  1. In my experience this kind of stuff does make a difference, until it filters out of the system and you're back to how it felt before. It's like trying to cure Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with Red Bull. As others have suggested, not letting the fuel light come on (so sludge and silt from the bottom of the fuel tank won't get sucked into the injectors) and using decent fuel does help. This is how I've been treating my 605 and 405 - both have had significant increases in performance, MPG and feel happier and smoother in general since I've been running them.

Using shit fuel from ASDA/Tesco/Bilked from a Jerry can you found in the boot of a Lada Samara in a scrapyard in a skip, is false economy IMO. Even when I've been skint I still used posh fuel, purely because of the better MPG.

  2. Bought it and drove it 80 ish miles home. Total pleasure to drive and Youngteam was the perfect vendor, even picked me up from the train station. Took it round to a friend who wanted to borrow a good looking car for his mates wedding and I think it made his day as well. Doesn't get much better than this.Thanks.

Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, in that case. You're one of us now. Your brown and beige robes are in the post, embroidered with "Champagne Motoring for Lemonade Money Section" insignia.

Keep us updated, I'd genuinely like to hear how this turns out/have the chance the buy when I'm not swimming with PSA shite and a random Mercedes.

  3. My "funding" comes from me being able justify shite by having few other big expenses, other than general living costs. I don't take holidays, have new tech or go out clubbing and drink very little and don't smoke.

When I see how much money some people spend on crap like tattoos, vape machines, designer clothes and iPhones, a few hundred quid for something that you can drive and actually do actual things with, and cruicially, own, seems pretty harmless.

  4. Leave sport mode off and accelerating from low revs you get a bit of a burble, put sport mode on and floor it and it absolutely screams. Well mine does at least!

It was the same with mine. Never unrefined though. In their performance characteristics and general mannerisms, they're more like old school XJ12s.

  5. The last silver X308 I saw belonged to a friend of mine. He had it from new and only put tiny miles on it, driving it to the golf club mostly - for some weird reason Brian traded it against a 2015 Civic estate and then moaned that the ride is too hard every time I saw him - no shit?

I moved away, and still get the odd text from him moaning about his Civic, so I sent him the link saying "you know it makes sense".

  6. I only have spare diesel engines for these at home, but even so I am tempted, how many Xantias is too many? What engine has it got in at the moment and is it auto/ manual? How are the rear door shuts? Can't promise anything, as I would want to source an engine first

I'll see your marrow and raise you some enormous rhubarb.

Door shuts are fairly clean and are all solid. There are a few 5p sized blebs which are probably curable by sanding down and treating. It's an auto.

  7. I bought this of a fellow shiter about three or four months ago. It was absolutely fine on purchase day and thereafter, right up until the point it went bang and chucked out a conrod. It's annoying because it's one of the nicest sinkers left. Apart from some UV rash to the boot lid and some MOT tide marks, it's very tidy and the interior is near mint. It would be a shame to frag it, because other than "rod gate" it's lovely.

With a 405 that is in the process of being restored at a body shop, and the 605 awaiting some much-needed spannering and painwork when its little brother returns, I can't justify throwing any more money at this, as much as I like wasting money on PSA crap.

The suspension worked fine at the point of death, and I can't think of why it won't now. It has had the system comprehensively overhauled by a Citroen licker of high regard, although I have no paperwork to back that up (verbal history m9).

ICE is very good, heater works and all the windows go up and down. The sunroof doesn't leak.

The MOT runs out in December. 118,000 miles. I think.

I just need it gone, so take it away for free - but bring a trailer and a spare set of wheels because I want to keep the brand new Michelin Energy Savers that I bought for it. Alternatively, give me £250 and it stays with the wheels and tyres :) They are the genuine article and I don't think I've even done 1,000 miles on them! Considering they cost in excess of £300 that's a pretty good deal...

Just to clarify, I am not moaning about the seller. It was an honest deal and a good price, but sadly these things happen to old cars sometimes. It's a shame, but a worthwhile project if you fancy one.

Free cup of posh coffee included, as well as a ride in a 605. If you buy now, I'll include a free marrow from my allotment.

Located in East Northampton, on the Northants/Cambs border. We're easy to find the A14 and A6 and there's a pub opposite if you decide you need refreshments but find you don't like me in person.

  8. Well, I got my driving entitlement back, so I printed it off of the Gov. view licence website and tootled off to work last night. They still wouldn't let me work, despite the DVLA saying I don't need a section 88, so I thought 'bollocks', and came home again. Difference is, this week and next week I'm being paid.

Reminds me of the time they buggered up my digi card...I had a lovely two week "holiday".
