  1. Battery warranty is 8 years / 100k miles on all cars from 2003-2009. For just the 2009 models it was dropped to 5 years for some reason, but went back to 8 years from the launch of the MkIII Prius and Auris HSD. At 4 years old, a Prius will be worth about double what you're quoting, too. They're one of the slowest depreciating cars in their class / size. Anyway, enough now - the irrational and unexplained hatred from people who haven't spent any significant time with one can be rather annoying, though.
  2. Or deliver almost every other car too? slap in the face for its so called green credentials though eh. Yeah, I mean, they should be sending them over using lentil powered air ships or something.
  3. Or deliver almost every other car, too? I don't 'get' the whole Prius hate. I was like that once - but then I was given one and have lived with it for nearly 2 years. They're not as bad as people say they are - quiet, comfortable and stupidly well equipped. It's the quietest car I've ever had for motorway cruising. I'm getting high 40s mpg from mine - even the most efficient diesel, when coupled with an auto box, in a car of that size, won't get within 10mpg of that (BMW 320d auto - very efficient with a manual box, but shocking with an auto). Clever technology - something which car enthusiasts should embrace, not slate - as it's what's going to give us 300bhp cars that are affordable to run in the future.
  4. So does my 13 year old Audi A3. Not seeing a lot of planet saving progress there. But a 13 year old A3 won't seat 5 in comfort or do up to 60mpg with an automatic gearbox. Neither will it do it on petrol, so it'll be belching out carcinogenic diesel soot, too.
  5. I'm going to have to come in on this one. I have one for work - we don't have any choice in the matter. However, they'll turn in mid 40s mpg if you drive one like you stole it and up to 60mpg if you're more careful. OK, doesn't sound *that* impressive - but remember, it's an automatic - show me another auto that'll seat 5 in comfort and turn in circa 50mpg. Lots of people slate it for the energy used in battery production - but they're designed to be re-cyclable, so it's a bit of a moot point anyway. Hybrids are the future, whether you like it or not.
  6. Just saw this thread in another place I frequent:http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=426305I really hope the rumour isn't true.....
  7. For some perverse reason I *really* want to get my hands on a MkI XR2. Would have to be an absolutely mint condition diamond white example, though, complete with all the original 80s spec. stick on black vinyl bits.

Oooooh. P76. Want. Looks a bit crusty, though.Someone needs to save that 127 before it ends up too rotten to save.

Looking at Rover 100 specs (Your Rio would have been badged Rover Metro)....The range appeared to be:Ascot, Ascot SE, Knightsbridge, Knightsbridge SE (Not sure where the Kensington came, think it was a limited edition) all with a 1.1 or 1.5D engine. The 1.4s were:SLi, GSi, GTa.So, 1.1 Ascot is as low as you can get. Which makes it an inspired choice for a 1.8VVC conversion.

The only flaw in that is that Ascot was poverty spec. on that era of car.

No, I don't want that Metro. Not at all.A 160bhp Metro would be silly and pointless. Why would I want one?

The Tipo thing was a bit of a piss-take, to be honest. The Kappa doesn't directly share any platform with anything else from Fiat / Alfa / Lancia. It appears to have been almost a 156 / 166 development car - it has the rear suspension setup from a 156 / 166 but the front setup from a 155.Looks very 155-esque, like the Lancia Dedra did.

I love that Panda 'jeep'. I'd imagine it would be a bit floppy without the roof, though..... Just spotted this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lancia-Kappa-Coupe-Alfa-V6-Auto-LHD-Left-Hand-Drive_W0QQitemZ130113404617QQihZ003QQcategoryZ18186QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That is a thing of true beauty. Even if it is a big, posh Tipo.
