this fantastic piece of far eastern engineering for £1250 for it as it is (if it goes to Gumtree / Facebook I will add a £250 idiot tax to the price, and I shall eagerly await offers of broken Xboxes, stolen pit bikes & flat screen TV's, Staffies, requests to pay for the car at £3 per month etc..........) In the unlikely event that one of you chaps is interested, the car will be available after this week (collecting the new car at the end of Sept) Located between Huntingdon & Peterborough (PE26 postcode) Pics - Thanks Matt
  23. drives great for rover/handa 216 gsi auto,66000 miles,four new tyres previously fitted,as where front discs/pads,new timing belt inc,not fitted,cheap banger,not a looker,2 keys,haynes,handbook,etctaxed etc to get home,rear spolier in boot,dont ask...location bolton,up north,
  24. Not mine but spotted roadside locally in a quiet little village. Body looks a bit ropey with some spray marks/touch ups. More than likely gifter owned. If any interest I can go back and view and take better photos.
