That looks like a mini that someone described over the telephone to someone who speaks a different language , which is probably exactly what it is.

blackbird got a reaction from D Spares & Tyres in Blackbirds rambling - Nissan content, Terrano terror , Bluebird savior
So I bought a Terrano II R reg same weekend as a Nissan Bluebird G reg last year

The Terrano had a huge stack of paperwork ( some for expensive recent welding work , pay attention this is important later !!) ,

amazing condition inside with leathers electric everything (not your usually dog chewed farm van

no rust on front wings (rare)

it had about 9 months MoT , what could go wrong £700 quid ......

    Well

Around January it started not starting , just click .
So new battery first , still sometimes not starting

So looking to do the starter motor and maybe the ignition switch
Not too bad , about 200 for the starter motor , willing to invest that in it , lets try that 1st

Took it to a garage I've used for years , and that look after my bluebirds ,
I get a call off them asking if I want to invest the 200 , as they think its fubar'ed !!

I was a bit surprised by this , they said come round and we'll put it up on the ramp for me to see , they basically said this was dangerously rotten on the chassis

So I went round and yes , bugger me , its rotten , VERY Rotten

This has not happened since the last MoT (late September ) , deep horiible , split !! rusty rot !!!

Basically I guess it was a dodgy MoT or a blind tester , no way it should have passed the last MoT

This garage I use has a welding fetish and even they wouldn't go anywhere near it !!!!

The Rot was on the front chassis where the front diff rests

It had rot in other places , that could have been done , rear spring mounts for example
I said hold on the starter motor for now and off I went

I liked the truck , So I popped round to a local Landrover specialist
These people are very well know , restore land rovers , put in whole new galv. Chassis on etc
Ive always wanted to go round to see them , now here was my chance , they'll be up for this I thought

    No.

They had a really good look over it , fair play, and instead of maybe giving me a price
he basically told me it was absolutely F'ing F'ed !!!!
Asked me what it owed me, and said if not too much I should scrap it !! , told me I was lucky to have not tried to tow with it !!

I knew these things were rot boxes , but FFS ( I think DollyWobbler did actually directly warn me !!)

My plan was to get it to the next MoT and then Scrap it , I knew I wouldn't pay to get it trough the next one but thought I could get it there

So off it goes to "Remove my car " for £340 quid

so £360 quid for 2 Months use ,

Shame I did like it , Much prefer the rounder pre-facelift one

So the Bluebird I bought the same weekend (which I actually thought was a bigger risk that weekend then the Terrano ) is my lovely daily ,

    In Bluebirds we trust

Anyone else check the scrap value of their cars before they buy .........or is that just me ..

My basic shite calculation on the value of a car starts at scrap and add on up from their

But then I do live at the spikey end of the pineapple car wise

When most people buy a car it involves walking into a dealers, drinking awful coffee from a plastic cup, signing some awful forms from a plastic salesman and getting a bunch of flowers on the passenger's seat.

The Autoshite way is utterly superior in every way, except that the car doesn't usually go.  A trifling matter when you consider the upsides.  Good luck!

"Nope.  Fuck it, let's scrap the car.  It needed a wash anyway."
