Picked this Chevette up from a local marketplace seller yesterday.
It's not branded and the seller didn't know but its very well detailed for a 1/43 scale.
The plan was to repaint it in white, and stick a plate on it to replicate the wife's 1st car but it's too good looking to mess with really.
And being lhd wouldn't look right anyway.
Again, don't know why the pics have flipped...

Would be a shame if it happened to take out his aircon wiring  and pipework at the same time.
Well away from the wall obviously

I've still been pretty busy on this, last weekend dad came over and helped me change the valve stem seals, they were absolutely shot, it took most the day using the compressor route with the head on but it worked and now there's no smoke at all.

I also fitted a new electric aerial which was a faff as a fuse had blown behind the ignition column that I didn't know about, eventually sussed it out and now works, the rear orginial speakers were rotted out too so swapped them out for some new ones.

Then today it was MOT day! I won't lie, I was proper anxious about this as I hadn't even driven it before! I need not have worried though.

It was a new garage about 10 miles away down the A12 but they were a great pair of lads who own old Fords and were very understandable with the old cars which is what I like, it flew threw though, just a verbal to sort the welding probably on the strut top.
The only fatality was the rear axle cover sprung a big leak which is apparent common with them, £65 for a new one with a gasket and bolts so not the end of the world.

So all in all a pretty good result I'd say!

As a bit of a change, I thought I'd post up some motorbikes from Polistil. These were made in the 1970 and 80s and are the smaller 1/24th versions. Polistil also did 1/15th scale bikes.
    Ducati 750

    Honda CB 750 Four

    Kawasaki 750

    Moto Guzzi V7 Sport

    MV Augusta 750

    Norton Commando 750

    Suzuki GT 750 Kettle

    This one is rare.
1978 Chrysler Subeam 1600 Super is it registered as. And is road legal for almost 2 years and is drivable. 1254 pounds.

Well, as predicted, my "cutting down on buying diecast" was measured in, erm, hours I think.
But on one of the FB diecast pages appeared a listing, from a guy selling over 250 boxed Vanguards models. Mostly the early yellow box ones from the proper Lledo made in England era.  But in amongst them, I spotted a couple that interested me,

So this is from a lot later when Corgi briefly went back to the old style yellow boxes with the slide-off lid. Ah, bliss. No pissing about with several differently sized tiny screws holding the model to the plinth just to remove it (half of which disappear into the rug never to be seen again.) Just slide off the top lid and....

There we go. Take the model out of the plastic insert and enjoy...
Chrysler/Talbot Sunbeams are among the rarest Vanguards to come up for sale. There were comparitvely few variants made, with one Ti, two Lotuses, two police versions and I think three Motorsport versions. I've been lucky enough to get hold of the green Ti version, one of my all time favourite models. Ordinarily I don't go for rally models, but I couldn't really pass up a chance of a mint & boxed Vanguards Sunbeam for a tenner, especially one as nice as this.

The Colin McRae and Richard Burns Sunbeams go for crazy money now, but this is a nice variant all the same. WRW 29S and 30S were pre production Sunbeam 1.6Ss given to Chrysler's competition department. WRW 30S apparently was used for the development of the  Group 4 Sunbeam-Lotus rally car and WRW 29S was used to showcase the Sunbeam 1.6 as a Group 1 rally car for club rallyists wanting to replace their Avengers with something similar mechanically but small and nimble. It was driven in several rallies by ace Rootes/Chrysler competition driver Bernard Unett.
That car is captured nicely here. Love the futuristic 70s style lettering and the detail on the spotlights.

Early Vanguards Motorsport variants were just literally standard models with a paintjob and different wheels. This comes from the time when Corgi started to put a bit of effort in, with proper rally seats, and a roll cage.

Nice rear strut brace and spare wheel on show.

Even a proper motorsport steering wheel.

I was watching 1 of Dennis Collins's youtube video where he was dropping off a car to be shipped to the UK
The guy he was dealing with said it cost around $800 to ship it over.
    Just a thought...
