  1. Whuddup people. I bought these for my Sterling, which probably isn't going to be going back on the road until the Spring, and I don't want them getting in the way of all the Christmas Shite the Mrs will no doubt will be festooning the place with very soon. I'd rather just get my money back. Sooner or later I will learn to stick with Peugeots.

Vredesteins are a pukka brand, and you'd pay about £50 a corner for mid range stuff of this fitment, so 90 quid the pair is a good deal. Go on, bring out your inner track day wanker.

They've never been on a car, still in their shrink wrapping. Brand new, unused, unstolen. Collect from Chelveston, East Northants.

Feel fee the hijack the thread about why Chinese tyres will kill you. Ha ha. I'm so funny.

  2. UPVOTED.

The colour/body/interior decor combo is very rare indeed these days (S1 306s of any kind are scarce now), it has one of the sweetest BE/ME 'boxes I've ever used and the XUD is strong.

Part of the reason why I'll be so sad to see this go, I don't think I'll find one this nice again. But I've too much on my plate to sort it out, sadly.

  3. I'm dailying a 306 Sedan Mongoloid thing at the moment. Getting about 43 mpg, and I mostly drive on B roads, with a fairly heavy foot. I don't do stop start urban driving because I don't go anywhere near actual people anymore. No idea if that figure is good or bad, and the T-stat is needing replacement, which will be scewing things for the worse.

If you ask me nicely I might sell for £200-£300 ish, but the MOT has the life expectancy of a house fly and it will need about £300 spent on it for another year's test. But it does have a BOSCH PUMP OMFG.

  4. Ah, the Baleno. I remember these getting slated by Glasses' Guide et al for catastrophic depreciation, but I can't really remember why. Catastrophic depreciation caused by a guide warning of catastrophic depreciation?

Some years ago I was riding in my then housemate's car out to go shopping, and saw a bumber for one of these (in silver!!!!) on the side of the A605, in among the traffic cones and Lucazade bottles full of truck driver's wee. I asked for him to stop so I could get it, but he said no, asking why the hell I wanted a bumber for a car that I didn't own.

"But what if somebody I know buys one?"

    "Like...who?"

"I don't know," I said, craning my neck back to look at it, "Somebody on Autoshite?"

I seem to remember it stayed there, until they widened the road, when I assume Highways England put it in a skip.

  5. Yup, my guess it's a weak battery, or just not big enough. 605s seem very heavy on their batteries (all that cutting edge late eighties and nineties tech). The battery in my V6 was quite new, but never could start it without some kind of assistance. I put a big f**k off Bosch in it, which cured the problem.

  6. A new "greener" grade of petrol, E10, is on the way with 10% ethanol. A great way to meet air quality targets and to keep the polar bear lickers happy, or another ploy to force us off the road and into the credit system, making us all work 9-5 office jobs selling Chinese paperclips or something, to pay for our 318ds? I can't see this being good news for us, either way.

I'm sure it will all blow over, in much the same way many got around the introduction of unleaded by retarding their timing, but I am worried about this. The government have our back as ever, and have promised to keep the current grade in forecourts until 2020.  But judging by that list on the ACEA's website, '90% of us will not have compatible cars (unless you drive an old Mercedes or an X300).

Does this mean that we have only two years left to enjoy our shite?

    Discuss!

  7. I was there along with Mrs P and Captain Slow. Did anyone see the SAAB 9000 parked up with destroyed paint? That was us.

The only thing I wish I had registered to bit for was a minted Daimler XJ40 that went for £2100. I go just to poke around and view it as a car museum which changes its exhibits each time you visit, really.

And the chips - the cafe does first class chips.

  8. Fair point. I haven't tested it across many cars just a few. Do you reckon it could bring the eml on if it dislodged a load of shite that then ended up sooting up the lambda or am I grasping at the biggest straw in the world?

Using man logic - yes. If the hat fits, wear it.

  9. Half of the problem is like using super instead of regular unleaded. Placebo effect. You start convincing yourself that it feels fitter but most of its blind optimism!

Depends on the car. Made bugger all difference on my Jags and my Accord, but my V70 loved it and so does my 405.
