Reminds me of the last time I went to Halfords (ages ago).
Looking at the wiper blades, on the boxes where it says what cars they are for it was all Austin Ambassadors and Fiesta MK1s!
These were newly packaged too, not some dusty old stock they'd found out the back.

My dad runs a small garage and throughout the 90s Unipart would send literally tons of branded freebies, some of which he could've sold to customers.
I remember about 100 copies of a very good Unipart road atlas that they suggested he could sell but he just gave them to regular customers.
 
Also, one year there was a calendar of nudey Russian ladies, which caught my attention at the age of 12. He had boxes of them but wouldn't let me have one!

Apparently still popular as an amateur rally car. Why I wonder?!

Fat ugly old bag plastered in make up has S4 GOB on her Pug 206 estate. Presumably an hilarious gift from her poor idiot husband. Oh yes, personalised number plates are the height of good taste.

Yeah there was another video from last year with an Imperial in a UK race. It totally destroyed everything in it's path and went on to win. Someone on youtube commented that they're banned from racing in the US because it would go on for hours, 2/3 of them hitting eachother, with people getting up and leaving!

Still a fair few of these smoking around. Slow and smokey but apparently very torquey, you can hear them coming a mile off. Much better survival rate than the Skoda vans, I think they're a bit more hardcore. Also they were still making them until recently.

Ha! That Pegaso J4 based thing looks like it would be particularly crap.

Not really shite, just were never upgraded much in their extended lifetime.
Actually pretty clever when they first came out - I believe the first ever FWD van which meant a large capacity and low loading area at the back.
I would love to try one of these one day. I think nigel bickle of this parish has one?

I've yet to sample this Hirst but do welcome the return of your occasional review of television programmes. In light of this mention of obscure car shows from the past couple of decades, I once did a job with a fella called Adrian Simpson, who briefly hosted Fifth Gear and even more briefly hosted Top Gear; so brief in fact that he's not even mentioned in the Former Presenters of Top Gear list, which is actually a whole separate page to the other two pages about Top Gear on Wikipedia. Funnily enough, Brendan Coogan does get a mention.
 
 

 
For those of you who may have forgotten who he was, here's a photo of him looking cool in a leather jacket. It's lifted from a Cancer charity website mentioning something about his involvement in their 'world's biggest bra' fundraising stunt. Presumably he was offering to be the content, as on the day I met him, he was a complete MASSIVE TIT.
 
Three memories still stay with me:
 
1) He arrived and promptly started asking everyone on set if they had a battery for a Nokia non-ironically, presumably having never seen I'm Alan Partridge.
 
2) He had an Astra hire car and started whining on about the non self-cancelling indicators. You're not on TG now, mate, you're on a pilot for an afternoon TV show about whether people should move house or renovate, which you end up not getting the gig for, presumably because......
 
3) .....you openly deride the houses chosen as the options to move in to, saying "I can't put my name against these choices", like the programme made was ever going to be remembered (other than by me).
 
As an aside, Anna Ryder Richardson was there co-presenting that day (I had a semi infatuation with her at the time, complete with bawdy nickname which was a play on her surname) and was excellent in comparison. Name droppin' like a Mo-Fo.

Thought I'd post another update of the camper build. The base vehicle is about a week from completion. The truck has now been resprayed inside and out. The entire braking system renewed along with all steering links, box and idler. The interior of the cab has been completely covered in soundproofing/ insulation. 2 layers on the floor. I've lined the rear of the cab in grey felt. It's usually just left painted metal. I carried out a major service and clean on the engine including water pump, timing belt and pulleys and glow plugs plus the usual filter changes etc. I've checked the gearbox internals and they all seem fine so I cleaned the gearbox and fitted it to the engine along with a new clutch. I fitted them this week.

Shooting stars!I know its a bit tired, but it made me laugh this evening.

Happy New Year to you all. After the worst two years of my life I intend this year to be more positive. It's starting well by me having bought this pile of shite!

When the front wing came off to our amazement it was a genuine Peugeot Talbot panel - result! So all the new panels that have gone into this car thus far have been genuine parts.
